To the RVO Experts

Dear all,

I’m knitting a jacket from a pattern using thinner yarn than specified. Of course, the measurements in centimeters don’t add up until you set the sleeves aside, and I was thinking of simply doubling the number of rows specified—so instead of 50 rows, I’d knit about 100. Do you think that’ll work, or will it end up looking weird? I can’t picture it at all right now. 

The advantage of RVO is that you can try it on every now and then as you go. That way, you’ll see where it’s best to put the sleeves on hold. 

Anja, don’t you have a piece of clothing of your own that you can use to measure against? Or you
could measure it on yourself. If you’ve made a gauge swatch, then you should be able to easily calculate the height or length, right?

I’m doing it like Ruth and trying on my RVO every now and then, Anja.

Yeah, I always try things on as I go, or I grab one of my RVO pieces and take the measurements. That usually works out pretty well.
