New Knitting Patterns

You can now find this pot holder on my page.

It’s knitted in a simple knit-purl pattern using cotton yarn—ideal for using up leftover yarn and suitable for beginners as well.
The pattern looks great on both sides. It’s written out row by row and also presented in a knitting chart. The size of the pot holder can be easily adjusted to suit your personal preferences.

Boho Style

A wise woman prepares ahead...
When fall comes, and that will probably happen soon enough, you’ll be happy to wear a hat again. With its playful lace pattern, it can really spruce up your wardrobe.

You can find it here.

It is knitted from sock-weight yarn; depending on the size, you should plan on using 150–180 m. You’ll also need 3 mm knitting needles.
I wouldn’t necessarily call the pattern suitable for beginners; basic knowledge of knitting lace patterns should be present. The pattern is written out round by round and also shown in a knitting chart.

Forum Game: Fairy Tale Hour (no advertising)

Soon a wedding was celebrated, and the prince and his bride built their new home in the garden of the fisherman’s cottage, where, according to rumors, the best stockfish far and wide was served on exquisitely woven tablecloths, and they lived happily ever after.

A Break from Everyday Life

At the seaside, it’s fun. That’s what my goldfish thought too, because they’re now taking a trip around the world—at least on this knitted handbag.
You’ll need cotton in two colors for it (yardage 125 m per 50 g), a 3 mm circular knitting needle, and also a crochet hook in the right size, because the handles are crocheted. Optionally, a snap fastener for closing and lining fabric, if desired.
The fish are shown in a knitting chart.

This way to follow the goldfish.

Yarn Weight Specifications in English Patterns

As for common yarn types, I have to say that this varies greatly by region. Someone in America probably wouldn’t think to list Catania as the recommended yarn for their pattern, because it simply isn’t well-known there. And when Americans read in our descriptions that Catania was used, it means just as little to them as when we read “Lion Brand”—just as an example. I still think it makes the most sense to specify yarn thickness—that is, yardage/meterage—in conjunction with the yarn type (cotton) and needle size.

Crochet a lace shawl // Knit a lace shawl

This knitted stole features a lace pattern as well as cables. The original is made from merino wool (105 m per 50 g), but of course you can use other yarns as well. Simply adjust the number of stitches and needle size. This is very easy to do, since the stole is knitted lengthwise, and once you reach the desired width, you simply stop.

You can read more about it here .

Patterns in Lilac + Purple + Violet + Burgundy Red

In a rich wine red mixed with white, this knitted hat is done in a gingham pattern. But of course, you can also use other colors :-)
The pattern is not intended for knitting beginners, but it may be suitable as an introduction to two-color knitting.
I knitted it in a wool/nylon blend yarn with a yardage of 114 m per 50 g. It should be something comparable. Yarn required: 1 ball of each color, possibly 2 balls of the main color for the largest size. You will also need a 4 mm set of double-pointed needles or a circular needle.
The pattern comes in four different sizes, from children's to large adult size, and it is definitely suitable for men as well.

You can find it here.

Mother’s Day // Father’s Day: craft with heart and soul now

If you need a quick gift, this little bookmark is just the thing. It’s quick to knit in a charming lace pattern—a scrap of cotton (about 20m) is all you need. A lovely gift for moms—and dads—who love to read.

Find the pattern here.

Did you make it through Easter and the week okay? (No advertising)

Weekends are usually better than weekdays :-) I just started knitting a pair of wrist warmers as a test for a fellow author. I should be able to finish at least one of them over the weekend.

Sale of Patterns

I just went through the relevant sections of Austrian copyright law to be sure. Under Austrian law, the copyright holder generally has the option to prohibit the sale of finished products, but isn’t required to do so. It’s at their discretion.
I’ve never considered imposing such a ban on my patterns. On a large scale, they can’t be reproduced commercially—they simply take time to make—and if someone wants to sell one or two pieces, by all means, go ahead; I have no objection. I’ve also been asked explicitly for permission from time to time, and I’ve agreed every single time.
The patterns themselves may not be resold, but that goes without saying.

That vacation feeling

How about a weekend trip to London? “Boho in Soho” is a great companion for that. It’s a knitted summer scarf made of cotton—not exactly easy, but not too difficult either. You’ll need to know how to do drop stitches, as well as increases and decreases.
What makes this scarf special is that it’s not only knitted but also crocheted. The long body is knitted, but the ends are crocheted.

Click here for the pattern and more details .
