What a magnificent display of flowers, Inge. Wonderful. I love orchids, but unfortunately I have no luck with them. They always die on me. Maybe it’s because of my west-facing balcony. A south-facing balcony is ideal for plants, isn’t it?
I just don’t have a “green thumb.”

At my place, container plants, calatheas, and Christmas cacti usually survive. Things like that.

Hey guys,

the things people come up with. When I saw “Schluse,” I also thought of female prison guards at first.
But we don’t really need this kind of reinvention of certain words.
Except for the word “Sträkeln”—a combination of “Stricken” (knitting) and “Häkeln” (crocheting)—which I read about somewhere (at the shop formerly known as eliZZZa)—that’s something you can actually get used to.
But can’t we just leave all the words the way we learned them in school? There are already enough other problems. But it certainly made me smile. Oh well.

The sun is shining—off to the balcony—because tomorrow means getting up early again.

Love, Andrea

Thank you, and I wish everyone a sunny, peaceful weekend as well.

I’m planning to sleep in. I’ll be making the most of my free time crocheting (a blanket) and making cards for the start of school (for the swap).
The weather’s supposed to be nice, so I’ll be spending time on my “Balkonia.”
Then I still have my diamond painting coasters to finish, plus two birthday cards using that technique. So I definitely won’t be bored. If anything, I won’t have enough free time.

I have a question for Inge. What exactly is a “motif pillow book”?

Best wishes, Andrea

You’ve all been so busy again. I’ve already admired Anja’s blanket, too. Unfortunately, I don’t dare try that myself. I’m more of a crocheter.

The “Surprise Egg Granny” is awesome. Totally funny, and great for small pieces.

I’m currently working on a crocheted blanket with cotton yarn, too. When the sun is shining, I crochet on the balcony; sometimes it gets warm on my lap, but it’s manageable. Once it’s finished, I’ll post a photo for you. I’m itching to show it to you right now, but this time I’m staying strong and finishing it first. Let it be a surprise.

Vacation is over; tomorrow, the serious side of life starts again—work.

Hugs, Andrea

Thanks for the feedback.

I added two more details:
the windmill and the school cone. I glued both of them on.

I didn’t have any clips left to make the windmill spin.

It’s interesting to see how the yarn finds its way. The package has already been on a long journey, and now these yarn treasures have landed with you.
It’ll be nice to see what you make of them. I’m really looking forward to seeing your Olaf.
I’ve been wanting to crochet that one myself—it’s just so cool.

Wishing everyone a great rest of Pentecost Monday.

Best regards

I’ve been crafting again. I made a birthday card and a first-day-of-school card for a resident’s granddaughter.
What do you think? Can I give these as gifts?

Have a nice Pentecost Monday

Thank you all so much for the congratulations. It was really lovely. The weather was fantastic.

@Inge: And belated congratulations to you, too, on your wedding anniversary. It’s crazy—we actually share the same wedding anniversary.
For us, it was our 5th anniversary, but we’ve actually been together for 12 years—you’d never guess. Gosh, how time flies.

It was a 3-day trip with so many wonderful experiences and pure relaxation—it felt like we’d been away for two weeks. Wonderful.
Yesterday we took a steamboat tour of the castles and got a slight sunburn on our faces.

We’re already back home today. I’m still on vacation until Wednesday. That’s when I’m going to go for my first-ever facial and pedicure—just to try it out. You don’t usually treat yourself to anything like that.

Have fun, everyone!

Thank you, everyone.
We had a wonderful wedding anniversary today, and it was extra 🌞😎

Potsdam from above

Hey there, you little woolly mice!

Sending you warm vacation greetings from Potsdam—the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul.
We were up there.

Nice selection, Ines. Let’s see what you make of it.
Looks like my green one has finally found a new home. Great.

I’ll admit it, too—I use my crocheted fruit coasters every day. I use cotton yarn for them, so they stay put. My coffee cup sits perfectly on them.
Since I use them all the time, I’ve had to crochet a new one.

Otherwise, I use larger square coasters for decorative items.

