Download Weekend Projects and Get Started Right Away

Or how about a bookmark for the book you’re reading outside in the garden? It’s very quick to knit from a small leftover bit of cotton, and then you can close the book anytime when you don’t feel like reading anymore.

You can find the pattern here.

Download Weekend Projects and Get Started Right Away

Since the weekend is going to be warm (at least here), I suggest a wearable and easy project, maybe also made from cotton so you don’t get sweaty underneath it when you’re sitting on the balcony or in the garden. Why not knit yourself a stole that you can drape around your shoulders on cool summer evenings?

You can find the pattern here.

It is knitted in brioche stitch. That’s not hard at all. If you’ve never done it before, there’s a photo tutorial in the pattern. I really like this stitch because it feels so wonderfully soft.

Mother’s Day / Father’s Day: Get Ready Now

Mothers are often given things that basically mean all the work ends up falling on them. Vacuum cleaners, immersion blenders, other kitchen appliances, that kind of stuff. I always put on a brave face, but honestly, it doesn’t really make me happy. Of course it’s well meant, but what it really says is something like: "Mom, go vacuum." I’d much rather have something pretty that isn’t connected with work, or something that brings me personal well-being. Daughters and sons, if you’re reading this, think it over!
So my suggestion: A pretty bracelet, perhaps?

Or maybe a bath mitt?

Both are knitted, both are quick to make.

But leftover yarn and stash—I can’t even begin to count those :-)

Final sprint and awards ceremony for March projects / Best of the Leftovers / UFO Week

Oops, I just saw the question above about my UFO shawl. No, unfortunately it’s not finished yet—I’m still looking for my yarn. I know there’s some of the same yarn in a contrasting color somewhere that I want to use for the border, but I just can’t find it.

Preferred Features in Spring and Summer Clothing

In the spring, I absolutely love wearing men’s shirts. Unlike women’s blouses, they’re usually made of cotton and feel very comfortable against the skin. They serve the same purpose as a light jacket.

Oh, I hadn’t even noticed that until now. But that only applies to older posts, right? Something else I’ve noticed—though this might just be my imagination—is that the number of unread threads changes from time to time. For example, it shows me 12 unread threads. Then I read one, and suddenly I only have 8 unread topics left. Then I read another one, and it’s back up to 12, even though no one else has posted anything. But it could just as easily be that I’m imagining it. Whenever I see something like that, I think to myself, “Am I going crazy?” and don’t quite trust myself.
Thanks for fixing it :-)

Fork crocheting

Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with hairpin lace crochet at all, but I remember that there was already a forum thread about it some time ago. I just can’t find it right now.
Is there perhaps another technical term for hairpin lace crochet? I only remember that some tips were given back then.

I even managed to slip a typo into the title :-)
But seriously, now I’m a little worried that I might be missing some important birthdays or something. In my forum settings, I’ve specified that I want to see 500 unread posts, so that can’t be why some are missing.

Tell me, is it just me, or do you all see this? On the right side of the bar with the latest forum activity, it shows me a few topics (all those forum games) that I definitely haven’t clicked on since yesterday and where someone posted something today, but they’re not showing up in my unread topics. Is this just happening to me, or is this a general issue?

Happy Easter, everyone: What are your plans?

To be honest, I’m actually quite glad that Easter is over. It was a very sad Easter this time. We buried our mother on Good Friday.
It wasn’t really a surprise, but when it actually happened, it was still a surprise.
Good Friday was a beautiful spring day. I’ll remember that forever. Next to the grave stands a tree where a bird has built its nest. I don’t know why, but the sight of that bird was very comforting.
Slowly, the realization is sinking in that she’s truly gone now. Above all, I look back with gratitude—gratitude for the life she gave me, and gratitude for the trust she gave me from a very young age. There are some things I’m only now becoming aware of. She will live on in my heart.

Fringes and Tassels // Cheerful and Decorative

This crocheted fringe scarf is also a scarf of a special kind. It has fringe along the sides.

This way to the pattern.

Fringes and Tassels // Cheerful and Decorative

I’d like to show you an unusual fringed scarf. What makes it special is that it is both knitted and crocheted. The long scarf section is knitted, and the ends with the fringe are crocheted.
The scarf is made of cotton and is therefore also well suited for the transitional season or cool summer nights.

Here’s the pattern.

Lace Patterns / Lace Shawls for Spring and Summer

Spring and summer are popular times to get married. If any of you have ambitions in that direction, a festive shawl is a must!
This triangular shawl is knitted from sock-weight yarn. The pattern is written out row by row and also shown in several knitting charts. Two different lace patterns are used, which also stand out from each other in color.

You can find the pattern here.

Lace Patterns: Exciting new designs online.

A lace stole made from cotton yarn is ideal for spring. When a cool breeze still blows now and then, it's nice to have something to snuggle into.
This pattern can be very easily adapted to your personal needs. You can make it wider or narrower, and knit it longer or shorter.

You can find the pattern here.

What are the latest trends for spring and summer 2018? What’s new?

I can’t remember at the moment where I read that again: puff sleeves! But apparently not until next year. No idea how they can know that so precisely a whole year in advance.

Are you satisfied with March?

If it’s true, then care home places have just become available for our parents. I’m a bit torn about this, because it’s easy to imagine what it means when places become available in a care home. For us, it’s definitely good news. Maybe the move will still happen in March after all. That would be a huge relief.

Thank you, you two :-) The cowl is pretty thick, so it’s not really something for spring. But I got the yarn for Christmas, and I just had to make something out of it.
Monika, I hope it works out with adding to your family. And for your son too, of course!

The blanket is awesome! And so is the teddy bear sweater!
I’ve secretly and quietly knitted a loop scarf—using yarn I had on hand, of course—world domination is already within reach.

I’m still working on the blanket; only the crochet shawl is on hold for now because I can’t find the contrasting color.

Quick Easter Projects // Easy Easter Projects

When you’re preparing your Easter meal, you’ll need pot holders—whether it’s a hearty roast pork or a vegetarian lasagna. You can’t do without them.
The good news: You can easily knit some pot holders before then. They’re quick to make with thick cotton yarn and aren’t difficult at all.

If you’d like to quickly use up a few leftover sock yarn bits over the weekend and also urgently need packaging for little chocolate Easter bunnies, you can simply knit these. A small handmade gift bag looks great and can be reused later, too.

Here’s the pattern.

Even if it doesn't look like it, I firmly believe that spring will arrive soon. But a lightweight infinity scarf is also very useful during the transitional season.
This one is knitted from sock yarn and is therefore truly lightweight. The pattern isn't quite suitable for absolute beginners, but it certainly isn't difficult and, above all, is very relaxing to knit—just right for a cozy weekend on the sofa.

You can find the pattern here.
