As for missing socks—or the lone ones—I usually set them aside for now and wait. Maybe they’ll find their way back during the next load of laundry.
That’s why I always wash all my socks in a laundry bag. Nothing gets lost that way.

Otherwise, you can make those sock figures. I haven’t tried that yet, though. Since I have a lot of bright-colored socks, the loners are great for making Barbie clothes, hair ties, and the like, or you can stuff them with stuffing and turn them into dolls.

Yes, that was the vacation Bobbel. But it was not wound for this shawl. At that point, I didn't know yet what it would become.

The color change was a coincidence. I was already afraid it might really be centered, but I got lucky. Let's see if it works out with the second color change too.

You were all busy again.
The gray cuddly yarn looks great as a pillow. Why didn't I think of that? I had that yarn in my hands too, and no idea. See, Sandra, you turned it into a pretty pillow. Really cozy.

Everyone is already busily crocheting for Halloween and Christmas. I really need to get a move on. In any case, I want to have these little calendar bags finished for Christmas—that's the plan.

Sure, there are problem areas here and there, but you can live with them.
For others who suffer emotionally because of them, I think that’s okay.
Luckily, I inherited good genes from my parents, and I’m glad that I can eat whatever I want without gaining weight.

Here’s my progress.
The black color change at the end of the round was nice. It fit perfectly.

For me, it’s just a normal day—I have to work anyway. So no holiday vibe for me.

I don’t have any crocheted scarves—just some thin and slightly thicker fabric scarves. I wear them the same way Ina wears her scarves. I don’t like knots around my neck either; I feel the same way as Inge.

I own a lot of crocheted triangular scarves (without fringes), and I like to wear those, too.
I hold the triangular scarf by the long side in front of my neck, cross the ends at the back of my neck, and let the ends dangle down in front (not too long—the scarf sits loosely), without a knot, otherwise it gets too bulky.

So everyone has their own preferences.

Here’s what it looks like. Funny, isn’t it?

Well, I’m holding off on baking cookies for now. I’ve still got a little time, after all. But I can’t wait until the last minute. We’ll see how I manage to fit it in alongside work. I’m always so tired afterward.

I’ll definitely be baking cookies, though. I found and bought a locomotive-shaped cookie cutter at the aviation museum while I was on vacation. Of course, I have to try it out. Especially for my sweetheart—he loves his model train set.
When the time comes, I’ll post a photo.

The stores are already full of gingerbread and speculoos cookies. I’ve already worked my way through them—so delicious. But I won’t buy stollen until Christmas. They even have white domino cookies.

I’ll definitely be baking the gingerbread sheet cake (honigkuchen).

I took a look at La Critza’s. Interesting, interesting. I’ll sleep on it for a bit. Great idea, by the way, La Critza.

An interesting topic. I wouldn’t buy some of those ready-made calendars either, where you never know exactly what’s inside.
I don’t buy those Bobbel surprise bags either—you’re guaranteed to be disappointed because they usually contain colors that don’t sell very well, I think.

As a birthday gift from my husband, I got to pick something out for myself. And... brace yourselves....

The yarn is wound in a block, so there are no color transitions that blend into one another. It’s crocheted just as it is on the skein. That was intentional.

It was supposed to be a scarf at first, but then I decided on this triangular shawl (AL from here), but since the rows keep getting longer, I’m not sure if the black strip will be enough for one row. I hadn’t thought of that beforehand. Oh well.

I was so happy that the nice lady there wound the skein for me right then and there.
Ordered—wound—picked up—brought home—crocheted. It was such a wonderful feeling.
I already love this shawl.

I’m not a fan of spiders, whether crocheted or in real life. I’m afraid of spiders. But I like the spider appliqué. Did you come up with that yourself? That’s great!

When crocheted with Catania, the little bag measures 10 x 10 cm (which is starting to be a bit too big for me personally). I’m going to crochet it again with thinner yarn and then compare the two.
So it definitely holds quite a bit.

Thank you all. My vacation in the Harz Mountains is already over, but I still have a few days off at home.
That yarn shop was so small and cozy. There’s even a chair right outside the shop, just for the men waiting. That’s nice, isn’t it?
I’d read online beforehand that you can have custom yarn cakes wound there, and I wanted to give that a try. In hindsight, I could have picked more colors.
The nice lady then led me into a little back room, and there on the shelf were the cones in an endless array of colors.
I was so overwhelmed by the variety of colors that I just stood there speechless for a moment, and then decided on these three bright yarns. I would have loved to watch over her shoulder to see how a yarn cake like that is wound, but we still had so much to do.
An hour or two later, I was already able to pick up my yarn cake. Unbelievable. They also have an online shop, which I’m going to check out right away.

