Quick Summer Treats—Vegan

This is what a small cake with the chocolate mousse (see above) looks like. I added fresh cherries into it. In the fridge, the cake set nicely overnight, so I was able to slice it easily. It was super delicious!

For the bottom, I prebaked a thin cake base and then put the filling on top after it had cooled. That worked very well in my special pan. It has a glass bottom and the rim is made of silicone. The rim came off very easily, and the cake can stay on the glass.

This cake will delight everyone!

Bakery, Part 2.

Oh, everything here looks so delicious. Christina, I’m interested in the recipe for your rhubarb cake. Will you share it with us? I actually have some rhubarb in my garden and could really use it right now.

Today we had a small cake with vegan chocolate mousse. I tucked fresh cherries into it. It was simply divine. There was a thin cake layer on the bottom. The filling wasn’t baked—it set in the fridge instead. You can find the recipe for the filling in my vegan recipe thread—here:

June Projects + May Projects 2021, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

Oh my gosh! I haven’t been here for a few days, and now I’ve got enough to read to fill an entire evening. :-) Before I wrap up my sweetheart’s birthday with him, I absolutely have to admire your beautiful creations.

Ines, your dishcloths look great. They’re still on my list of ideas for the pretty colors I have now. When the time comes… dishcloths will follow. I’m really looking forward to your wedding-themed home bakery. It’s sure to be super delicious! I’ll show you the custom cake I made for my sweetheart later, too. We’re not eating it until tomorrow, since we had some delicious fish with asparagus today. That would have been too much all at once.

Christina, yeah, that’s true. Dieting really makes you hungry. ;-)
And I keep falling back into my double-faced knitting addiction, too. It’s just so exciting to see how a pattern like that comes together. Once my jacket is finished, I’ll be knitting double-faced again.

Ina, wowwwww!!! Your natural stone patio by the lake looks incredibly inviting. It’s definitely going to be your favorite spot. I’d feel right at home in that little cottage, too. It’s so meditative. In any case, it already looks finished—you’ll manage to finish up the last bits, and then you can enjoy this beautiful spot every day while listening to the birds. Sooo lovely!
Your new felt shoes are just as vibrant as the temperature blanket. Such beautiful rainbow colors! I love that. The blanket is really taking shape now, too. One row a day. If you add it all up at the end of the year, that adds up to a lot of hours. And then you’re crocheting another blanket, too.
So it certainly doesn’t look like you don’t have time for crafts. You’ve really gotten a lot done again.

Marion, OMG, Waldemar is sooooo cute! He’s got such a nice spot in your garden. If you’re not careful, he’ll surely get snatched away in no time. You can’t let him out of your sight. Especially not with your Stupsie… the two of them are absolutely adorable.

Anja, it’s great to see you reading along here again. Tomorrow is UFO Sunday, after all. Which UFO is up next? Maybe you’ll finally finish one. In any case, I hope you feel better soon.

Ruth, you look really lovely in the picture and totally happy. It’s nice that we get to see you properly for a change. Yes, I admire your thick hair, too. Unfortunately, mine has gotten pretty thin over the last few years. I feel the same way as you do about the old photos. I’m a little nostalgic for that time, too. Back then, we were still young and fresh. ;-) Time flies—I feel the same way. And that’s exactly why I enjoy every moment—even more than I used to.

Sonja, your blanket is absolutely amazing! I’m blown away. Such a beautiful and heartfelt design. Your daughter can’t help but feel comfortable, loved, and safe when she tucks herself in with it. It looks really cozy. And you’re actually almost done with it. It went by incredibly fast for a project this size!
Yeah, you’re right. 1 kg of yarn is 1 kg of happiness. That hits the nail on the head. I’ll get back to my jacket in a minute.

I want to have finished the bottom part of my jacket by Whit Monday. Then I’ll take another photo. I’m just so excited to finally be able to wear it. Let’s see how things go with the rest of the yarn. Linja will get a similar jacket for Christmas. And if there’s enough left over, I’ll knit one for Juna, too. The design will be a mother-child matching look, so to speak.

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful Pentecost weekend. Enjoy yourselves!
We’re at least going to have one day of garden weather, and I’m looking forward to it. We actually had that today, too.

Well, here I am again...

Andrea, Ines, Marlene, Tina, Ruth, and Marion, thanks for sharing in my excitement about my new yarn. Yes, it’s like Christmas every time a treasure like this arrives. I already have ideas for what to make with it.... I’ll tell you when the time comes. I do prefer warm colors, but I think this color combination has something special. I’ll definitely knit it in combination.

Ines, your mother-daughter day was surely really lovely. You need something like that every now and then, especially when a wedding is coming up. You’re lucky that your daughter lives close to you.

