Abbreviations

  • Hello!
Maybe someone can help me?
An amigurumi pattern says:

2prsps, 1ssn, 1pss2n, 2ss2n, 1pss2n, 1prss, 2PRPS

What does that mean?
Best regards, Sabine

I’d write to the author and ask.

I have absolutely no idea what these abbreviations mean.

Isn’t there an explanation of the abbreviations in the pattern?
Have you tried googling it?

Good morning!

Is this a German pattern?
Isn’t there a key in the pattern?
Is the pattern from here?

I’ve never seen these abbreviations before either.

Best regards

I just Googled the first two abbreviations—they seem to be English knitting abbreviations...
Unfortunately, I’ll have to sit this one out—I don’t know how to knit :)

No, Tina, I think those are Russian crochet abbreviations, but I can’t help you with that either

Dear “Nadeleule,” no, that’s not Russian :-)
I haven’t seen anything like that before either.

@Tina
Those definitely aren’t English abbreviations—neither for knitting nor for crocheting... I’m not sure what to make of them either...

It might be helpful if the person asking the question specified the language.

It doesn’t seem to be Dutch or French either—these abbreviations don’t appear in the patterns I have.

So, if I’ve understood correctly, these are Russian crochet abbreviations written in Latin script.
1pss2n means 1 псс2н = 1 полустолбик с 2 накидами = in English, 1 half double crochet with 2 yarn overs (though I’m not sure what that actually means in crochet terms).
So, now it’s the Russian-speaking crocheters’ turn :-).

Dear Inna,
I would never have thought of that :-) I think you’re right!

A few hours later....
In my first sentence, the word "have" is missing

"Addition" should be "increase."

@Geraldin,
do you have any idea what "1 полустолбик с 2 накидами" could mean in German?
I’ve now seen somewhere else that pr—so, in Cyrillic пр—stands for "прибавить," which would also mean "increase." So "накид" must be something else. Do you have any idea?

Dear Inna,
I’ll send you a message....It seems that... the D-Stb stands for treble crochet, but the last stitch isn’t completed; it’s crocheted together... that’s how I understood it...