By the way, I really liked a crocheted triangular shawl hanging on the wall there. She said it was by Wollholic Claudia. Isn’t that crazy? It’s such a small world.

I just had to tell you all about this experience.

Not everyone gets to celebrate a birthday together with their dad.

Hi there, dear yarn lovers! Warm regards from the Harz Mountains, Wernigerode. Unfortunately, the weather’s been a bit mixed—rain, wind, and sun. Never mind. We’ve already checked out two cafes. Went shopping. Best of all, I discovered a yarn shop that also winds “Wunschbobbel” skeins. I got one. It’s just that the bright pink doesn’t come across very well in the photo.
One picture is of Wernigerode Castle; the other was taken in a cafe. All those cups and pots.

Oh Anja, that doesn’t sound good at all. Sad for the little hedgehog, but you did your best.
Wishing you a speedy recovery too, of course.

Starting Sunday, we’re going away for a few days, on vacation. I’m really looking forward to it, despite the chilly weather. Finally, some downtime and some crafting *joy*

Before I got into crocheting, I used to work a lot with Ceramofix (casting powder) and then paint the pieces. That was fun.
I had various molds made specifically for this purpose (motifs, picture frames, masks).
This mixture was similar to plaster, but with fewer air bubbles. Eventually, I didn’t have enough time to keep up with all my hobbies.

I also did crafts with this air-drying papier-mâché mixture. It was so light, easy to shape, and easy to paint. I used it to decorate my chipboard boxes.
I’ll take some photos when I get the chance.

So here, the weather was dry, cloudy, then sunny. I’d just gotten off my late shift, and it was really warm outside.

I still have so many of those old, thin metal crochet hooks, but I just can’t use them anymore. They make my fingers hurt so much. But as a fan of “Ostalgie,” I’ve kept them anyway.

I now have a crochet hook set with handles (my hands thank me for it), and I’m very happy with it. Sizes 2.0 to 6.0. I also have a plastic crochet hook set, ranging from 2.0 to 8.0. I hardly ever use the thicker ones, but the colors are so beautifully translucent.

For my filet crochet yarn, I bought a special, high-quality, expensive size 1.75 hook with a protective cap. I love it because it fits so well in my hand.

Hooray, I’ve finished another UFO.
Only half a heart was missing. Crocheted it together—done.
So happy.

Cowboy boots are back in style? Oh, I see. Of course I like them. Unfortunately, they’re crazy expensive—at least the ones made of real leather.
I only have these “fake” cowboy ankle boots; I’m going to wear them now that it’s late fall. They’re still in their original packaging. I’ll take a picture of them soon.
I really like those heels, and that pointy toe. Cool.

I’d love to try line dancing, too, but unfortunately there’s nothing around here. I love the cowboy look—boots, hat, plaid shirt—totally my style.

I, too, have been reading along with great excitement and following where all the wool treasures end up.

Dear Margitta, you’ve picked out some gorgeous skeins. Those could have “moved in” with me, too. I’d say those are subtle fall colors. A shawl made from them will definitely look great. I can’t wait to see it.

Ina always gets right to the point. Of course you want to try out your newly acquired yarn right away—a little here and a little there—and before you know it, you’ve finished crocheting the piece, and the other UFOs automatically get put aside. That happens to me a lot.
Eventually, I pull myself together and finish those UFOs or keep crocheting on them.
But I also have to be in the mood for it; then it’s easier to finish them.

Thank you, Ines. Once you’ve tried the mosaic technique, you’ll be hooked. There are sooooo many pattern examples where you can really let your creativity run wild. You can do it too, I’m sure of it.
With this acrylic yarn, the mosaics are as light as a feather. Cotton is heavier.

Hello, everyone.

Here’s another mosaic crocheted from the latest swap yarn.
However, the pink doesn’t really stand out. 

It’s pretty cloudy here today—the temperature is pleasant, but it’s cardigan weather.
My wish list is doing well, too; it’s getting longer and longer. Lots of projects are still waiting to be crocheted.

Sometimes the mail is really fast. All the better for you, Margitta. Now you have time to browse. Have fun with it.

When crocheting amigurumi or dolls, I prefer to crochet the arms and legs right into the body instead of sewing them on.
To do this, I crochet the arms and legs first, join them with stitches, and create the body by decreasing as I work upward. Then I crochet the arms into the body and continue crocheting the head right away. This saves you the hassle of sewing and makes the figure more sturdy.
By stuffing and shaping them evenly, you’ll end up with nice-looking arms and legs. Over time, you’ll get a feel for how much stuffing to use without making them bulge. Practice makes perfect.

Here’s another tip: try working on both legs or both arms at the same time and finish them in one day.
I once had the problem that if I crocheted one leg today and the other tomorrow, they ended up looking different. After all, not every day is the same.
