Crochet Beginners: How are you all doing?

how are you doing?

Hi everyone,
it’s me again—yes, I’m still here. I’m doing well and have continued to improve. Right now, I’ve swapped my trowel for a crochet hook again and am working on something great.
I don’t spend much time here, but I’ve already found quite a few things—mostly to give away. Someday I’ll join the UFO challenge too. After all, I love Star Trek and the Enterprise. I’m not quite getting the hang of the campaign, though—first leftover yarn, then a diet, UFOs, Kaiser, and so on. Anyway, I’m definitely making progress.

Hello Klaus,
here’s how the events work:

UFO Week: Usually takes place once a month, around the last week of the month. During this week, at least one UFO = unfinished object should be completed; then you receive the title UFO King / UFO Queen.

Best of Leftovers: If you want this title, you need to use up as much leftover yarn as possible during the relevant period.

Yarn Diet / Yarn Emperor/Empress: This is about reducing your yarn stash (including whole skeins) that you have at home. Wonderful projects come from this, and you can buy new yarn. Normally the event only runs for four weeks.
Some of our users / designers have been consistently reducing their yarn stash for months, and of course that deserves extra applause.

Thanks so much for all the info—I don’t have any more questions right now. I’ll see if I can join in on a project sometime.
Right now, I’m thinking about whether I should finish the project I started—maybe it’ll turn into a UFO.

Well, if you’ve started it but haven’t finished it yet, then that’s definitely a UFO :-)

Hmm, hmm... come to think of it, all craft projects are basically UFOs. I had a feeling the aliens were on their way and getting ready to land.
I don’t crochet all that much, but one thing I know for sure: I want to land a UFO, too.
Endless expanses... may the needle be with us :) :) :)

Usually, the term “UFO” refers to a project that’s been sitting around for a while or has some unpleasant aspect to it.
Finishing a UFO brings plenty of glory and honor.
I can’t guarantee the presence of aliens, though. :-)