Thanks, Ina, for the tip.

It smells wonderful in here.

Inge, your marble cake looks delicious, and even with whipped cream. I can’t do without it. Mmm, yummy. I’m getting hungry already.

Petra, your breads look really delicious too. What kinds are they? Seeded bread?

A spa day sounds like something I’d really enjoy right now, too. Veronika is right.
Dear Margitta, treat yourself to a spa day first, and then treat yourself to some yarn. It’s that simple.

Thank you so much, you dear yarn friends. A vacation is always wonderful after exhausting work.
We’re going to take several day trips, here and there. Depending on the weather.

To everyone: we’re also going to Potsdam. I’ve already Googled where there are yarn shops. I found some, too. They’re all close to the train station.
But maybe one of you has an insider tip for buying beautiful yarn cakes, etc.

Thanks.

Some gorgeous yarn got to move in with you, Monika.
I would have picked the colorful one in the middle too.
Blue for a boy is a must, of course. So let the needles click.
You’ll be quick again, and whoosh, the next baby outfit will be finished.

Then I wish you all a lovely crafting weekend with the new swap yarn

Finally I can do more crafting again too, because starting today/Saturday I have 2 weeks off, yay.

what wonderful words of praise. That’s always nice to hear. But you really are an unbeatable team.
I’m a user here, and I feel right at home on this platform. You don’t find a community like ours everywhere.
It’s so welcoming and diverse—simply great.
Keep up the great work.

You’ve picked out some lovely yarn, Maria. The orange yarn would have been my color, too.
We’re already looking forward to seeing your finished projects. Happy crafting!

With Petra, it’s always crazy and colorful; there’s so much to admire in the pictures. I think it’s great.
Creativity must run in all our blood.

Love, Andrea

Wow, Inge, kudos. At first I thought you’d been to the salon. It looks great.
I only trim my own ends myself, so it’s not as noticeable if I mess up a bit.
Otherwise, I go once a year—which is pretty expensive given how long my hair is.

Bring on the summer! Show us your hairstyles :-)

My memory’s a bit fuzzy on this one, but I do remember that we made something at school—we were allowed to take it home and give it to Mom as a gift. She was always happy to receive homemade gifts.

Tomorrow it’s time to go dancing again. We’re going together. I bought a little plant pot for my mom, with white flowers, and there’s a red wooden heart in the middle. Then I’ll treat her to coffee and cake, along with a big hug.
Monday is my parents’ wedding anniversary—we’ll have Merci chocolates, and the four of us will go out to eat together. It’s going to be great.

Wishing all moms, grandmas, aunts, and everyone else a wonderful Mother’s Day!

No idea. People had already left for the day, and later the whole container was on fire.
Maybe someone threw a cigarette in there. Doesn't really matter. Anyway, everything turned out okay.

Here are the pictures

I wish that for all of you, too, and for Josefa as well. Thank you—

The weather was fantastic today; it was almost unbearably hot on the balcony. I moved my crocheting outside with a cappuccino, ice cream, cake, and whipped cream. Amazing.
I took a long stroll through town today and did a little shopping (no yarn).
But the wind was still blowing, so there’s tons of pollen flying around, which I have to deal with again.

One more thing: when I got back from town, there was a commotion at our place. Fire alarm in front of the building.
There’s a construction site across the street (they’re converting a hut), and a container there was on fire, with thick clouds of smoke.
A few minutes later, three fire trucks arrived and put out the fire with water and foam.
Luckily, we had all the windows closed, but the stairwell stank.
The moment you’re not here, everything goes up in flames.

Take it easy and relax with some crafts, sitting in the garden by the pond with your feet in the grass.

Love, Andrea

Moni, that little skirt turned out so cute—just like all your doll clothes.
I’d be so happy if I could knit as fast as you do, and difficult patterns too.

My deepest condolences

Best regards, Andrea/Bastelfan

Inge, the yarn looks great, from what I can tell.
That’s exactly the kind of color I’d go for right now. Could you also use this yarn for crocheting?
