Yarn Swap Package No. 1/2022 is on its way

Wow, Ines, look at everything you’ve picked out. As far as I can tell, there’s even something from me in there. It’s truly a joy to see how the yarn changes hands and then something beautiful can be created from it. I’m really thrilled with this swap package.

The process of passing it on is going incredibly fast this time. By the way, are you still using the first box? It’s exciting that it’s still holding up.

New Knitting Patterns for February 2022: Start Knitting Now

Gloomy days are easy to get through when you’re knitting with colorful yarn—especially when it’s so wonderfully cozy. With this pattern, you can knit any size—from a doll’s blanket to a large sofa throw. You don’t need to sew anything together here, either, because the pieces are simply joined by knitting them in a specific order.
It’s perfect for individual leftover balls of yarn of any kind.

February Projects 2022 + January Projects 2022, Part 3: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

Wow, Steffi, I think it’s great that you want to knit that purple sweater now. That yarn was just meant for you—it was just too thin for me. You’re moving super fast with your sweater production.

Christina, the yarn from the sleeping bag is a wool-polyester blend, but it’s not sock yarn. The yellow one was a single skein with a similar blend and thickness. I’ll probably knit some more doll clothes from the colorful yarn—it’s great for mixing and matching. Merle still needs quite a few more outfits, after all.

Thanks, Ines. :) You’re really building up the suspense with your new project. I’m looking forward to seeing your photo.

Steffi, I personally like the female dragon even better—those colors are just more my style. It turned out absolutely beautiful. A real monster of a project.

Marlene, that’s something completely new. A tulip—I’m curious to see it.

February Projects 2022 + January Projects 2022, Part 3: the Crazypatterns Craft Group

Wow, everyone, there’s quite a buzz here! Just two days away, and there are whole novels to read and lots of beautiful new things to admire.

I especially like Marion’s tunic—it caught my eye right away. I’d love to wear that myself; I’m totally in love with it. That’s such a fantastic yarn—it creates such beautiful stripes. Awesome!! I had no idea you were so into home renovations, too. ;-)

Sonja, regarding your question—there’s a second washcloth in different colors.

By the way, thanks to everyone for the feedback on the bunny washcloths!
Christina, regarding your question about which yarn I used—it’s Drops Safran, 160 m/50g.
As for your question about the sleeves on the jacket—I like both raglan and straight-set-in sleeves. It’s not always an easy decision for me either. It depends on which pattern I want to use where in the knitted piece.

Ines, you’re hard at work again. Renovating—that’s something I have absolutely no desire to do.
I don’t actually think I’m that fast with my projects, at least in my opinion. I just treat myself to 1–2 hours during the day and in the evening while watching movies—though those are usually just audio dramas. ;-)

Marlies, I wish you peace and harmony at home and hope the storm spares you. I also think it’s important to have your own opinion. I didn’t have a good experience with always giving in during my first marriage. But now I’ve been in a happy relationship for 34 years, where everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and express it. I couldn’t do without that anymore.

Steffi, I’m looking forward to seeing your sweater.

Petra, I’m also really bad at felting shoes. For one thing, they usually turn out too small, and on top of that, they don’t have a very nice shape. I’m definitely no pro at this. Your shoes turned out really well the second time around, though. I’m sure you’ll find a use for the smaller ones.

Anja, your hat looks great, and the pom-pom is really perfect. I cut out some cardboard templates for this—just like Petra. I haven’t tried the finished ones yet. I just checked out am… and ordered a set right away—from the Ayasee brand; it comes with 4 pieces. Thanks for the tip. The inner reinforcement in your hat is also a great idea. That’ll keep your ears warmer.

Ruth, if the jacket was still usable for your daughter, that’s at least a good solution.
Your little Cupid turned out very cute—and it’s a great idea.

Today I finished the sleeping bag for my little baby—little Merle. I’m totally in love with the little one; she looks sooo cute in it.

Which craft topics are most important to you right now?

I’m really passionate about knitting. Crocheting comes in second. Back when my son was little, I used to sew a lot. And I could see myself taking that up again someday. Though I’d need days with twice as many hours for that. ;-)

Wow, Steffi, that’s great that you were able to find so much for yourself. I’m especially happy that you picked out the purple yarn I sent. It just looks thick, Ina. It’s very soft and fluffy, but the yarn itself is actually very thin. I’m curious to see what beautiful things you’ll make with it. Since I just couldn’t decide what to make with it myself, I passed it on.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

Marlies, it’s so sweet that the little dog is being so well protected by his new owner. And it’s a huge compliment that your husband praised it, too. You can really be proud of that. By the way, there’s no sign of spring here. It’s super unpleasant outside.

