I’m going shopping first thing today :) (Not for yarn, but at the sports store)
After that, we’ll have to do what we’ve been putting off for days: tidying up and cleaning... Because we’re having a visitor on Thursday who wants to see the new house.
If there’s still time, I’ll keep working on my new pattern :)
I probably won’t actually get any crocheting done today, but that’s okay. I’ll catch up on that over the weekend.
I still have the day off today, and I’m alternating between working on my triangle shawl and the Lola “Happiness.” I’m still enjoying the sun out on our patio—it’s wonderful.
This morning I took care of all the household chores, then went to the dentist, and until just now I was highly motivated to keep writing my paper while my son studied for his math test.
Hmm, now he’s slipped away from me. But he still has to study anyway. So I’m going to treat myself to a break now. The literature review won’t go any better this afternoon than it is right now. So it can wait.
I’m currently finishing up my new pot holders (amigurumi)—I finally got the yarn I was missing. And then I want to write up the pattern right away so it doesn’t turn into another pattern UFO. I’m also trying out new color combinations with swatches and different patterns. Once again, it’s not that easy to decide… that’s always the part that takes the longest with new projects.
Since it’s too hot outside for me today, all of this works out perfectly. Plus, I finally got my super-awesome Singer sewing machine (free-arm and lots of different stitches)—which I inherited two years ago—up and running today. Now that I’ve finally read through the manual and successfully tested everything, I have to say, it’s really fun to sew again. :-)
I’d love to have a little helper who cleans the bathroom for me at home.
I actually got a request from my daughter today. Her friend is having a tooth pulled on Thursday. The second tooth is already coming in, but the first one won’t fall out on its own. My little one is going with her, and now she wants me to crochet some hearts so she can give them to her friend right away.
So tonight I’ll be making lots of hearts in all kinds of colors and with different hook sizes. That way she’ll have plenty to choose from—she can even take them all, as far as I’m concerned.
I wasn’t very productive yesterday: in the evening, after DH, gym, and English, I just crocheted the three missing mini spikes for the little dragon and then started on the hippo’s head for the comfort blanket.
Since it’s raining today, I should be able to get a few more stitches in!
Yesterday I already made two sets of three hearts. Today I’ll make the third one and then sew them together. I’ll add loops at the top so they can be used as keychains.
It’s a great way to use up leftover yarn. It’s also really quick. I’m going to make a few extra to keep in reserve. My little girl has a birthday party coming up, so she can give them to her friends to take home.
I’m trying my hand at a lace shawl. But since yesterday, I’ve unraveled it what feels like 20 times because I just can’t get the first few rows right. Since I’m already feeling a little frustrated, I’m going to head to my regular yarn shop today to sign up for the knitting group on Tuesday afternoon. I have to go to the bank anyway—so I can take care of both at once. Maybe I’ll pick up a few skeins of new yarn while I’m there? Maybe as a way to blow off some steam?
This morning I successfully weeded the garden bed and picked our strawberries before the snails eat them all again (we’re having a real snail infestation this year), cleaned the robot lawn mower, and in a bit I’ll have to help my daughter with her practice.
I’m not really in the mood for crocheting or knitting right now.
I just don’t have any ideas at all.
But you can’t force things, so maybe I’ll continue reading my book later.
The inspiration for crafts will come back eventually.....
I’ve also been busy cleaning, and I’m currently working on a unicorn pillow for my niece’s birthday - without a pattern - just making it up as I go along.... So far, I quite like it.
Wishing you all continued success!
Today I did a few rounds of the hippo head: 560 single crochets, then 7 rounds on the comfort blanket = 336 double crochets + 554 chain stitches, and in the 8th round 12 double crochets + 6 chain stitches, plus a few double crochets and chain stitches that I unraveled again.
I’ve just started filet crochet. I’m starting with a very simple pattern. I’m planning to make a bag. However, I’ve run out of yarn. So I’m setting that aside for now and starting on a blanket instead. I think I’ve got the hang of it.
I’m still on my “yarn diet,” so right now I’m looking for patterns that match the yarn I have, not the other way around.
I’m definitely not a busy little bee when it comes to crocheting or knitting this week.
It’s enough to make you cry.
I started a project using Tunisian crochet. I really like it, but it’s coming along at a snail’s pace. If this keeps up, it might become my first UFO this year.
This morning I took some new photos of a few things, which I’ll be posting little by little.
There are some things I can’t photograph again because I no longer have them.
I’m also continuing to work on my project for the color challenge.
Other than that, I’m just pottering around the apartment a bit.
I’ve given lace knitting another try. So far, I’ve cast on the stitches. This time they’re looser than before—at least they’re sliding along the needle now. I’m curious to see how it goes. To cheer myself up, I picked up a few skeins of yarn yesterday. And I’ve now joined the handicrafts group at my local yarn shop. Yay!
