Cable patterns

Cable patterns are timeless and somehow add a little something extra to a garment—even if the rest is knitted in stockinette stitch. Rustic clothing like vests and jackets, or even traditional folk costumes, simply need a cable pattern.

Little Helpers Tuesday: How’s it going?

I’m hard at work writing patterns. In between, I’m taking advantage of the nice weather to go for a walk.

February Projects: Part 2.

Marion, that looks great. I’m amazed at what can be done with a vase.
To be honest, I wouldn’t have thought of it without the assignment.

I’m still working on mine. And now that I think about it, I’m already on the lookout for vases that are just begging to be wrapped in yarn. ;-)

Have a wonderful evening, and may your needles dance merrily.

Bags + Backpacks + Shopping Bags

This shoulder bag is perfect for taking to kindergarten, but also for walks or shopping trips. Children love bags because they can hide lots of treasures inside.

The strap can be adjusted to 3 sizes, so the bag can fit the child’s size well. A bottom has also been crocheted into the bag for better stability.

For crocheters with a little experience, the bag is easy to make. All steps are clearly explained.

It’s Monday: How are you all doing?

Here, the spring weather is tempting us to go for walks and spend time in the garden. I’ve also decided to finally finish writing at least one pattern.

We’re invited over to our neighbor’s for a vegan dinner tonight.

Ah, I’ve learned something new again. So it’s the Schlüttli. Great!

Yes, Anja, I’m actually thinking about creating a Schlüttli like that for adults—but not until next fall. It looks really great with a button placket on the side.

Right now, I’m not in the mood for big projects at all. I wish you all a fantastic week! Spring is arriving here starting tomorrow... can’t wait!

Anja, I absolutely have to tell you something, since you were the one who came up with the idea for an adult-sized Schlüttli....

I gave my husband a really surprised look yesterday. Imagine that—he actually asked for a Schlüttli for himself. I’m dying of laughter.....

Wow, Marion, I really like what you’ve crocheted there, too.
I’m using a different jar—a slightly taller one that used to hold jam or pickles. I’m planning to put flowers in it. I think it’s a really great idea, and if I like the result, I’ll crochet something like that for myself, too.

For this, I’m using up the yellow yarn I used for the little Teddy-Schlüttli, mixed with a lighter shade of purple. That way, I can use up my leftovers at the same time.

Right now, I don’t really feel like doing any crafts in the evenings. Yesterday I watched a movie, and it was almost like being at the cinema. Usually, I only catch the sound. ;-)

February Projects: Part 2.

Dear Sofi, Marion, and Ruth - thanks for sharing my excitement! :)

Sofi, I’m really excited to see your train. I’m sure it’ll turn out great.

In between, I’ve got something on my crochet hook again now. My sister-in-law wants a cover for a flower vase. Yesterday I already frogged it a few times because I didn’t like it yet. I’m just trying things out a bit; it’ll work out.

At the moment I just prefer knitting, but I’m not sure yet what I want to start now. Possibly a Schlüttli cardigan for Linja’s baby doll from the leftovers from the baby Schlüttli. But first I need the measurements for that.

Are you in a spring mood?

Here, the rain overnight melted away a lot of the snow. It’s cool again right now, but the birds and nature coming back to life are already putting me in a pre-spring mood.

Bright splashes of color make you happy: download designs with bold and neon colors here

This “Scrap-Eaters” gang is so cheerful. I can honestly say that crocheting them is addictive. And before you know it, you’ve given them away as gifts. At least that’s how it is for me.

The Scrap-Eaters didn’t get their name by chance—they actually eat up lots of scraps, even the tiniest ones, that you’d otherwise hardly be able to use. You can let your imagination run wild here and even make them together with your kids. All you need are empty toilet paper rolls and yarn—and maybe some buttons.

You can find the crochet pattern and some great examples of how they work at this link.

These two funny door guards—the bear and the owl—are absolutely loved by room occupants because they replace a key. Children especially are delighted to get such a practical gift.

It’s best to start right away, then you’ll already have an Easter gift to hide.

February Projects: Part 2.

Yes, Anja, I’ve also been thinking more and more about synthetic materials and how they affect our bodies. I really don’t like working with acrylic. Only if I have scraps—then they can be used for teddy bear or doll clothes. But for the baby, I want to knit with pure natural fibers.

I’ve already made some progress on the Schlüttli in the garden today. Here’s what it looks like now:

This time, I have the button placket on the left side of the body. I’ll knit hearts into the bottom using a knit-purl pattern.

I wonder if there are Schlüttlis for adults? That’s a great idea—it would definitely look fantastic with the button placket on the side. You’d just need to scale it up to larger sizes. In any case, it’s great for babies because there’s no need to pull anything over their heads.