Dear Sonja, none of us has sunshine all the time. But even this will pass. I hope you all get back on your feet soon and that your joy in life grows. What knitting needles can do… I know that too.

Marlene, little cute things like a bookmark are a lovely way to use up leftover yarn and bring joy.

Steffi, you can look forward to the swap package as early as tomorrow. It’s going to be a wonderful weekend for you. :)

I’ve almost finished the first bunny washcloth. Just need to add the border. At least now I can show you the color combination—perfect for Easter.

Today I picked out some yarn for the little sleeping bag for the doll baby. It’s just too much to watch her shiver like that. ;-) In the meantime, I’ve wrapped her up in a blanket. Let yourself be surprised. The sleeping bag will surely be finished soon. I’m already looking forward to knitting it.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Yarn Swap Package No. 1/2022 is on its way

Yes, dear Ina, the yarn I picked out is really beautiful. I already suspected you’d included the felting yarn for the nests. As for the sock yarn—I decided today—I’m going to knit a sweater vest for Linja. The yarn is otherwise too scratchy and too thick, as I found out from the gauge swatch. But this way, it’s something completely different for a change.

Marlies, I’ll be knitting up the sock yarn soon—I’ll definitely show you the result here once it’s finished. I wanted to send the package out as quickly as possible to cut down on the wait.

Steffi, you can look forward to the package tomorrow—it’ll arrive at your place then. I’m curious to see what you’ll pick out.

Andrea, you still have a little while to wait, but there’s definitely going to be something nice in there for you. I think this swap is totally exciting—it’s like Christmas and waiting for the Christ Child.

Steffi, you’re amazing—a second dragon!! Awesome, I admire your patience.

January Projects 2022, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Handicraft Group

Wow, you guys are so productive. That’s just amazing!

Steffi, I’ve never heard of that “3-needle bind off” before. I’ll have to ask Google about it... ;-)
A mouse at the bird feeder? Well, I’m sure it was hungry, too. It doesn’t usually find anything else to eat. It’s actually rare that it even stayed put.

Marlene, you’ve been hard at work again—your shawl is sure to turn out beautiful.

Ruth, your shawl has lovely colors and looks cozy. Your photo turned out absolutely gorgeous again. There’s so much patience that goes into it—it wouldn’t be my thing. The gratitude of your grandchildren really does motivate you. That’s a gift for life. Your Barbie clothes turned out very pretty again, too. You’re just an expert at these mini projects. The owl mask is also a great idea now that it’s Carnival season. Awesome!

Marlies, that little dog is super cute. I’d adopt him in a heartbeat. Maybe the real-life version will do the same and think the baby is for her.
The knit sweater with the cables looks great, too. It’s nice that you still have a photo of it.
No, I haven’t started on the sleeping bag yet. Right now, I’m working on that cute cloth with the cuddly bunnies. It’s going to be an Easter washcloth for one of my grandkids.

Petra, the teddy bear looks absolutely adorable—you fall in love with it right away. I’d adopt that one in a heartbeat, too. The pattern on the headband looks great.

Andrea, such a cute bunny has come into the world thanks to you. It’s truly a very loving gift.

Yarn Swap Package No. 1/2022 is on its way

Yay, the package arrived today—and it’s already on its way to Steffi. With any luck, it’ll be there by the weekend.

I was so happy with what was inside:

I’ll knit the sock yarn—along with other scraps—into a sweater for Linja’s 6th birthday. She loves blue, so this is perfect. The felting yarn will be turned into a new home for squirrels. And I already have an idea for the Drops yarn… it’ll take a little while.

Since the box was already a bit battered, I had to tape it up pretty thoroughly all over. The next recipients can start looking to see if they can find a suitable replacement. Unfortunately, I only had one that was 600 g heavier. The Post-Shop sent it back to me because of that. For Hermes, it was 8 cm too “big.”

Now I hope all the other recipients enjoy the surprise package. There are still some lovely items waiting for you.

Oh Steffi, your two fur babies are quite something and very cuddly. It’s nice that they get along so well.

So, the shawl is now pretty much finished (except for the last few ends). But I’ll probably crochet an edging along the very top with the dark yarn. That will make it a bit sturdier there. In any case, otherwise it doesn’t need to be blocked. The photo didn’t turn out as nice color-wise as I would have liked. But at least I can show it.

And now the little new baby keeps looking at me as if it’s freezing. It really needs a sleeping bag first. My fingers are just itching to start... At least I was good this time and finished knitting the shawl first.
