Dear users, dear authors,
so here is Part 2 of the swap package campaign organized and carried out by the users and authors. Special thanks go to Schnuckelina, who makes all of this possible.

Wow, Marion, what beautiful yarn you’ve picked out. I like it too—especially the blue one and the mottled one.

Petra, your teddy bears are really cute. I once tried crocheting one out of plush yarn and couldn’t get the hang of it at all.

Now I’m also curious to see how this unfolds and what will eventually arrive at Ina’s.

@Ina: The light green yarn is (as Steffi already mentioned) Cherub DK by Cascade Yarns, color no. 11. It’s made of 55% nylon and 45% acrylic—but it’s incredibly soft, so you can tell just by touching it that it glides smoothly on the crochet hook ;-)

I hope you don’t mind—but since my friend (Frau Sockentrolli has a blog) lives right above me, she naturally had to take a look, too :-)) And she also found two more little balls of yarn. Since she mostly knits socks (the name says it all), she’s naturally adding some sock yarn to the mix as well :-)

@ Marion..... well, the cherub works really well on the knitting needles.... 😍
and it drapes beautifully, too....

@Marion and Steffi, thank you so much for your information about the Cherub yarn. You never stop learning, and you’re always inspired. Now I not only love the fresh color, but also that it’s soft and glides smoothly over the crochet hook or knitting needle. I really don’t like “stiff” yarns—they always give me a stiff neck because I have to use more force. Cherub really does come in so many beautiful colors. I’ve bookmarked it for now… maybe for future projects.

@Marion: No, we don’t mind at all that your neighbor, who’s interested in yarn, joined in the swap. It’s great that you have a neighbor like that! You can always get together for a little knitting chat whenever it works out. I imagine that would be very entertaining and inspiring.

Have a wonderful day, and don’t let the storm and rain blow you away.

Warm regards, Ina

You’re right. This wonderful plush yarn is just perfect for knitting.
1. You can see the stitches better.
2. The final result is nice and fluffy, light, and warm.

Crocheting didn’t work out so well for me either.
But what do you do now with 300 g of plush yarn? The rest is from the last swap.

I was thinking of making a little blanket for Kruemel, but what about the rest? Washcloths? That’s actually a bit of a waste. Do you have any ideas?

I could imagine a hat, a scarf, or even a slipover or sleeveless vest. I’ve bought some of that yarn again, too. It’s just too tempting

How about a cover for the hot water bottle... That’ll make it twice as cozy. 😇
The colors go well together.

Andrea, I could definitely see making a sleeping bag for Krümel, too. I’ve already crocheted with this yarn—to help me see the stitches, I ran a thin crochet thread of the same color alongside it. It’s not noticeable, and it works, although you still have to look very closely and use a larger hook size than specified. Knitting, however, works much better.

Good morning, everyone ♥

The package is heading out to Julia at noon today :-)
My poor husband gets to battle his way through the post office today—I was too scared to do it yesterday :-/
Thankfully, our roof stayed intact this time, but another tree got knocked down.
Just a birch tree, but ever since Ela really hit us hard back then, I’ve been a bit "scarred" and can’t sleep or work during a storm—so I’m sporting some pretty deep dark circles under my eyes ;-) ...

I repacked the yarn into a nice buttinette box, because the old one was only held together by tape :-)))

The third storm is supposed to start up again around noon today—so take care of yourselves ♥

Dear Andrea, you’ve received some great suggestions for the plush yarn. I like the hot water bottle cover best. But the other ideas were tempting, too. We’re excited to see what you come up with. And since your post—including the photos—is from yesterday, it shows us that you’re able to do crafts again and are probably feeling a little better already. If you can do crafts again, things are looking up and getting better every day.

Dear Marion, thank you for giving the swap yarn a new cardboard home. That way, it’ll eventually arrive safely at my place. That storm is really a bummer. The sun is shining here right now, but that’s deceptive—another storm is coming tonight. Yesterday, the storm tore our greenhouse apart. It’s just a lightweight structure and wasn’t built to withstand this storm. It blew half the panes right out. We kept an eye on where the storm was blowing them and then collected them. One was blown onto the street. If a car had run over it, it would have been ruined.

