Your Dolls and Teddies

Andrea, Lara and the one next to her are also sitting in the doll carriage. Those two are my absolute favorites. I’ll dig out the other photos today, because those weren’t all of my dolls and teddy bears yet.

Your Dolls and Teddies

Here are some photos of part of my doll family. The smaller ones aren’t included here.

Two more have joined the group—Lara on the far left and Julian second from the right.

And here are my teddy bears—just a few of them.

Oh Andrea, what a cute “family photo” of your little darlings. :)
That reminds me that I was meaning to post a photo, too.

I have those two babies of yours as well. :) They look absolutely adorable in your stroller.

Just moved in...

Dear Inge,

that really makes my doll mom heart beat faster. Your Steffi is truly very cute! And I totally understand why you’re so excited to make clothes for her now. Like I said, I have such a special husband, too—he once gave me a little doll because I thought she was so cute. He enjoys seeing the doll family sitting on our couch, too.

Yes, my doll kids are looking at me right now and want new clothes, too. It’s about time I designed something new for them and picked up my knitting needles again. I’ll have to come up with something. You’ve really inspired me now.

Best regards,
Monika

Peterle’s New Clothes

Dear Inge,

I have a special guy like that, too. This year will mark our 37th anniversary of meeting. I get gifts just like that (also with little hearts), and I’m totally touched every single time. That’s why I’m so happy for you.

Your Peterle is so cute—I’d adopt him in a heartbeat. And he looks even cuter in that suit—just begging to be hugged. I hope you continue to enjoy every moment with him and, of course, with your husband.

Warm regards from Monika

mowi19 has a birthday / 2025 / Knitting Socks Brilliantly Simple – Knitting Pattern for 3 Needles available now

Oh, my dears, what a joy it is to read all your congratulations. Every single one is a very special gift to me. Thank you so much to all of you!

I actually had my birthday yesterday, on the 19th. I spent it in a very special way this year. We spent two days at a beautiful spot in nature—a creatively designed old farmhouse with its own oil mill and farm shop. There, I celebrated with my favorite people—my husband and a friend. One of the highlights was the wonderful breakfast we were served, with homemade spreads, their own bread, a delicious omelet made with eggs from their own chickens and garden herbs, muesli, and incredibly creative decorations—all prepared with so much love. I really enjoyed being treated to a breakfast like this for once.

May the new year of life continue just as beautifully. Thanks to your kind wishes, I’m sure it will.

Warm regards from Monika

Actually, I didn’t really want to...

Dear Marlies,

wow, your Amelie looks absolutely adorable in that pretty little dress. You did a great job with the embellishment—it’s absolutely charming and perfect for spring.

To me, the dress fits her quite well. In any case, it looks great on her with the skirt flaring out a bit lower down.

I also wish you a speedy recovery and pain-free knitting and crocheting.

Warm regards,
Monika

You’re going to have so much fun with her. She really is absolutely adorable, that little one.

Actually, I didn’t really want to...

Hi Marlies, that’s great! Your Amelie looks so cute in her new clothes. You did a fantastic job!

By the way, I have two dolls with that kind of “sitting bottom.” You can see her in the leggings—she’s the one with the hair. Her bottom is actually very firm—not as soft as Sternchen’s. Maybe that’s why the pants turned out so well—because back then, those were the only two I had to choose from for that size. Even now, I always knit them for these dolls first, and then they fit the others too.

I’m glad your problem worked out so wonderfully.

Best regards from Monika

Actually, I didn’t really want to...

Oh Marlies, I probably would’ve given in too. Your Amelie is really super cute! You can’t help but fall in love with her.

My little star (50 cm) is just like Marion’s Mäxchen—with a “sitting bottom.” The pants fit her perfectly, too—the ones Marion knitted as a sample back then. They’re knitted in a ribbed pattern, so they’re very stretchy. They’re just a little higher in the front, but that doesn’t matter at all since she’ll be wearing a top over them anyway.

I hope you have lots of fun with your Amelie.

