What are your plans for today?

Hey everyone,

sorry, but I’m bored.

What are you guys up to today? Are you superstitious?
Do you tend to have good or bad luck on Friday the 13th, or is it just another day like any other for
you?

For me, it’s just another day like any other. Nothing particularly lucky or unlucky has ever happened to me on a
Friday the 13th, so
I can’t really say I’m superstitious.

Today I’m only working a half-shift until noon. Then I’ll do some laundry;
the little one has cello lessons at noon, and tonight we’re
taking the older one (and the little one, of course) to the
Math Olympiad awards ceremony.
My older daughter competed in the state round and was invited to
the awards ceremony. We won’t find out the results until tonight.

The weather’s supposed to be great this weekend.
Tomorrow I’ll spruce up my balcony and then enjoy the sun
and do some crocheting there ;-)

Best regards
Heike

Hi Heike!

I’m still at work until 2.
When I get home, only my little one will be there. My son is out with friends again and will be home tomorrow afternoon. He’s still making the most of his time off from schoolwork. Starting in May, the studying begins, and then the weekends are always filled with studying.
My husband is at his brother’s. He’s supposed to help carry some furniture there.

The two of us girls will go shopping so we’ll have something to eat over the weekend. Since the weather’s supposed to be so great here too, we’re kicking off barbecue season two weeks early this year, and Sunday will be the kickoff.
After that, she’ll surely head to the playground or the treehouse with her friends. And the laundry’s waiting for me, too.
But once the laundry’s in the washing machine, I’ll do a little crocheting outside. Who knows how long this nice weather will last—I have to make the most of it.

Sigh.... We still have to haul rocks for the embankment, do some gardening, and so on.

So I’ll try to ease my sore muscles with some gardening^^—I just hope that works. At least the weather’s supposed to be nice, and if it is, I’ll fire up the grill—or rather, order my men to do it.

Hi Heike!
I’m on duty until 1:00 p.m. today, and I just finished my work. Now I’m waiting for my boss.
I’ve got laundry to do today, too, because I’ll be at my parents’ house tomorrow to celebrate my dad’s birthday.
The weather here in Vienna is supposed to be really nice too, even though rain is forecast for this afternoon—but for now, the sun is still shining. I’m a little skeptical that it’ll actually rain.
If the weather stays nice, I’ll go for a long walk with the dog, finish knitting my shawl, and crochet the border onto it.

I’m going to pull myself together right now to tackle my daily chores: do the laundry, there’s still quite a bit to do in the garden, then cook lunch, and when my daughter gets home from school, help her with her homework and study vocabulary—and if there’s even a little bit of the day left, I’ll keep knitting my jacket. I’m already nervous about the sleeves, because I usually have to reknit them 4–5 times—there’s always something that doesn’t fit right (too tight, too loose, oddly shaped, or a mistake).

We’re about to set off on our first RV trip of the year. And I’m really looking forward to it. Whether it’s Friday the 13th or not—for me, it’s always been a great day without anything unusual happening.

Have a great time here, everyone, and enjoy life!

It’s raining here now—completely out of the blue. That wasn’t part of the plan. I’ll visit my dad this afternoon. Let’s see what surprises await me this time.

Hi Heike, and everyone else, of course ;-)

Today I’m going to bake lugworm cookies—the recipe was in the book Körbchen mit Meerblick by Petra Schier, and they’re quick to make and totally delicious.
In between, I’ll be doing inhalation treatments with my cat every now and then; it’s a really terrible procedure, but there’s no helping it—he and I just have to get through it.

Hello Petra

What on earth are lugworm cookies? Sounds like dog biscuits to me...

I really feel sorry for you—both you and your tomcat: When I think about how silly our cat acts even when you just have to drip medicine onto the back of her neck—not to mention removing ticks...
But I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it works quickly.
Wishing you—and everyone else—a wonderful weekend despite the inhaling stress

Christina

I never put much stock in Friday the 13th.
But yesterday was really one of those days:

I barely slept, then got stomach cramps because something was off with dinner. I went to work tired in the morning. Got a message at lunchtime that my mother-in-law wasn’t feeling well and was at the hospital for tests—that worried me. Then in the afternoon at the store (I work in retail), four young men got into such a heated argument that a fight broke out, and I fled through the back door with the other customers while the police broke it up. When I finally got home at 8:00 p.m., I just plopped down on the sofa and didn’t even feel like knitting anymore. Ugh...

Luckily, I have the day off today and can take care of my mother, the house, and hopefully my knitting too.

Best wishes
Caro

Yesterday was uneventful.
Later, we’ll head to Wetzlar to do a little sightseeing.
During the drive, I’ll keep knitting my shawl, which I’ve restarted—with changes—for what feels like the 3458435th time.

Good morning
Petra: Is your cat feeling any better yet? Lots of strength and steady nerves...

Caro: That sounds incredibly exhausting. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not too bad and that your mom gets better again soon.

My day was pretty relaxed. Anton has been fussing a bit more than usual lately... He might be teething.

Actually, mudflat worm cookies are supposed to look like those little mounds in the mudflats (the ones the worms leave behind). Mine look more like dog poo... :-)
They taste absolutely delicious and are super quick to make.

Photo and cookies made by me;- )

@ Arni and Cristina
Today is the first day in a long time that I feel like things are looking up for Stjerne. Using the inhaler is a total nightmare—it just isn’t going very well (he suddenly regained his strength and bit the mask to pieces). I’ve now placed several aroma lamps (without any essential oil, of course) with saline solution around his sleeping area.

@ Caro
Well, yesterday everything really went wrong for you, didn’t it? I hope the weekend goes better and you find time for your knitting :-)

Have a great weekend, everyone!