The storm tonight is supposed to get even stronger. We’re trying to save the greenhouse and are going to take all the panes out right away so the storm can blow right through. The plants are inside, ready for winter. Now we have to quickly move them somewhere else. Oh man, we really don’t need storms and hurricanes like this.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for everyone that we’ll get through the next storm just fine. It’s best if you all just stay home and be good.

Best regards, Ina

Wow, wow, now I can really look forward to it! I’m following along closely, but with the whole family around I rarely get a chance to reply. 🙈 I’m soooo excited about the yarn!
Up here in Schleswig-Holstein, the wind is blowing pretty hard too—the weather service says it’s best not to go outside... I hope our mail carrier makes it through safely and soundly. 🤞💜

I’m glad that things are sounding better again for many of you, and I’m already wishing you a cozy weekend

Warm regards, julia

Hi,
I could also imagine using the plush yarn to make—is it called a muff? 🤔
- you know, the thing you put your hands in to keep them warm.
But then I’d work the yarn double-stranded 😉

Or maybe a loop scarf to snuggle up in—the yarn is great for that.
Or a cozy pillowcase 🤔

Oh dear, Ina, that doesn’t sound so good—the storm where you are. You folks up north really aren’t having it easy right now. It was pretty rough here in the south yesterday, but luckily everything turned out okay.

I always follow along to see where the package is and what kinds of treasures you’re finding in it. So exciting!

Have a peaceful weekend and snuggle up in your home.

I’m also looking forward to the yarn package. I think Julia is the only one left ahead of me now.

The storm is really making a racket here right now. We’ve lowered all the shutters in the house, and it’s whistling and crashing outside. Hopefully everything stays intact. We lost several trees during the last big storm. The newly planted ones are young and strong, AND they don’t have any leaves yet. They’ll probably make it through this.

I’ve just made myself some tea, so I’m going to get cozy and keep working on my four projects. I really need to motivate myself to get started on writing up the patterns so I can add something new to my shop again.

Wishing you all a lovely, peaceful weekend.
Petra

Good evening,

even though it’s late—yes, I’m feeling a bit better already, and I’m in the mood for some crafting. It’s just that staying focused is a bit of a challenge; I still need to take breaks more often. Sitting for too long makes me restless.

First, I’m knitting a blanket for my doll out of my plush yarn. With the leftover yarn, maybe a small, cozy pillowcase.
If I had more of it, I’d knit a cozy jacket, because it’s so fluffy and light to the touch when worked, and it keeps you incredibly warm.
Without this swap package, I would never have known how wonderful this yarn is to knit with.

Oh, oh, Ina, that doesn’t sound good. Yes, the storm is really raging. Up here on the 3rd floor, it’s really windy. I moved my plant down to the balcony below. Up on the balcony above us, an old tin can is rolling around (from the smokers up there)—it sounds awful.
Otherwise, everything’s fine.

I hope the storm spares you from any further danger. Stay healthy, and have a wonderful weekend

—warm regards, Andrea

Andrea, you’re knitting??? That’s a real highlight! The fluffy yarn actually inspired you to knit. Awesome! I haven’t tried that with fluffy yarn yet. Crocheting with it was a disaster.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend with yarn and needles—or whatever else you enjoy doing.

Yeah, Petra, writing patterns is a bit of a struggle for me, too... I have to somehow motivate myself to do it. Knitting and designing are definitely more fun. ;-)

Hello, everyone!

Yes, Monika, the fluffy yarn inspired me to knit. To be honest, it was Ina’s fluffy blanket. Some of the yarn also comes from her stash.

The sun is shining right now.

You’ve got blue skies where you are, Andrea. The weather changes so quickly. And no matter what it’s like today, spring is coming anyway!!!

That fluffy yarn is absolutely amazing! I know—I like it, too. I just didn’t like the dark colors that are now with you, Andrea. The first swap package already had some skeins, and so did the second—now they’re all with you. And we’re really excited to see what you’ll make with them. In any case, you’ve already had a chance to handle them and knit with them. If you like them so much, maybe you’ll buy some later in your favorite color and knit yourself a cardigan.

If I were wearing one like that, I’d probably stand there with my arms crossed, running my hands over the soft, fluffy fabric. It’s super soft and light.

