I'm back from fall break. There's enough work here for 3 people, but one thing at a time, always in order.
The week/weekend was great. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite nice enough for hiking on Saturday or Sunday. But a walk with the dog happens no matter the weather.

At home this week, I started on the new Bobbel, and it's coming along well. And the lanyard for my colleague is finished. The yellow yarn I embroidered it with afterward glows in the dark. It fits the dark season perfectly.

For food, we had pizza yesterday and leftovers today. And tomorrow a colleague is celebrating her birthday—and she's treating everyone to pizza. Well then, I probably won't be craving pizza for a while......

Hi,

I’m not feeling so great today. My mother-in-law was admitted to the
university hospital today for 7 weeks, and my daughters were already crying their eyes out at
6:30 this morning. My oldest just texted me
that she’s been crying all morning.
I’ll be really glad to be home today.

The weekend was a mixed bag, but I’ve had worse ones.

My plan for the week is to finish the third baby doll and the
UFO Secret Santa project. I finished my vest yesterday—except for the buttons, which I still need
to buy. I turned the hood into a collar because I couldn’t figure out how to do
the hood. It looks great this way, though.

Tomorrow I’ll be giving the first baby doll as a gift. The little girl turns 3 tomorrow and
will get it for her birthday. I’m curious to see what she’ll say.

I don’t have a meal plan yet—let’s see what my husband has in mind.

It’s cloudy here, but it’s not raining.

Best, Heike

Okay, I think this is the right place. First of all, I’d like to thank everyone for the kind words—even those from so long ago. Somehow I’ve been at a loss for words lately; I hope I didn’t offend anyone.
Here’s an update on the latest developments. I’ve already told you about my father’s passing. That meant I lost both my parents within a few months. Right after that, my husband had to go to the hospital with heart problems and fluid in his lungs. That was the worst part of all—the fear of losing him. He’s been home for a while now, but he’s very weak. Every step seems like torture for him, but of course it would be good if he could at least move around a little so he can get back on his feet. Right now we’re in the process of moving into the house he inherited from his mother a while back. There aren’t as many steps to climb there, and you can tell he feels comfortable there. Maybe things will get better again.
My own apartment is currently being used as an “office and studio.” I don’t really want to give it up. It’s mine, and if this whole situation doesn’t turn out well, I’ll definitely move back. You never know, after all.
I’m crafting like crazy—all kinds of things that don’t require much thinking. I just finished a pair of socks (the Christmas production has begun), and now I’m crocheting a loop scarf for my sister-in-law. Writing is almost impossible right now—or at least it’s going very slowly. Constant dripping wears away the stone, right?
So, that’s it for now with the status update. I still have an appointment with the notary this week, and I also want to go through our parents’ belongings with my brother. It’ll probably be painful. Oh well, that’s just how it is.
And now I’ll start checking in regularly again—I promise!

I’m glad your husband is feeling better.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for both of you.
It’s also great that you can do a little more crafting again.

Hello Ida
It’s great to hear from you again. I’m glad your husband is feeling better and that you’re enjoying your crafts again.

I’m doing well—we were able to go on a short hike over the weekend since it’s gotten warmer again.

Now I’m going to bake a cake and, of course, continue crocheting later.

Heike: I just counted the weeks, so your mother-in-law should be getting out right in time for Christmas. I hope the time passes quickly for you.

Ida: nice that you got back in touch. I’m keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you that your husband continues to recover. And I wish you lots of strength with sorting things out.

Today my parents came to visit and kept Anton entertained. That let me rest and do some housework.
We have lots of appointments for the rest of the week.

I wish you all a lovely week

:-) I’m a little stressed!
This weekend I’m going to the Hoppymarkt with my daughter-in-law
where we’ll be selling our
work for a good cause.
The knitting needles are clicking away every spare minute
and we’re already really excited!
But last year we also had very good sales
and received lots of praise for all the little things we
knitted.
I hope that this year, too, we can achieve good sales
for our children’s charity.
So keep your fingers crossed for us for Sunday!
Best regards,
Birgit

Dear Ida, I’m sending you my best wishes, too. It’s all been a bit much for you, but I really hope things keep getting better, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you again.

Birgit, I wish you lots of success with your sale on Sunday. Will you show us a picture of your creations?

Heike, I wish your mother-in-law all the best, and I wish you all strength and courage to support her.

Hi Ida.

I’m sending you lots of strength—all this stuff with the government agencies and sorting through your household belongings is bound to bring you down again… at least that’s how it was for me and for some friends of mine. I hope you have a few really good friends who don’t care if you’re not in the best mood right now and who will stand by you. If you can, take some time off. Try to do things that make you feel good. And if you feel like crying—let it all out! It wouldn’t be normal if you didn’t feel it deeply! Enjoy spending time with your husband… life is so fragile and can’t really be planned…

Anton got his shot today. He’s been sleeping since noon, and I’m making the most of the time. I pre-cooked some baby food for him (pumpkin and potato with sweet potato chunks), and for myself, I just tried a small portion of paprika spaetzle.  I still had some paprika spread here that didn’t taste good, so I mixed it into the dough. It was delicious.

Now I’m cleaning the kitchen and waiting for him to wake up.