Marlene, your doily is really taking shape now. The color combination looks very nice, and of course the pattern does too. You have such a pretty little round table; the doily would fit well on it, even as it gets bigger.

Tina, yes, it’s great that you’re back here with us. Your dragon is so cute! Absolutely adorable and totally “in” color-wise. I could imagine a baby sucking on the horns. They’re just made for that. And wow—your idea with the kittens is great! Such simple things can bring so much joy. And sewn, it’s quite quick too. It would also make a lovely little party favor at one of the next children’s birthday parties.

Ruth, there really is something special about an old photo like that. It brings back lovely memories. I’ve only just discovered what a granny skirt is. You always have such great ideas for small projects. The Queen’s English soldier turned out really well. And he can even be filled. Wow!

I’m already pretty far along with my jacket. The pocket is now being worked in at the bottom. As soon as I’ve reached the bottom, I’ll show another photo.

Now I wish you all a wonderful day and some cozy clicking of needles.

Have a pleasant week

Dear Andrea,
maybe it’ll cheer you up to hear that we’re having April weather and it’s only 12 degrees—in southern Germany! We keep getting heavy showers, and even some hail mixed in. Some of the fields are already flooded.

For me, that means I have plenty of time to work on the computer and make myself comfortable at home.

Marion, oh how sweet!! Your Stupsie turned out soooo cute and looks really great in your rhubarb. Absolutely adorable, just like her little sister.

Andrea, your bag looks really perfect now, wow! It looks fantastic with the pretty carrying strap.

Today I got a new treasure from my swap page. Yes, I couldn't resist again. I just couldn't turn down the offer.

It's almost 1 kg of yarn—95 m yardage, variegated colors (one black, one turquoise) and a really great blend of almost 70% cotton, the rest viscose with acrylic. I'm sure it will knit up nicely. I recently got a yarn package from the same swap partner too, with a lovely virgin wool blend in turquoise, red, and beige. So you can see, there's quite a bit waiting for my needles and my hands. :)

Oh Sonja, I’m absolutely blown away by your blanket! It’s definitely going to be a heart, and with the hand on it, it looks twice as beautiful. I don’t think the transition between the two shades of purple is that bad at all. Yes, you’re right—that’s what makes this blanket so special. Your daughter will be thrilled and will always love snuggling under this blanket. I’m actually thinking about trying my hand at making a blanket myself. I’ve got quite a bit of yarn lying around with a length of 90 m...

Wow, Gabi, that’s quite a bit of work, stringing all those mosaics together. But with such a pretty result, it’s worth every bit of effort.

Marion, I’m not that fast right now. It’s going way too slowly for me. But since I have other work to do as well, knitting often gets put on the back burner at the moment. Yeah, the little ones will definitely be happy. And a little nest like that is a great little side project. I think this time I’ll knit two cozy swings. You can imagine them like a tall nest—open at the top. Then I’ll attach four hangers. The little ones love things like that, too.

Ines, what beautiful things you’ve conjured up! I’m absolutely thrilled with everything! Your Waldemar is just as adorable as Sunny. I’m blown away. If I had more time right now, I’d start bringing them to life myself right away. Maybe that’ll happen later. They’re just too cute. You’ve given them such lively faces… that’s quite an art. Yeah, the background would look better in a lighter shade. Of course, I like your loop scarf just as much. For one thing, it’s full of my favorite colors, and the pattern is brilliant! Simple yet with a great effect.

Ines, thanks also for your feedback on the jacket. I’m already 10 cm further along on the body. Since it’s supposed to be a bit longer, there’s still quite a bit to go. As soon as the donated felting yarn arrives, I’ll start working on the swings for the squirrels at the same time. Yeah, that’s exactly what I love—always something new.

Anja, it’s great to see you back out of the woodwork again. It’s wonderful that Sunny and Waldemar are having such a positive effect. :)

I don’t have anything to show right now; I’ve just been admiring your creations here. They’re all fantastic!

Have a wonderful week, everyone, filled with joy!

We’re having April weather here too, with temperatures only around 15 degrees—it feels even colder. There are rain showers passing through, and it’s stormy. Oh Petra, a hexagon blanket! I’m really curious to see what it’ll look like when it’s finished. I’m sure you’ll find a good way to make it work.

Sandra, how cute is that! The wallet is so adorable, and I bet it’ll pay for quite a few ice creams. Thanks also for the feedback on the sweater.

I’ve got some felting yarn waiting for me to work with. Someone just messaged me in the rehab group and offered me the yarn in exchange for postage. Of course, I can’t say no to that… and I’ll knit two little dreys for the squirrels out of it. I’m already looking forward to it. I just need multiple projects; otherwise, things get boring. In the meantime, I’ll also be knitting the Paris motif for my friend. And I’ve got a new idea in the works too… Help, I need at least 10 hands! :-)

Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday, everyone!