I wish you and everyone else a lovely, relaxing afternoon—maybe with a slice of cake, but definitely with a craft project. I baked a delicious cheesecake this morning, and it’s waiting for me now!

Warm regards, Ina

@Susanne, a muff is such a great idea—I still have some chenille yarn; it works well for crocheting and can even be used to pull a handcart 😜

It’s cool that you can knit with the fluffy yarn, but good to know—I’ve struggled with it while crocheting too.

But to the point: The package has actually already arrived! I’m so excited—my husband and kid even offered to go shopping on their own—so I can take a look right away in peace. I’ll check in again 🤗

P.S. We had a storm here, then hail, and now the sun is shining. It’s not even April yet. 😅

I knitted myself a cozy sweater out of some of that fluffy yarn. I absolutely love wearing it at home. Unfortunately, it’s stretching out a bit at the bottom, but it’s wonderfully soft, warm, and comfortable. I love it!

Ruth, the sweater looks great. The color suits you perfectly.

With yarn like this, you should probably knit a sweater without cuffs. That way, nothing can stretch out.
So, just knit all the pieces straight? Then maybe shape it by adding and decreasing stitches???

I’m curious to see what tips the others have!!
I’d love to knit one like that, too.

Ruth, I also think that sweater looks great on you. It looks really fluffy. However, if it’s made of synthetic material, I wouldn’t be able to wear it. I’m allergic to that.

Wow! I’m blown away! The package is already here? Despite the storm? Now that’s what I call fast :-)

Like Andrea, I also think the focus of the package is on the feel of the yarn.
It’s just a chance to try out certain types of yarn—to feel them, crochet with them, or even knit with them—that you might have always found interesting but would never have bought on your own...

For example, I would never have bought mohair yarn, but I’ve always wanted to try crocheting with it :-))

So I’m curious to see what Julia picks out, and then it’ll be Petra’s turn...

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday,

Thank you, Ruth, for the photo. The yarn looks so cozy and “teddy-like” when knitted.

Exactly, Marion —I probably wouldn’t have bought this yarn at the store at all.
It feels incredibly soft, too, and I was totally convinced it would be easy to crochet with, but no—knitted, it feels even cozier and is sooooo light.

I can totally understand why Ruth loves wearing her sweater so much.
But this yarn is definitely going on my wish list. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough for a bigger project.

Hope you’re all still enjoying your crafting.

I’m curious to see what the next yarn swappers will choose.

Bye!

A cheerful hello to everyone—
it’s Sunday today, and hopefully we’ll all find enough time for our favorite hobby. Just a quick peek at the computer.

@Julia—
I think it’s absolutely great that your husband and child went shopping on their own so you can immerse yourself in the yarn package in complete peace. You really don’t want any distractions then—you want to look at everything closely, feel it, and let your imagination run wild.

Marion described it well: you don’t just look with your eyes, but you can explore everything in detail and discover things you didn’t notice or see in the store. We all have our inner preferences and usually stick to what we know. Now you have the chance to discover something truly new.

I’m also really excited to see what I’ll find. Only Petra and Marlies are ahead of me now.

@Ruth : It’s great that you showed us your fuzzy sweater. It looks great on you, and you can really tell how comfortable you are in it. I think there are a few more people here who are interested in the fuzzy yarn now. You can also use the scraps to whip up some lovely little things (rugs, blankets, seat cushions) for the dollhouse:

I wish you all a wonderful Sunday. Enjoy the day and your crafts.

Warm regards, Ina

@Ina,
nice ideas—unfortunately, I don’t have anyone who plays with dolls (and besides, my son is already too old 😇; maybe someday with grandchildren 🤔)

@Ruth
I also think that sweater color looks great on you—I love cozy yarns like that too (though I’m more of a crocheter).

@Julia
I also think you should enjoy the swap package—or rather, the yarn—and let it inspire you😉
I’m curious to see what you discover for yourself

Dear everyone,
I was completely blown away — I hadn’t expected this before the weekend! I really got into it, slept on it overnight, and found quite a few things 💜

I’m not sure yet what everything will become, but I’ll be happy to share it here then 🤗
- my daughter wants the neon-colored Bravo
- I’ve been wanting to try one like that thick HomeDecor yarn for ages 😍
- and the bamboo yarn in red + purple feels amazing, but I still need a good idea for such a fine yarn; if you have any suggestions ...😉

I put in a few quite different things if possible, and now I’m sooooo curious to see where they might end up. I’ll do my best to get the package back on its way tomorrow.

