Hello everyone,
I’m already so excited 😉—I can hardly wait for it to arrive,
I’m really looking forward to your “treasures,” and I’m curious to see what Monika discovers for herself 🤔
It’s great that we can all share in the excitement and that the anticipation keeps growing—
it’s like “Christmas”—only better 😘

Yay, the package arrived today—and it’s already on its way to Steffi. With any luck, it’ll be there by the weekend.

I was so happy with what was inside:

I’ll knit the sock yarn—along with other scraps—into a sweater for Linja’s 6th birthday. She loves blue, so this is perfect. The felting yarn will be turned into a new home for squirrels. And I already have an idea for the Drops yarn… it’ll take a little while.

Since the box was already a bit battered, I had to tape it up pretty thoroughly all over. The next recipients can start looking to see if they can find a suitable replacement. Unfortunately, I only had one that was 600 g heavier. The Post-Shop sent it back to me because of that. For Hermes, it was 8 cm too “big.”

Now I hope all the other recipients enjoy the surprise package. There are still some lovely items waiting for you.

If you want to get the box out already ... this one weighs just under 650 g, so it’s very light.

Oh Monika, you’ve picked out some lovely treasures. Like Susanne, I’m already really excited. A cardboard box shouldn’t be a problem—as an eBay seller, I always have empty boxes; maybe there’s one in the right size.

I’m already looking forward to seeing the photos.

Yes, everyone, a real treasure chest is waiting for you, too. I’ve seen that it’s full of things the individual recipients have been hoping for. Let yourself be surprised.

Right now I’m working on something else, but then… soon I’ll be knitting a sweater for my granddaughter using the sock yarn. I’ll mix it with some leftover yarns that go well with it.

Hi Monika,

that was quick, and you’ve picked out such great colors. I think the light blue is pretty, too.
I’m curious to see what your finished projects will look like.

Now it’s time to keep cheering them on. Have fun with the yarn swap, everyone.

Warm regards, Andrea

Wow... I haven’t really been here for a few days, and just like that, I get a package????

Monika, you’ve picked out some really beautiful yarn. 😍💖😍
And you already have an idea for it, too...
I’m so curious to see what lovely things are inside.
This will be my “bright spot” in a somewhat “chaotic” everyday life. ...
So excited 💖💖💖

Dear Monika,
you’ve picked out some beautiful yarns!

I’m amazed that you’re going to turn that sock yarn into a sweater. I’m really curious to see how the yarn’s color play looks once it’s knitted up. And it’ll keep her nice and warm, too. It’s great that my unloved sock yarn is becoming a new little sweater for your granddaughter.

And as for the felting yarn, I knew it would definitely end up with you. After all, the number of animals needing to be plumped up isn’t getting any smaller. As for the other yarns, let’s just wait and see if we recognize one or the other later on.

It’s good that you cleared out so much yarn. That made more room for new additions from your stash. Now we’re all eagerly awaiting Steffi’s report.

Love, Ina

The excitement is building. Monika, you’ve picked out some lovely yarn. At the rate you’re going, you’ll surely get started on it soon. And the package will be back on the road in no time.

Yes, dear Ina, the yarn I picked out is really beautiful. I already suspected you’d included the felting yarn for the nests. As for the sock yarn—I decided today—I’m going to knit a sweater vest for Linja. The yarn is otherwise too scratchy and too thick, as I found out from the gauge swatch. But this way, it’s something completely different for a change.

Marlies, I’ll be knitting up the sock yarn soon—I’ll definitely show you the result here once it’s finished. I wanted to send the package out as quickly as possible to cut down on the wait.

Steffi, you can look forward to the package tomorrow—it’ll arrive at your place then. I’m curious to see what you’ll pick out.

Andrea, you still have a little while to wait, but there’s definitely going to be something nice in there for you. I think this swap is totally exciting—it’s like Christmas and waiting for the Christ Child.

I’ve already “dared” to take a quick peek 😇—there are soooo many great things inside... I still have until Monday to browse, admire, and pick out my favorites. It can storm all it wants out there—as long as no trees snap and I don’t have to go out with the saw, everything’s just fine....

