Oh, how pretty—you’ve already set up such lovely things. Awesome! :)

Door hangers as “guards” are a must, too. They show whether you’re allowed into the room or not. Since the house has several rooms, I’m contributing two different ones right away.

How are you all doing? Happy with September?

@Manufaktur-Chouette
I’d like to congratulate you warmly on your 1,000th sale! This is a very special moment, and you really should celebrate it and be happy. From now on, things will actually go much faster—you’ll see.

Enjoy your time with your grandchildren! I have two girls myself, one of whom is 4 months old. It’s such a wonderful feeling to be a grandma and knit for my grandchildren. I absolutely love it.

Best regards
Monika

October Projects: Fun with Handicrafts + Nice Chats

Well, this is going to be an exciting month. You all have a lot planned—and so do I, by the way.
Mel, your bag is sure to look great, knowing you. Those are some real challenges. Just from the colors, I can already picture it looking very pretty. And I’m sure you’ll do a great job with the little duck, too. I’m sure you’ll show it to us when it’s finished.

I knitted a sock for the baby today, and I’ll start on the second one tonight. Then I’ll add some mittens—all made from the leftover yarn from the leggings. It’s sure to be a cute set.

After that, I want to knit a jacket for the baby that should fit for a little longer. I’ve already got the yarn ready. It’ll be yellow with brown accents.

I hope you all have fun with your needlework!

Forum game: Let’s decorate a house with handmade crafts :)

I just had an idea. We all love crafts, and everyone creates them in their own unique way.
How about we use them to decorate a house?

No matter what you make or what materials you use—it could be anything from handmade items to embroidery, knitting, crocheting, or whatever else you can think of—

we can work together to beautifully decorate a house.

Let your imagination run wild. I’m excited to see what we’ll come up with here.

Feel free to upload photos, but please only your own! That’s the only way to avoid copyright infringement.

Let’s get started! I’ll kick things off in my next post...

I had a wonderful September! I was finally able to hug my grandchildren again, and I also had a vacation—with time to knit. With the beautiful weather, I was also able to enjoy the garden often.

Final Sprint and Awards Ceremony // September Edition 2019

Alien King/Queen: more UFOs are always better
[ x] I have many UFOs / WIPs that are still waiting to be finished, and therefore I am King/Queen of the alien planet. :- )
The cowl for my friend still needs to be sewn together, so it isn’t finished yet.
Then there is also a doll sleeping bag waiting to be finished crocheted. It has been sitting there since August.

Best at Leftovers in September: everything gets used
[x ] I used up a lot of leftover yarn in September and have truly earned the title Best at Leftovers.
I knitted socks with leftover yarn for one granddaughter, and a hat for the other.
I also knitted a cowl from lots of colorful leftover yarn.
And the doll leggings were also knitted from leftovers.

Shopping Queen / King in September:
This honorary title is for everyone who enjoys shopping. Photos are always great.
[ x] I significantly stocked up my stash of yarn / materials in September and had tons of fun doing it. :- )
Details:
After 10 months of a yarn diet, I simply couldn’t resist anymore and stocked up on new yarn in various shops while on vacation. It was pure happiness! :)
Two gradient cakes are included too.

Sock Queen / Sock King in September
[ x] I finally knitted socks again, this time for my granddaughter. They even got finished. The doll got little socks too.

Busy Little Helper in September
[x ] I was able to get done / finish / complete lots of handmade projects in September.
Details:
Leggings made from leftover yarn for the doll.

Scarf for my friend (not quite finished yet)

Socks and hat for the grandchildren

The project for the color event (still secret until October 4) ;-)

2 patterns that I bought here more than 2 years ago, I finally used, and I knitted a cowl for my husband and one for myself from leftover yarn.

[ x] I was also very busy offline / in everyday life in September.
Harvested raspberries in the garden every day, tried out lots of vegan recipes

Author title in September
[ x] I completed at least one new pattern in September and uploaded it here.
Write details here. Link and image allowed.