Kind regards,
julia

Hi Julia,

You’ve picked out some lovely yarns. They’ll make for lots of beautiful creations—we’re all sure to be excited to see them.
It’s such a joy to see how everyone finds something they love in the swap package.

I’ll also be able to show off my first project made from the swapped yarn soon.

Ruth, I really like how that sweater made from the cozy yarn looks on you—the soft purple suits you well.

Oh, Julia!
That’s so nice that the crochet hook found a grateful new owner ♥
I bought it back in pre-COVID times at the yarn festival in Düsseldorf, but I couldn’t work with it at all because it has such a tiny, chunky handle, and I apparently have bear paws :-))

I’m curious to see what you’ll whip up with the Home Dekor - I crocheted dish drainer mats from it and still had so much left over :-)

It’s great that everyone finds something they like ♥

Hey there,

What a great haul, and so versatile. I recognize some of my own yarn in there too, and it’s interesting to see who ends up with it.
We’re really excited to see what you’ll make with it. Have fun with it

Today was my first time going shopping again after my quarantine. It felt pretty strange. I was quite out of breath, and that nasty cold wind.
I still have a bit of a break until tomorrow, then on Wednesday I’ll be going back to work.
It’ll be an adjustment.

I’m going to crochet a little more on my bunnies. Have a wonderful day, everyone

Best wishes
Andrea

you picked out some great yarn.
I would have “tried out” the HomeDecor yarn too 😉
I’m curious to see what you’ll make with it.

Have fun with it!

You’ve picked out some really nice yarn, Julia. I would have taken quite a bit of that myself.

Now things are getting really exciting for me, because Petra is the only one left before me. I’m already looking forward to it and hope you all have fun with your swap yarn.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Dear Julia, lots of beautiful new yarns have found a home with you. It’s great that we always get a photo. That way, everyone can share in the joy. And look—the new crochet hook is already glowing with the new yarn.

The fine bamboo yarn comes from my own stash. I used it to crochet doll clothes. It’s so beautifully smooth and fine, and it drapes really well. This one here, for example, is made from Alize Bamboo. It’s a Turkish yarn that you don’t see in regular stores, but you can buy it online. Thanks to the swap package, you can now try it out for yourself without having to buy it. I think that’s great.

Now it’s Petra’s and Marlies’ turn… and then it’ll be my turn :-)

I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Warm regards, Ina

P.S. I’m so glad, Andrea, that you’re feeling better again after your bout with COVID-19. But take it easy on Wednesday! Your body still needs rest and can’t function at 100%—regardless of whether you’ve been cleared to return to work or not. But swinging a crochet hook doesn’t count as work :-)

For now, here’s what I’ve decided on:

@ Moni, I’m curious myself to see what it’ll turn out to be. The Bravo Softy feels very soft. That’s enough for a jacket or a sweater. I already have something in mind for the cotton from Gründl.
The yarn in the back is a blend of silk, cotton, and acrylic. The colors are very pretty.
I’ll have to see what I can do with the yarn cakes. Maybe a little dress?

Oh, and the stitch markers!!! So far, I’ve always used bits of thread. Let’s see if I can switch over to stitch markers.

The colors are great 😍
I would have picked those bobbles, too.... Beautiful, fresh spring colors.... I’d have jumped right into knitting a lace shawl with them....
Silk, acrylic, and cotton—that sounds like an “exciting” mix. What kind of yarn is this? With that “little tag” attached—is it one from Hobbii????
I’m really looking forward to the next photos....

@ Ina: Since the yarn swap package is your brainchild, here’s a suggestion.
Should we maybe start a separate thread featuring attempts… projects… made from the yarns in the swap packages? Maybe everyone could show off the yarn they picked out, and then gradually share photos of the progress—or even finished pieces (e.g., from the speedy Moni)—of new creations???

hey Petra, that was quick with the swap package. Too bad it was already my turn. I would have picked out those two Bobbels too. But that’s how it is, always being surprised anew.
I’m already looking forward to the next swap package going on its travels again.