Oops, it went on even longer....

Petra, that’s exactly how I got into writing patterns, too. I always jotted things down for myself—otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to figure it out later. What are you planning to make with the hexagon? Will it be crocheted or knitted?

Christina, your dishcloth looks great with that pattern! It’s really 3D!

Sandra, yes, I’d say poly is definitely a good choice for your bags. That material doesn’t absorb moisture well and isn’t very easy to wash either. I agree with Marion on that.

Wow, you’ve written so much!! I’ve been enjoying real life more these past few days than sitting at the computer. We took a trip to Lake Chiemsee yesterday and went cycling there. It was sooo beautiful. We came home in the evening feeling completely fulfilled. We’ve missed that so much. But now I’m going to take a look at all the lovely things you have to show.

Sonja, I’m absolutely thrilled with your Paris crochet set! I really love the color combination. It really makes the picture pop. And you’re so hard at work—my goodness!
Yeah, it’s cool here too, but at least it gets up to about 16 degrees during the day. We had some sun yesterday, so we took full advantage of it right away.
Yeah, I’m also glad to get a little peek at who’ll be living in the nests and dreys. Unfortunately, I can’t show the picture here since I didn’t take it. But I’d be happy to send it to you privately as soon as I have it.
The pattern on your blanket looks really interesting. I’m already sooo curious to see what it’ll turn out to be.

Marlene, you’re hard at work on your crochet doilies again. A single-strand Bobbel?? I’d need a magnifying glass for that. Anyway, your doily already looks really pretty, and I like the colors, too.

Sandra, you’re really spoiling Anton’s birthday guests. They’ll definitely be eager to get invited by Anton next year. You don’t often see such great party favors.

Andrea, your mosaic looks absolutely beautiful with that color combination. I’ve already admired it in the gallery.

Marion, those dishcloths look great with your yarn. That’s really funny, because last night I had the idea to design a few dishcloths like that with different patterns. Something like that is always a nice gift and a great little project to work on in between other things.

I’ve finally finished the raglan section of my jacket. Unfortunately, by 7 p.m., the light wasn’t great for taking photos anymore. But I gave it a try. Here’s the result. Now I’m moving on to the body. I’m getting more and more eager to finally wear the jacket. If summer turns out to be as cool as it is now, I’ll definitely need this jacket.

I went cycling at Lake Chiemsee today, and it was wonderful. I enjoyed it so much that time almost stood still. Unfortunately, rain is forecast again for the weekend, so I made the most of the sunshine today.

Of course, my yarn and needles will be back in action again at the weekend.

No more yarn diet

Andrea, I’ve actually used acrylic yarn to knit some of the doll clothes. The new little dress is knitted with 160 m of yarn, and quite a few other things as well. But I’ve also used some with about 120–125 m of yarn—cotton yarn. I prefer cotton or blended yarn with cotton for knitting and crocheting.

I wish you and everyone here a wonderful weekend, too!

Today, for the first time in ages, I went cycling again—at Lake Chiemsee. I was so blown away that I completely forgot to take pictures. With 16 degrees and sunshine, it was a dream. The day somehow went by way too fast. It’s going to be pretty chilly here over the next few days, too—unfortunately. Summer peeked in for a brief moment—and then it was gone again.

Let’s just keep looking forward to the nice days. They’ll definitely be here soon.
In the meantime, we’ll keep ourselves entertained with yarn and needles.

Warm regards to everyone!

Andrea, I’m thrilled and can feel your happiness all the way here in southern Germany. Now you know what you’ve been missing for sooo long. I felt the same way just recently.

You’ve picked out beautiful colors—I like them, too. I really like the pastel shades. And the colorful yarn looks a lot like the one I used for the doll clothes and my cardigan. I’m already looking forward to everything you’ll be showing us soon.

I hope you have soooo much fun with it! And I hope the yarn has lots more “babies” soon.

Thanks for the lovely photos, Inge. I love the Rhön, too, because I was born there—in Fulda. We used to go on Sunday trips out into the countryside there often. When I was 11, I unfortunately moved to northern Germany and really missed the mountains. Back then, I felt just like Heidi in the movie.

Holiday

Dear Gabi, I wish the same for you and everyone else here, too.
I’m spending the day working with my yarn and catching up on some computer work.

Craft a wave pattern now

This "Blue Wave" top evokes feelings of sun, beach and waves. The lace pattern makes it beautifully airy and light. The measurements correspond to size 40/42

This shawl can also be worn as a poncho, depending on your mood. It is airy and light, and with the pretty lace pattern and pink waves, it is a real eye-catcher.