We’ll all wait patiently :-))

This is the perfect parcel for a stormy weekend. New yarn = new ideas—you forget all about everything else. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you won’t have to go outside.

I wish you and all readers a cozy weekend.

Hi there.....
Wow, it was so "hard" to decide with all that beautiful yarn. But I think I've done it 😂😇
Now I actually want to put more in than came out 🙈.... good thing I have the big kitchen scale. Then I can "make" exactly 5 kg

Please don't ask me why this bright green with glitter ended up with me 😉 I somehow totally fell for it.... it's a really loud color and it's scratchy, and yet it absolutely had to be adopted. I'll knit it in somewhere as a color accent on a cuff.... dark sweater with accents....

On Monday, the package will set off again for Ines 🌺🌺🌺🌺.
You can start looking forward to it....

You’ve picked out some lovely things, Steffi! I picked the green glitter yarn out from the first package too. I think I’ll make a dragon or something similar with it. (If I ever get around to it. For now, other ideas are waiting to be brought to life.)

Dear Steffi,

Congratulations on your new additions! You’ve picked out some lovely items. I see lace yarns, gradient yarns, thick purple wool, and a green glitter yarn. Lovely, lovely. Sometimes you see a yarn and don’t know right away what to make with it, but your brain stores it away. And then, when that one project comes along where only this particular yarn will do, you’re so happy.

After this exciting event—and with the storm raging outside—I hope you have a peaceful day today, where you might even be able to start working on your first new skein of yarn.

Warm regards, Ina

Wow, Steffi, that’s great that you were able to find so much for yourself. I’m especially happy that you picked out the purple yarn I sent. It just looks thick, Ina. It’s very soft and fluffy, but the yarn itself is actually very thin. I’m curious to see what beautiful things you’ll make with it. Since I just couldn’t decide what to make with it myself, I passed it on.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

I already have plans for the purple yarn—I happen to have some yarn here in the same weight that matches the color perfectly.... It’s going to be a sweater 😍
And the lace yarn has already been paired with two skeins of my own. They go together really well and can now be knitted into a shawl. A “lone strand” had hidden itself in that huge package; it’s resting for now among the hand-dyed yarns..... 😇
I already have some ideas.... that should be motivation enough to finish knitting my current project....

Great, Steffi, I’m so glad! I was thinking of making a sweater for myself at first, too, but I didn’t have any yarn in a matching color. Now you do. And just like that, the yarn can be turned into a pretty sweater. Awesome!

Is that the sponge yarn?

I don’t think that’s sponge yarn.... I looked it up online and there’s nothing about it there...

I only “found” it in a 500g package....
I hope it doesn’t end up in my shopping cart, because the color is seriously amazing 😂😍😂

Dear Steffi,

The neon-green glitter yarn comes from my stash. I actually bought it in a 500g package from a vendor at the Dong Xuan Center in Berlin-Lichtenberg (Germany’s largest Asian market). The Turkish vendor only sells in bulk because he’s a wholesaler. The yarn caught my eye just as much as it did yours when I bought it. But in the end, I couldn’t think of anything to do with it. That’s why a few skeins were already included in the previous swap package. The one you have now, dear Steffi, is the very last of its kind.

If you ever want to buy affordable yarn in Berlin, just Google the Dong Xuan Center. Hall 2, on the left side, the second store—that’s the (artificial) wool paradise. The large packages of wool are stacked tightly together in long aisles. Only one person can walk down the aisle at a time—there’s so much wool piled up on both sides.

Best regards, Ina

Hello everyone,

Today I was so happy—and to be honest, I was absolutely thrilled—to pick out this beautiful, thick yarn in dark purple, and now I can combine it with my own yarn because I want to make two blankets from it. Hmm, I actually thought I had absolutely no idea what could be made from what, but with this yarn I knew right away, and I already have a few ideas for the other yarn too, though nothing specific yet.
Here are the skeins I picked out

Now for a bit of organizational stuff,
Marlies asked me today to put her last on the list, meaning she will then send the package back to Ina, as she currently has no way of receiving the package. I honored her request and have now added/changed the list by hand; I didn’t want to pull everything apart after Ina really put so much effort into it. I think you don’t mind, right?
So Susanne gets to look forward to it next, because the package will be setting off again tomorrow at noon.