I made it through my first day at work. First I had to find my rhythm again. Everyone was happy that I was back. That’s motivating. After taking some time off, the first day is always hard. Two more, then time off.

sleep well

Dear Petra, you’ve scored some great “loot” :-) I would have liked both the blue ones and the ones with the color gradient. But they’re certainly in very good hands with you.

Now just Marlies to go, and then the package will be back where it started. I’m really curious to see what’s in store for me. I can’t just swap things around and say “yes to this,” “no to that.” I have to like them all or find them a new home.

Dear Petra, it’s a nice idea to start a separate thread with posts like “I swapped this” or “this is what I made with it.” But I think it puts too much pressure on everyone here. With me, yarn always sits around for a while before it tells me what it wants to become. I think we should post the finished pieces here in this thread. That way, it also fits the theme. Anyone interested can then scroll back up and review the history and contents of the package. So please feel free to post all your finished pieces here in this thread. Thank you very much.

Warm regards from Ina

Wow, my anticipation is really building now! I’m so excited to see what lovely things I’ll find.

Petra, I have those stitch markers too, but I only use them for crochet projects. They’re too thick for me otherwise. Loops made of yarn work better. Tell me how you’re getting along with them.

I have to say, it’s really fun to see all the beautiful swap yarns that are making their way around here. Let’s see what lovely things arrive at Ina’s.

In any case, I’m always in. That much is certain.

I picked up the package from the post office today and just took a quick look inside. I could keep all of this if I had enough to swap.
My husband walked into the living room and just said, “What’s this? We just bought some yarn. That’ll last us ten years.” Well, my husband just has no clue… lol.
I’m going to take a good look at it all, and then on Monday or Tuesday it’ll be on its way back to Ina.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the beautiful weather.

Hi Marlies,
hope you enjoy it—I also found it hard to decide 😇

Among other things, I picked out the Drops Baby Merino from the package—I would never have bought
it myself. To me, merino was the same as virgin wool, and I hated that as a kid (no matter how nice my grandma’s
hand-knitted Norwegian sweater looked),
that itchy, scratchy feeling 😒

And yet I ended up totally falling in love with this merino wool, even though it wasn’t exactly my color 🙄
I had to buy a few more skeins today (so I’d have enough for a shawl)—so much for my “wool mountain” 😇—but I stayed strong: I bought them in the store instead of online, and it was just the “missing” yarn I needed for the shawl.

Now I just need to figure out the slipped stitches and the color change, and then I can get started.
Oh, and my needles need to be free again (the “Zackenfritze” pattern is still on them).

Hi Marlies,
I hope you find something nice for yourself. It was hard for me to decide, too. However, I still have plenty of yarn left to swap.
Wishing everyone a lovely, sunny weekend (even if the world is turned upside down right now)
Petra

Hello, fellow yarn swappers,
I’m checking in again today too; I’ve been quietly following along now and then, but sometimes time just isn’t on your side.

Oh, that’s lovely, Susanne—the merino wool is going to become a shawl. I’d ordered it online, and as is often the case, the color looked sooo different on the screen, so it ended up in the swap package. Great—now it’s becoming a shawl; I’m curious to see how it turns out.

I’d taken that gorgeous thick yarn, and now my two throws are finished.

The gray yarn was still mine, and I had actually wanted to knit the throws in two colors, but then made each one in just one color.

In the meantime, I had to clear out a large stash of yarn and came across a few more treasures that I’d like to/could swap.
Maybe there’ll be another round. It’s really nice to see where your own yarn, which you no longer want, ends up, and I was amazed that almost all the yarn I added was liked by you all so quickly.

Now I’m going to get back to working on a commission—I don’t usually do that, making something for someone else, but in this case a former test crocheter of mine is no longer able to do handicrafts; two months ago she had her 17th !!! stroke, and although all the previous ones left no lasting effects, her motor skills have now been affected.

