Crochet coasters

Dear users, dear authors,
do you like crocheted coasters? 

No, not anymore—that’s a traumatic memory from school. After making square cotton pot holders, we had to crochet round coasters in all sizes and colors out of raffia for at least a year—we had enough to supply the whole family and the entire neighborhood!

Not really. I find them too “wobbly” for glasses. They’re okay for bottles, though, since those stand more securely anyway. Otherwise, I’d only use them for decorative items.

Not really, Josefa.
I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and haven’t made a single coaster yet. My glass wobbles too much on them.
Same goes for makeup remover pads or pot holders. Not my first choice for crocheting.
Luckily, it’s all a matter of taste.

Oh, then I’ll come clean...

I use them regularly. For my hot coffee in the morning, for flower vases, and for candles.... 

I’ll admit it, too—I use my crocheted fruit coasters every day. I use cotton yarn for them, so they stay put. My coffee cup sits perfectly on them.
Since I use them all the time, I’ve had to crochet a new one.

Otherwise, I use larger square coasters for decorative items.