Best wishes, and have a lovely day.

Wow, Ines, look at everything you’ve picked out. As far as I can tell, there’s even something from me in there. It’s truly a joy to see how the yarn changes hands and then something beautiful can be created from it. I’m really thrilled with this swap package.

The process of passing it on is going incredibly fast this time. By the way, are you still using the first box? It’s exciting that it’s still holding up.

Monika, the box is actually still in great shape—I’d already checked to see if I had a replacement, but it was completely unnecessary.
I was also really impressed by the package; maybe we’ll have swap events like this every now and then. It’ll take me a while to work through the yarn, though—I’m fully in rug-making mode right now.
The package is all ready by the door and will be on its way tomorrow.

Hello dear yarn swappers,
Sending you all warm greetings from the Altes Land. My husband has fallen ill, so I can’t drive home. He’s having the same symptoms as before his cancer surgery. We’ll see what the doctor says on Tuesday. I’m pretty nervous.

You’ve already picked out some beautiful yarn, so now I’m looking forward to it even more.

Have a wonderful day and stay healthy.

Dear Ina, I’ve almost finished the slipover for Linja using your “unloved” sock yarn. The yarn feels great once it’s knitted up. Nice and warm and fluffy. I paired it with red stripes. I’ll also use red yarn for the armholes and the neckline.

Here are two photos, one of them showing the back. This way you can see what the yarn looks like when knitted. What I really love is that it creates stripes.

Ina.... I really don't think I'm allowed to go to Berlin on my own 🙈
I'd buy enough to fill the whole car, (I drive a van)
And yes, I could really use some fluffy/soft acrylic yarn right now, I'm going to be an aunt again and get to knit for the baby 😊

Marlies, I wish you lots of strength. Don't let it get you down 😘

Dear friends,
I want to thank you all so much (also on behalf of my husband).
We had a really rough night. I picked up some new medication today. If that doesn’t help, I’ll take him to the hospital, even if he resists.
I’m completely exhausted.

Monika, that slipover looks really cute.

Steffi, I’m so happy for you. Knitting or crocheting for babies is always something special.

Hi,
the package arrived yesterday—I’m still going back and forth trying to figure out what I might need,
so please be patient a little longer; photos will follow 😉

Then I’ll have to check at work on Monday to see if they might have a suitable box (the old one measures 30x60x45 and weighs 650g, according to Monika) 🤔
The box I’d set aside is unfortunately too small 🙄—if I can’t find one, I’ll just have to do what Monika did and use more tape; it just gets harder and harder to open it that way 😉

Oh Susanne, the box took a bit of a beating on its way to you. I did use plenty of packing tape, but overall it was still in decent shape.
Well, I hope you’ll still find some lovely yarn in the package. It wasn’t easy for me to decide right away, either.

Warm regards and have a wonderful weekend.

Dear Monika,
I’m amazed at what has become of that unloved 6-ply sock yarn—how it’s really come into its own. It just didn’t look very promising to me on the ball. And now, combined with the red, it looks really fresh and vibrant. I really like it so far!

Yes, the box. I specifically chose one that isn’t too heavy, which is why it’s 650 g. I had a sturdier one that weighed 1 kg. But then you would have had to do without 350 g of extra yarn. As long as there’s enough tape, it won’t fall apart. Besides, it’s all about the things INSIDE the box.

I wish everyone a wonderful weekend. I’ll be knitting later on—a baby blanket, of course. I’ve already finished one, but haven’t photographed it yet. Dear Steffi, how wonderful that you’re going to be an aunt again. That really gets you in the mood for new baby knitting projects. My head is full of them right now, too. We only have 4 weeks to go.

Best regards, Ina

Marlies, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you all the best in this situation. I wish you lots of strength.

Susanne, I’m curious to see what kind of yarn you’ll choose.

Thank you, everyone, for your feedback on the slipover. Now you can admire the finished piece right here. It’s suitable for both boys and girls. I knitted it a bit longer so it covers the bottom well and will fit for even longer. I’m curious to hear what Linja thinks of it.