I wish you all a peaceful Sunday, even though the world is becoming a different place right now; think positive.
Ines

@ Ines
Your throws look beautiful.
I’m also curious to see how the shawl turns out (I wanted to try slip stitches/knitting for once)—I’m usually more of a crocheter—it’s just faster 😉
The merino wool has a sort of rusty hue—I couldn’t decide, so I added mint and teal—I’m curious to see how it’ll look 🤔
Now I need to knit a “sample” (with a different yarn) first 😉

This is what I got from the swap package. I’m so excited!
I drove home just to swap some yarn, and this afternoon the package is heading off to Ina. After that, I’m heading back to the Alte Land. We both still have a few doctor’s appointments to get through. Hopefully, they’ll be able to tell us what’s causing my husband’s pain.
He didn’t understand the whole swap package thing: “If you have yarn, why are you getting that huge box, and why are you sending your yarn away?” I tried to explain it to him: “Women and yarn—you don’t have to understand it.” Next, I’m taking him to a yarn shop…

Have a great day, everyone.
Best wishes
Marlies

Hi Marlies,
you’ve picked out some lovely things!
My husband didn’t get the point either. But he doesn’t have to ;)
Warm regards

Ines, your blankets look absolutely beautiful—and so does the pattern. You finished them so quickly—wow!

Marlies, that’s a huge haul, and every skein of yarn is gorgeous. It looks like there’s even something from me in there. I can’t wait to see what beautiful things you’ll create with it.

Men and yarn... my husband is slowly becoming a yarn connoisseur. In any case, he’s always just as excited as I am when something new arrives. He’s amazed every time he sees what I end up making with it. Luckily, he’s just as much of a swap fanatic as I am. Yes, I really appreciate his understanding—even for my ever-growing doll and teddy bear “kindergarten”... big grin...

Yay, yay 🥰 - I spotted something from me, too

True, men don’t understand “yarn”; mine would have almost keeled over at that big box 😉😉
- but then again, men need “the hardware store” 🙄 - which we don’t necessarily have to understand 😇😂

@Monika
you’re really lucky there - when I proudly show my husband, for example, a newly crocheted shirt - all I get is, “Well, if you’d bought it in a shop, it would surely have been cheaper and you wouldn’t have had any work with it.” Even with my beautiful big Frankie blanket, the comment was: for that money you could have bought yourself at least 3 blankets in a shop - sure, but not THIS ONE -  grrr 😒😠

Crocheting is a thorn in his side; I don’t understand it at all, I only crochet in the evenings in front of the TV. Okay, during the day I do stop by CP and look for new patterns or chat with you 😇😇

Dear Petra, oh, I’m so glad! The Bobbel, the Gründl, and the Softy are from me—I hope you enjoy them!

It’s so lovely to follow the journey here and always see the selection.
I think it’s a great idea to show the projects made from this yarn right here—it’ll take me a while too, but then you come across them here every now and then

...hmpft, the rest got cut off. :(

I also wanted to say:
Ruth and Ines: wow, the blankets and the sweater in the picture above are gorgeous!

And P.S.: My husband was at least a little appeased when he heard that not only is new yarn coming in, but some gets to leave too 😜

Hugs, Julia

@Marlies
That’s exactly right! Men don’t have to understand everything. Everyone has the right to a life of their own with their own interests. I don’t understand why men still feel the need to buy more tools, even though there are tools lying around everywhere. To each their own!

You’ve chosen “fine” yarns in the truest sense of the word. No thick wool—as far as I could tell, you’ve opted for the finer yarns. We’re all curious to see if we’ll get to see one or two pieces later on that the yarn has inspired you to make. For now, just work your way through all those doctor’s appointments one by one, and then I hope they’ll find the causes of your husband’s pain—and be able to address them specifically.

@Ines

Wow, what a great throw! I never would have thought that this thick wool—which I’m not a fan of—could turn into such a beautiful blanket. I’m impressed. Since I have the same wool at home in a different color, I’d love to know how much yarn you used and what needle size you knitted with. Was it easy to knit, or was it a bit bulky? I also really like the light-colored blanket; the pattern stands out more there. But they’re both soft and warm.

@Susanne
Yes, that’s how it goes sometimes. As a kid, you hated wool sweaters because they were itchy. You swore you’d never wear wool again, ever. And then, decades later, suddenly there’s wool that’s really soft. Your brain has to rewire itself to accept that there actually is wool that’s soft and comfortable against the skin. That opens up whole new possibilities. I’m glad you discovered the baby merino wool in the swap package—now merino wool has another chance with you.