Best wishes from Monika

My next sewing projects

Oh Inge, that’s no age at all. We’re still in our 70s, so in that sense, we’re still young. :)) We enjoy life anew every day and enjoy everything the day brings us.

My husband will turn 75 in May, and luckily we’re both still very active and adventurous. And we’re grateful for that every single moment.

With our crafts, we can bring joy to ourselves, our family, and others. That’s what makes life worth living! :)) Without you, many children would have had to go without the joy you’ve brought them with your creations.

Love, Monika

My next sewing projects

Dear Inge, I admire you for your expertise and your wonderful garments.

You remind me so much of my mother, because she was (to me) practically glued to her sewing machine. She spent every free minute on it and sewed her entire wardrobe herself—sometimes even turning old clothes into something new. That included evening gowns as well as suits, jackets, and every kind of garment imaginable.

As a child back then, I didn’t find it all that exciting, because I always wore only clothes she’d sewn herself or hand-me-downs from my cousins. There just wasn’t any money for the latest fashions.

Today I see it differently, because I know how much love and work went into them. When my son was little, I sewed a lot too—including for a little girl. Now I’m getting back into it and working my way back into it bit by bit. That said, I have to admit I probably don’t have the patience for the kind of special details and intricacies you do. I simply have too many interests to focus on just one thing.

In any case, it’s great that it brings you so much joy. That’s what really makes life worth living! And now that we’re retired, we certainly have the time and leisure for it. Well, as long as we don’t have too many other hobbies. At almost 71 years old, I just feel like there’s still sooo much I want to do and experience. :)) I’m sure you know what I mean.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Warm regards
Monika

Trending Colors for 2025

Yes, I totally agree. I don’t like plain “colors” at all. And definitely not camouflage colors. I like things colorful and cheerful—I even like white. Ever since I started sewing myself, just like Ina and Inge, I can choose exactly what colors and styles my clothes will be. I already have a lot planned for next summer. :)

Best regards
Monika

Leggings Are Back In

I love wearing leggings, too. They’re just so comfortable, and they look great with longer tops. I don’t think they look as nice under dresses, especially since I prefer to dress more lightly in the summer.

My granddaughters also love wearing leggings. My first leggings sewing project is in the works for the two girls.

What’s your first craft project of the year?

Dear Petra, dear Inge,

thank you for your feedback. I’m really happy to hear that.
I’m totally in love with this jacket, too. I’m going to knit another, shorter jacket out of the red yarn combined with the orange-variegated yarn. But this one is just perfect for the cold days. I really like it this long.

Best regards
Monika

What’s your first craft project of the year?

I haven’t tried knitting both socks at the same time yet either. It might be worth a try.

Now I’ve finished my cardigan—or rather, my coat. This yarn is actually meant to be knitted with needles at least size 5. But I deliberately knitted it with size 4 needles so it would turn out nice and thick and dense. It feels fantastic.

This is the yarn—I really went all out after not buying any yarn this year. 40 skeins at once, because they were on sale. 20 of each type. These are the two types.

And this is what my long jacket looks like. It has inside side pockets, which I find really practical.

Now back to your amazing creations.

I also think Petra’s kids’ jacket and the knitted appliqués are absolutely great. I love colorful things, especially for kids.

And the doll clothes look very cute and cozy, too.

I’d already had the same idea as Ina with the underwear. The panties turned out great and are a fantastic way to use up fabric scraps. I’ll probably give that a try myself, since I’ve already had success making a bustier and an undershirt.

I also like Petra’s pillow. And of course, everything else you’re showing here is really impressive. I knitted a few pairs of socks in December and gave them to the whole family.

I hope you all continue to have fun with your crafts.

Warm regards from Monika

What’s your first craft project of the year?

Wow, you hard workers! These are all such beautiful works of art! I especially love Marion’s Norwegian sweater. That would be right up my alley, too. :)

I’m currently knitting a long cardigan—it’s more like a knitted coat. Tomorrow I just have to sew the side pockets together, and then I’ll show it to you. I started it right before the end of the year and it’s already finished.

Warm regards from Monika