Ina, the big baby countdown has started for you all now. That’s really exciting. What a joy it will be when the little one is finally in your arms. I can really relate to that.
Here you can now see what I made with your sock yarn. The slipover feels wonderful—snuggly soft and nice and warm. It’s perfect as a slipover.

And here’s the photo:

One more thing about the box: When it got to me, the package was already 50g over the 5 kg limit. But the drop-off point let it through anyway. ;-)

Monika, the sweater turned out really nicely, and it was finished again so quickly.

I’m still working away on the rug; after that, it’ll be time for the yarn I swapped for.

Now I’m curious to see what Susanne found; there was still so much beautiful yarn in it, and more had been added.

The post office turned a blind eye for me too when it was almost 20g over, and yes, the box... as Ina put it so fittingly, it’s the contents that count.

Thanks, Ines, for the feedback :)

Yes, the box — I’m curious to see whether it’ll hold up until the end. With plenty of tape wrapped around it, it should work — in theory.

This yarn swap package really is exciting. I’m totally thrilled.

By the way, I struck again today on my swap exchange. It’s not like I have enough yarn ... no, no, no. ;-)
I just couldn’t resist 730 g of beautiful 100% virgin wool with about 200 m per 50 g.  So, like sock yarn. You can make quite a lot with that. That’s just how it is with yarn addiction... (shame on me).

And the package will be on its way to Andrea tomorrow 😉

I’m not really sure yet what I’ll make from it. I wanted to try the Chinese-style gloves, a few little hearts, socks, a blanket — I’ve got plenty of options now 😇
and whatever is still left by the time the next swap package comes around might possibly travel on again 😂

Hey Susanne,
it’s great that you’re showing us your yarn treasures. Very pretty colors. I would have liked that little yarn cake there, too. Now it’s ended up with you, waiting to be made into something.

My excitement is naturally growing about everything that will be arriving here. I’m curious.
I have to work one more day tomorrow, then I have 4 days off, and then I’ll have the time and peace to take a good look at everything once the swap package is here.

This activity is great fun, and it’s funny to see which yarn has set off on its journey to where.

kind regards from me
I’m already getting quite fidgety

I’m always excited to see what happens next with the package. It’s great that everyone finds something. AND, the best part is when you can already see what’s being made from it. Thanks, MONI!

I’m not participating this time, but I’m rooting for you all. And I’m also curious to see what you’ll create with the swap yarn. So follow Monika’s example and don’t forget to post your creations. (By the way, the slipover turned out absolutely enchanting.)

Dear Ruth, dear Petra, thank you for your feedback!
In the spring, once I’ve knitted and felted the home for the care-needing squirrels, I’ll show it here as well. Ina’s colorful felting yarn is absolutely perfect for this.

I’m so happy for each of you and find this all really exciting. It’s a great initiative that we’d love to do more often throughout the year. I’ll definitely be joining in every time.

Steffi, that’s right. It fits perfectly with the days off.

You can look forward to it.

Best regards, Andrea

Hi, and thanks for the feedback.
@Monika + Ines—I have no idea what I’ll make out of all this.
Monika, the slipover is a hit 🥰
I wanted to try
my hand at knitting socks and definitely make a table runner for Easter 🐰—I just downloaded the pattern,
but I haven’t really gotten any further yet 🤔
I could have “swapped” even more of my stuff 🙄

I’m on the edge of my seat with you all until I can finally unpack my package.

It’s great that the “rescheduling” worked out so well. I couldn’t have left my husband here alone. On Friday night into Saturday, I thought he was going to die right in front of me. He could barely walk or stand on his own.
But now we’ve had the first bit of reassurance. It’s not that dreaded “C-word” again. We’ll know for sure on the 20th, when the urologist’s test results come in.
He’s still pretty weak right now, but he’s on the mend.
Normally, he’s not allowed to mention my name to our kids, but he told both of them that he would have passed away without their mother and that I’ll be staying here with him for the time being.
Wow, miracles do happen.

Have fun with the swap, everyone.

