For me, a trend color is whatever I like and whatever suits me. I don’t let outside influences sway me. I like things colorful, and I prefer brown to chocolate 😉
I couldn’t agree more. Brown isn’t really my color at all—except on teddy bears—so it’s definitely not a trend for me.
That reminds me of a shopping trip with my mom many, many years ago. She was looking for a green handbag, and at the upscale leather goods store, they told her, “Green isn’t a color this year.” To which she replied, “Oh, and what then? A condition or something?”
We were already upset about it back then, but of course, stores can’t always stock everything, so a prescribed fashion trend like that is actually very practical.
I don’t let trends—no matter what they’re called—lead me around on a leash; I wear what suits me and what I like. I prefer timeless and sporty-elegant styles.
I’m actually annoyed by the trend colors dictated by the fashion industry. Especially in recent years, these khaki, olive, and mud tones have been everywhere—just like in the army. Even little kids’ jackets and pants were in camouflage colors and patterns. Horrible!
I expressly distance myself from trend colors. Aside from the fact that I won’t buy items in the “wrong” colors, they don’t interest me at all. Fortunately, my sewing skills are getting better and better, and I’m filling my closet with the colors and patterns of my choice. They bring me joy, put me in a good mood, and I love wearing them. No military or camouflage colors are coming into my house!
I agree with the previous speakers—there’s no such thing as “trend colors.”
I go with what I like, and brown is only there as a contrast at most.
Everyone should express their own taste and not submit to whatever trends are dictated to them.
Yes, I totally agree. I don’t like plain “colors” at all. And definitely not camouflage colors. I like things colorful and cheerful—I even like white. Ever since I started sewing myself, just like Ina and Inge, I can choose exactly what colors and styles my clothes will be. I already have a lot planned for next summer. :)
I also agree with the previous commenters. They always say, “If you want to keep up with fashion, you’ve got to be quick on your feet”—and at our age, we just can’t keep up.
No, joking aside.
These trend colors and fashion cuts are sometimes awful. I prefer things colorful and bright. I only buy what I like and what suits me. If there’s nothing for me, then I don’t buy anything.
Have you guys noticed, too, that fashion seems to be geared only toward young people? Most of the time, anyway. Tight, crop-top pieces, tops—yes, I like glitter too, but it has to be comfortable and suitable for everyday wear.
And those oversized jackets and the like that look three sizes too big—that’s just not on. Normal shoes that I like are rarely available. Everything has such chunky heels. Who even comes up with something so impractical? It’s supposed to look chic and make money :-(
I think I’ll have to start sewing, too. I can ask Ina and Monika for advice :-)
Have a pleasant rest of the week, everyone
Best wishes, Andrea
