It was 31 degrees again here today. Since I had the day off, I was able to sit out on the patio this morning—it was nice and shady and comfortable—so I kept crocheting on my shawl.
As soon as the sun comes around and it gets unbearably hot, I move my crocheting indoors. I actually make the most of every free minute. I have to take short breaks, otherwise my fingers get tired—during those breaks, I like to do puzzles.
I’ve also noticed that since I joined CP and found lots of pretty patterns and inspiration, I’ve been crocheting more often than before.

Thank you all so much for your congratulations.

I’ll treat you all to a virtual glass of sparkling wine for a toast. :-)

I took my crochet supplies with me on my vacation in Germany. The trip took me from Norway to Kiel, then to Brandenburg/H., and from there to Reutlingen (Swabian Alb). But I didn’t really get much crocheting done after all.
There were just so many things going on, like my parents’ golden wedding anniversary, visiting friends, shopping, eating ice cream sundaes, touring the castles at Lichtenstein and Hohenzollern... and...

then there was our own wedding celebration. Yes, we tied the knot in the beautiful chapel in Reutlingen, right next to City Hall. It couldn’t be better right now.
So I only had time to crochet in the evenings.

I still have the day off today, and I’m alternating between working on my triangle shawl and the Lola “Happiness.” I’m still enjoying the sun out on our patio—it’s wonderful.

Thanks, Arni—we will. But first, we’re heading from Kiel to Brandenburg/H. to visit my parents; Saturday is their golden wedding anniversary, and then we’ll continue on to the Swabian Alb for a vacation—I hear it’s supposed to be really beautiful there. I haven’t been there myself yet, so I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like.
I’ll be back with some photos.

I’ve been off work since Monday and am finally enjoying the summery temperatures. I’m sitting out on the patio with my crochet supplies, relaxing and letting the sun shine on me. But you can’t stay out there for long—it’s so hot, but lovely.
In the evening, we sit outside again and watch the sunset until it disappears behind the mountain—then it gets cool and pleasant right away.

So, to everyone here on the forum, I wish you a pleasant rest of the week and a wonderful weekend, because we’re on vacation starting Thursday (May 17 is a national holiday here in Norway)—we’re off to Germany. Two weeks (lazing around, partying, eating ice cream... seeing family). It’s going to be great.

I had to squeeze in another project—my son wanted a unicorn for an acquaintance, and I’m almost done with it. Just one more leg, the mane, and the tail to go, and it’ll be finished by next week before my vacation. It crocheted up relatively quickly—a whole 4 days (from the leg to the horn, about 40 cm). I usually work on smaller figures, but I need
to use up my nice Catania yarn too—there are a few scattered balls of different colors lying around. Unfortunately, it’s not suitable for large projects unless I crochet everything multicolored.

Dear Ina,
even though it’s late, I’d also like to wish you a happy birthday. I hope you had a wonderful day with your family, complete with cake and lots of treats. Did you let yourself be pampered, and maybe take advantage of the gorgeous weather for a barbecue in the garden? :-)

I hope I’m still in the right thread. I also took the time to count the patterns I’ve bought. Oh my gosh, that’s really shocking:

of the 226 patterns I’ve bought (yes, that many), I’ve only finished crocheting 34
and I have 8 UFOs

I have 54 free patterns, and I’ve only crocheted 6 of those.

Otherwise, my motto is: get them first, I’ll find time to crochet somehow. I also only ever get around to it in the evenings. Then something else often comes up, and before you know it, it gets put aside.
There really are some incredibly cute patterns, too.

I still have yarn for my older “Wallflower,” so I wouldn’t need to buy any extra, and it’s a small crochet project, so maybe I can finish it in May before my vacation. So I’d be in.

Right now I’m crocheting my triangular shawl (unraveled and restarted with a new pattern),
. a small crocheted pouch (a wedding bag, kind of like a pompom)
. table decorations for 8 people (made from cardstock, stickers, and cut-outs)
. finishing a wedding album for my parents’ golden wedding anniversary

I’m kind of under time pressure; everything has to be finished by mid-May.

Well, I don’t usually unravel things either, but recently, while cleaning up, I found a crocheted lace-pattern scarf I’d started. But since I couldn’t find that pattern anywhere in my records, I had to unravel the scarf after all. Luckily, I hadn’t even finished half of it yet.

And I unraveled a triangular shawl I’d started because I didn’t like the pattern anymore, and I started the shawl over with a new pattern. I hope it doesn’t become another UFO.

I always have fun when I’m crafting—otherwise, I wouldn’t do it. It’s such a great way to unwind and watch a crocheted figure come to life. I take pleasure in it when I’ve done a good job, and I’m also happy when I can bring joy to others with my creations.
You can let your imagination run wild and play around with whatever colors you feel like using.

Hi and good evening—
I just read this here. Well, I also did a lot of paper crafts for a while, but off the top of my head, I wouldn’t have been able to list all the different types. But it’s true—there really are so many wonderful kinds of paper out there.
When birthdays or other celebrations are coming up, I still make all my cards by hand. On top of that, I have a small shoebox full of paper punches. For those, you need thinner, smooth paper—it works great. Regular printer paper works too. I once bought some thick, glossy foil paper on sale here at Panduro, and it punches beautifully.
For string art cards, I use cardstock in a wide variety of colors. You can also make beautiful flowers with origami paper (those pop-up cards). I also have an embossing and die-cutting machine.
You can even embroider cardstock with beads—I’ve tried it all. The only thing missing is the time to do it.

So, even as a beginner, you can create really pretty little pictures using small, inexpensive punches—even kids can use them.
Or, with this hand-crank knitting dolly, kids or crochet beginners can make cords and braid them into plaits or use them for little rugs. There are just sooo many possibilities.
Collect branches on a walk and use them with construction paper to make beautiful mobiles.

That all sounds interesting here. We’re all infected with the yarn bug, and that’s a good thing, and somehow funny too.
 
I also often buy my cotton crochet yarn online (including bargain offers), since I don’t have a yarn shop right around the corner either. There’s only the Panduro shop on my way to work, but I can’t always get the right yarn there. I mainly crochet with mercerized cotton yarn. I also have a few yarn cakes lying around that I wanted to “save” for larger projects; I ordered them in Germany and had them sent to my parents, since not everyone delivers here. So sometimes I have to be frugal with nice yarn.
So I wouldn’t be able to fit 90 skeins in my home either. My stash is manageable, but I only ever have small amounts of one color. I’m slowly trying to use up my leftovers (the not-so-nice yarn or colors I ordered at some point). You also become more demanding. I always want prettier bright colors, maxi skeins... That’s how it is for me anyway: if I ordered this or that yarn color a long time ago and don’t like it that much anymore now, then I somehow don’t feel like using it for great projects either. Then it gets used for less important projects, e.g. sample pieces for bags or similar things.
Often I see great patterns on CP and want to start right away, but then I don’t have enough of this or that color, which is annoying, and I think, you still have sooo much other yarn, use that all up first.
It’s hard to hold back when you see great yarn. But I’m already insanely excited about our vacation in Germany; of course we’ll go into a yarn shop again, I have to stock up (on yarn that I can’t get here in Norway).
I hope you roughly understand what I’m trying to say. ... it’s an endless cycle, and the pattern list keeps getting loooooonger. :-))

There’s still plenty of snow here, and it’s freezing cold, so we’d rather stay inside.

I don’t remember exactly when I first found this site, but it was through Google, because I wanted to know what amigurumi were. I didn’t know that back then.
So I started looking for patterns, and that’s how I ended up on CP. I’ve stayed because this place is so great :-)