Best regards, Marlies

@ Marlies - that’s good news to start with 👍

Then you can focus on "your swap package" later with a clear head 🤔

I’m curious to see what Andrea discovers for herself 😉

Oh, Marlies, I’m so happy for you—I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out, and as Monika already wrote, there’s a silver lining to this, too.

Hello everyone,

just wanted to give you a quick update that the swap package arrived at my place today.
I haven’t looked inside it yet, though.
I’ve been in bed since yesterday with cold symptoms and a fever. I feel terrible. I’ll go to the doctor tomorrow. You never know—could it be C....a or just the flu?

Best regards,
Andrea

Hello, my dear crafting friends

I’m feeling a little better, but I’m still feeling a bit under the weather.
I was so happy to receive your get-well wishes.

It wasn’t easy to decide, but I finally found what I was looking for. A photo will follow.

Maybe the package will be on its way as early as tomorrow. My husband is so sweet and is taking care of it for me.
Until then, please be patient a little longer.

Warmest regards
Andrea

Good morning, everyone,

I’m still feeling under the weather. My stomach already hurts from all the coughing.
Thank you for your get-well wishes.

Here’s what I got. Not much this time. It’s this fluffy yarn that really caught my eye.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone

Very nice yarn.... I especially like the “crochet yarn” from Gründl 😍. Such a beautiful color—I would have snatched that up too 😇. It would be a great color for weaving....
Get well soon, and make sure you’re well taken care of at home.

Thank you all.
Now I just need to get well so I can work with this wonderful fluffy yarn.
Maybe I’ll make a teddy bear out of it.

At least the sun is shining today—that already makes a big difference.
My husband is so sweet—he takes care of everything.

Today was one of those days again!
Yesterday the windshield on the big car broke, so today it’s just chauffeur duty…
I just finally got home and there’s a big package sitting at the door :-)))
so happy ♥
I’m even surprising myself with my haul (these aren’t really my colors), but it’s sooooo fluffy :-)
And I put a good amount back in too ;-)

But I’m going to let the yarn “sink in” today and tomorrow—maybe something will catch my eye after all...

And of course: Thanks to Andrea for the nice little gifts ♥

I’m so glad to hear that, Marion. You’ve picked out some gorgeous yarn.
Yes, that green yarn caught my eye at first, too, but I ended up choosing a different one that better suits my projects.
We’re excited to see what you’ll make with it.

Have fun with it!

Hello everyone, your latest posts show that yarn is a great source of comfort! It always brightens our day, lets our imaginations run wild, and makes our worries a little lighter for the moment.

Andrea, I’m glad the plush yarn ended up with you. It’s from my own stash. I’d used it to knit doll clothes. But it’s so soft—it would actually make a lovely teddy bear, too. Though I find crocheting with it a bit tricky.

Marion, when I saw your haul, I immediately fell in love with the light green yarn. That would have been my pick for spring, too. But of course, I’m happy for you to have it! Since I can’t swap for it now, could you please tell me its exact name? I think it’s so beautiful that I just want to take a closer look at it.

I wish everyone a lovely afternoon.

Warm regards, Ina

Marion.... it’s great that two of my treasures have found new homes 👍. I’m curious to see what ideas you have for them....
....Hey Ina.... this one’s from my stash....
Cascade Yarns, Cherub DK....
I’m currently knitting my current sweater in purple with this yarn....

I’m excited to see how the swap package continues 😍😇

Marion, it’s great that you found something for yourself too—I liked the green yarn as well, but I ended up choosing the other purple yarn. Luckily, Steffi has now mentioned the yarn type again; I hadn’t done that, so now I can check whether I can buy it online—the feel was really nice.

Petra, your teddy bears are so lovely to look at.

Oh, by the way, Ina, we have this Dong Xuan Center here in Leipzig too—unfortunately, they don’t carry any yarn there 😪. It would be a real paradise if you look at the pictures online.

Hey Ines....
You can get them online. I think I ordered them from Love Crafts—I can’t find them in the stores here. There were so many beautiful colors, too....
And unfortunately, we don’t have a market as nice as Ina’s here either 😕
