How’s the weather? How are you all doing? Is everything going well?

Gray skies, with rain every now and then. I’m feeling pretty lazy.

Weekend Projects: Download New Releases and Bestsellers

A lovely knitting project for relaxing outdoors is this triangular shawl, knitted from sock yarn. It’s so easy that you can even watch the little birds while you work on it. And the big advantage is that you can make it in any size you want - when you run out of yarn, you simply stop.

You can find the pattern here.

April Projects: UFO Week from April 23–30, Best of Leftovers, Yarn Diet: Final Sprint for World Domination, all April projects and of course baby and doll designs as well as spring designs

So, by the time I finally get around to taking a photo of my April project, you’ll all have long since finished what feels like a hundred projects. I’ve lost track a bit, so you all deserve the warmest praise!
Here’s my April shawl:

That was still “World Domination Yarn.” The “Shame Yarn” is currently being turned into a summer top. I hope I have enough of it. Worst-case scenario, I’ll have to buy more, but at this point, it doesn’t really matter anymore.

Popular Patterns Clearly Explained: Honeycomb Pattern

I think “honeycomb pattern” is a very broad term, because you can create honeycombs in all sorts of different ways. A few weeks ago, I knitted a scarf in a honeycomb pattern—I just need to quickly see where I have a photo of it.

In the broadest sense, it’s a cable pattern. But there are surely many other ways to knit—or even crochet—something like this.

Stripes, Patterns, Dots, Checks, Waves, and Stars: Make Life More Beautiful.

Narrow stripes on one side, an elongated V on the other side—that’s how you could describe this scarf. It creates an exciting contrast, but I’d recommend it more for experienced knitters.

You can read more about it here.

Stripes, Patterns, Dots, Checks, Waves, and Stars: Make Life More Beautiful.

Actually, these are stripes that are knitted into this shopping bag. But because slipped stitches are also used, a diamond-shaped pattern is created. It looks difficult, but in reality it is very easy. All you need are knitting needles and cotton yarn in two different colors.

You can find the pattern here.

What are your plans for today?

It’s raining here now—completely out of the blue. That wasn’t part of the plan. I’ll visit my dad this afternoon. Let’s see what surprises await me this time.

Using Up Leftover Yarn: Save Money and Make Pretty Projects

Colorful leftover cotton yarn piles up quickly, and then you’re not quite sure what to do with it. The good news: you can knit with it!

How about a bracelet?

Quick to make and not hard at all.

Or a bookmark for the bookworms?

Also quick to make, a little more difficult—but definitely nothing to be afraid of!

Make a guess: How much wool and other materials do you think you’ll use in total in 2018?

As for the yardage per 50g, I’m really not sure about that. Some people had 50m, while others had 200m.

Advanced Designs: Find a New Challenge Now

A challenge for true experts is this knitted scarf in double-face technique. Various motifs that mirror after the halfway point line up one after another. Beginners, hands off!

Here’s the pattern.

For more experienced knitters, I have a lace-pattern stole to offer here. In and of itself, it isn't difficult, but you do need to concentrate a bit. The pattern is written out and also shown in a knitting chart.

Here’s the stole.

Potholders are quick to make and always a rewarding project for beginners, especially when they don’t involve any unusual stitches. These are knitted exclusively using knit and purl stitches. You can find them here.

Dear Josefa, that needn’t surprise you :-) Last year I used about 22,000 meters of yarn. If I assume an average length of 100 meters per 50 grams (not sure if that’s accurate—some are thicker, some thinner), that comes to 220 balls of yarn. And since it doesn’t grow on trees, you have to get it from somewhere.
I don’t know if I’ll manage to use that much again this year, but I can always set that as a goal.

My new hat pattern is now online. A very quick knitting project that’s also suitable for less experienced knitters.

New patterns for April and March 29, 30, and 31

I'm a little behind this year, so don't be surprised. I now have a knitted hat available. But as we all know, next winter is sure to come.
This hat stands out because it’s suitable for almost-beginners. You should know how to knit and purl stitches and be able to knit in the round. It’s finished in no time. I timed it; it takes me 3 hours to make one.

The pattern can be found here.

Bravo has about 133–135 m per 50 g, depending on when it was made, and is 100% acrylic. There’s also a thicker version, but that’s called Bravo Big.
Schachenmayr offers several Merino yarns with a wide variety of yardage. Perhaps the author of the pattern can help with that.

What are you working on today?

I have two finished shawls that I really should finally weave in the ends on and block. For some reason, I keep putting it off. Aside from that, I’ve already been admiring the new yarn today—the one that cost me a fortune :-)

I have to admit, I’m out of the running for world domination. I bought two skeins of sock yarn over the weekend.
To those who do go on to achieve world domination: I hope you won’t be too strict as rulers!