The swap package is on its way to me right now. I’m going to spread everything out on the big table (or move it to the carpet if I have to) and then admire and marvel at it. I’m really excited! I’ll let you know how it goes.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. The sun is shining here, so I have to go outside.

Warm regards, Ina

Yeah, Susanne, I really hit the jackpot with my husband. He’s used to all sorts of things from me… grin. Of course, I let him have his hobbies too—that goes without saying. Whenever he tries to explain something technical to me, I always threaten to teach him how to knit and crochet… it works like a charm. ;-)
Speaking of tools… a screwdriver has gone missing from a (double) set. You wouldn’t believe how terrible that is for him. It’s just like if one of my dolls or teddy bears had gone missing.

Now I’m really curious to see Ina’s treasures.

@ Monika,
I’m not complaining, but I wouldn’t give up my husband—he just doesn’t really understand my hobby 😉. I think men often aren’t quite as flexible as women 🤔

@ Ina,
I only rediscovered crocheting for myself about 4 years ago (when I taught it to a friend’s daughter); before that, I actually did more knitting. But after a stupid fall that resulted in a complicated and protracted humeral head fracture, I had trouble knitting (there was too much weight on the left side 😔), but with crocheting, the weight was on my right side, so it worked better—and then I discovered gradient yarn cakes for myself—for one thing, I hate weaving in ends 😇, and I love those amazing color gradients 😍.
I’ve started knitting again now—let’s see how it goes over the long term 🤔

Hmm, men and yarn, lol—even though there are actually men who enjoy this hobby; I know two, and they’re really good at it... but within my own family, there’s usually a bit of head-shaking whenever another package of yarn arrives. My husband is patient at the supermarket or the model train shop, so I can make a pretty good case 😉

I’m glad the blankets arrived safely.
Yes, Monika, that went quickly—no wonder, with such thick yarn.

Ina, I used just under 800 g per color, and since I knit very loosely, I used size 5 needles; the metal tips made it go really smoothly.
Now I’m curious to see what all arrives at your place.

I’ve had my fill of sunshine now, so I’m going to do a little more crafting.

Hello everyone,

today the swap package returned to its point of origin. I was so excited!

Of the yarn I’d put in, there was exactly one skein left that hadn’t found a new home. Namely, this one:

Of course, I thought that was a great outcome, because it meant that all the skeins I’d set aside had found new owners. And now I could rummage through a whole package of new yarn.

These yarns have now made their way onto my yarn shelves:

I especially liked:

1. The Drops Safran cotton yarns. Such beautiful colors, and I’ve never had this Drops variety before.

2. The “Grünlinge”—a gorgeous shade of green, not a bright, garish green, but an “elegant green.” I’m really into that right now. Maybe I’ll knit myself a pair of wrist warmers with it.

3. That one skein of “Babywolle.” I don’t usually knit with acrylic yarn, but this one is really super soft and has a lovely shade of pink. I wouldn’t normally have bought it, but now I can try it out in person. And it’s already making a very good impression.

4. The colorful merino wools—also very beautiful earthy colors and fine quality. I could easily imagine using these together with solid-colored, color-coordinated yarns of the same type.

5. Italian virgin wool—I’m so in love with it. Very soft and a great shade. 90 m per 50 g. I could buy some more of this and use it for my next planned project. So this is a sample to try out before making a larger purchase. I definitely wouldn’t have spotted it in the store among the other 1,000 skeins, and besides, now I can test it out in person.

6. A colorful one from “Tausendschön”—the colors are really beautiful, too. It has to go into storage for now because I like it, but I don’t have a specific idea for it yet.

7. “Bravo Softy”—I had no idea that Bravo had a soft version. If it weren’t for the swap package, I’d never have known. A new discovery. And really soft.

8. I also really liked the sock yarns. But there’s no separate photo for them.

9. I found a light pink, super fluffy one to be a real eye-catcher. Unfortunately, I can’t wear it myself because it has too much fuzz and too many synthetic fibers. But who knows. For now, it gets to stay with me.

Now I’m going to sort everything out a bit and give some more thought to one or the other when the time comes. The yarns that don’t stay in my household will still find a lovely new home where they’ll be loved—I promise.

Last but not least, I’d like to thank Marlies , who included a personal note in the package: beautiful homemade pot holders (awesome!), delicious jam for Sunday breakfast, and a greeting card from her hometown. Thank you so much, dear Marlies.

I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone else who took part in this swap. It’s wonderful that you were able to part with some of your treasures. This way, we’ve enriched each other’s lives and brought each other joy. And I’m sure a few more things will be created from the swap yarn and shared here.

Thank you so much also for sharing in everyone’s excitement and enthusiasm and for writing about it here in this post. We all especially loved the photos of the new yarn treasures and the items that have already been made from them. Shared joy is double the joy, after all. A wonderful community project that we’ll definitely repeat.

Warm regards, Ina

Thank you, Ines, for the information about the blanket. That’s helpful for me since I have the same yarn in the color Mustard.

Best regards, Ina

Wow, dear Ina, I’m sooo impressed by your package and its beautiful contents. Each yarn is a real highlight in its own right.

I also find it interesting that none of the yarn I put in the package ended up with you. It found new admirers along the way. Great! Of course, that makes me happy.

Drops Safran is one of my favorite yarns. I have almost every color of it, and it’s a pleasure to knit with—and it washes well, too. I love using it for children’s and doll clothes.

Now I hope you enjoy your treasures. I’m sure you’ll show us here at some point what you’ve made with the individual balls of yarn.

I’ll definitely be participating in the next swap. It’s like Easter and Christmas rolled into one. :))

Thank you again, dear Ina, for organizing this and for all the time and love you put into it.

Hello, dear swap friends....

Oh my, Ina, you’ve received some really beautiful yarn too, and you already have a few plans—that’s great......
Yes, the pink baby yarn—that’s actually from the yarn I’d put in the package. My dear daughter brought it to me once, back when it wasn’t yet clear whether we’d be having a little Ida or—as it turned out—our little ray of sunshine, Wim, and he certainly isn’t getting anything in pink. I usually buy Gründl yarn for figures, but for babies…???? But then I realized it’s not so bad after all, and I used it in the other colors—mint and white—and it worked out well.

I’d also like to thank you for organizing this; I now have an even bigger box of yarn, and who knows—maybe it’ll end up in another swap package instead of on eBay, haha.

Warm regards, Ines

Hi Ina,
you’ve found some lovely treasures—the Drops Safran yarns have such great colors 😍; I would have tried those too 😇
Overall, it’s a fantastic selection of colors. I hope you have fun with them, and I can’t wait to see what
you create with them 😉
Thanks again for organizing the parcel—I’d love to participate again sometime 😘

@ Ina, I'm glad you found some lovely treasures too. The Safran is from me; Marlies already snapped some up as well.  I didn't get along with it that well. But everyone knits or crochets differently.
The "greenies" look great.

A big thank-you from me as well for organizing it.

@ Everyone,  now I'm looking forward to seeing projects in the future that were made from swap yarn.

Warmest regards to everyone

Ina, we were all curious to see what would end up in your package. A very nice mix. My wool/yarn has also already found new homes along the way, which makes me happy.
I would have liked to try that Drops Safran myself. But that’s what this swap is for—to feel and test things you’d never otherwise buy in a store.

I’m sure you’ll show us some of your finished projects made from the swap yarn. We’re really looking forward to it.
It’ll still take me a little while, though. First up are my Easter bunnies and the blanket for Krümel.

I’d like to echo the sentiments of the previous commenters and thank you once again from the bottom of my heart, dear Ina, for starting this “Swap Package” event. I’ll definitely be joining in again next time.
Exactly, Monika—it’s like Christmas and Easter rolled into one. The element of surprise.

Warmest regards to everyone here

Dear Ina, I hope you like the jam from my favorite farm shop.
I'm glad you found something suitable too.
Once again, a big thank you for organizing everything and for all your work!
I'd be happy to join in again next time.
It will still take me a little while to use up my new "treasures," though.
Best regards
Marlies

Hi,
I’ve finished my first project—my first merino shawl—which was snatched right out of my hands before I’d even woven in the ends 😂😂