The baby leggings for my little granddaughter.
The mother is happy, because the thick cloth diaper fits comfortably inside and they fit really wonderfully.

[x ] I worked on current seasonal themes in September (fall, winter, Halloween, Advent, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, etc.) and uploaded one or more patterns for them.
See the baby leggings

Wallflower Rescuer in September
[ x] I finally completed my oldest pattern (purchased or also downloaded for free), or a pattern that had been left untouched for a long time, and therefore I am a Wallflower Rescuer.
Details:
The cowl for my husband and the cowl for me.

Rescuer of stubborn yarn / stubborn material
(formerly called Stepkid Yarn Rescuer // Stepkid Material Rescuer )
[ x] I used old or difficult yarn in September and therefore I am a rescuer of stubborn yarn / Yarn Rescuer.
Details: I used unloved yarn for both cowls.

Taming the Frogging Monster in September
[ x] In September, I unraveled part or several parts of an unfinished handmade project/UFO and then finished it after all. Therefore I am a Tamer of the Frogging Monster.
Details:
I had already finished the hat for my little granddaughter and then noticed that it was much too big.
So I frogged the whole thing and then started again. Now it’s finished.

Garden season in the final stretch // Start of fall7winter, preparations for Halloween, Advent, Christmas
[x ] I had pleasant cozy-blanket evenings.
Details: I finished some handmade projects that way.

[ x] I used the sunny moments and had fun in the garden / park / on the balcony, etc., one more time.
Details: I also knitted a lot outside at the campsite while on vacation.

September Projects: Have Fun, Everyone.

Sandra, you’ve been very busy. Everything you’ve sewn for Anton and the teddy bear looks great.

Yes, Claudia, I agree with Josefa. Your blanket is practically begging for you to snuggle up in it. The winter months are long. ;-)

I still need to check my UFOs to see what’s finished. I only know one thing so far—I’ll be taking some with me into next month. And I’ve gotten a lot done this month. Here’s my entry for the Sock Queen—I finished these yesterday, and they’ll be going to my granddaughter soon:

Today I knitted a hat for my grandbaby—out on the patio in summery temperatures and sunshine. I’ll show it to you tomorrow; it’s too dark for photos right now.

These leggings made from sock yarn will keep your baby nice and cozy warm. They’re comfortable and still fit snugly. They even fit over the thickest cloth diaper. The leggings grow with your baby and fit from 3 to at least 12 months, more likely even 18 months.

Easy to knit - in one piece.

Note: I also have patterns for toddler leggings in my shop.

Of course, the sweater also fits teddy bears of a similar size.

Weekend Plans: What Are You Up To?

Today I’m going to make the most of this lovely afternoon and knit some socks for my granddaughters on the balcony. Sunday is also going to be such a beautiful, sunny day, so I’ll be using that time for that, too. And I’ll be enjoying some homemade banana cake with it. :)

Crochet chart / knitting chart: Difficult to learn?

Yes, I felt the same way. Herbstblatt made it easy for me because the rows are also included there. That made it easy to compare.

Generally, I prefer working in rows, but for complicated patterns, having an additional crochet chart is very helpful.

When knitting, I also prefer to work in rows. However, some patterns are best explained using a knitting chart. I invent my own, but it is very easy to understand.

September Projects: Have Fun, Everyone.

Claudia, that’s so great that you also have a man who’s so understanding about handicrafts. :)
By the way, your fir trees look really pretty. That’s going to be a great calendar. That would be too fiddly for me. I don’t really like crocheting small things that much.

The yarn for the scarf is hand-dyed; I got it from a swap site and I’m absolutely thrilled with it. It has all of my friend’s favorite colors in it. I’m already excited to see her face when she gets the scarf. I’m thinking of leaving it open and only sewing it together after I give it to her. Then she can choose for herself whether she wants a scarf or an infinity scarf combo. We’ll see...

Where do you buy yarn?

When buying yarn, I look for natural fibers and make sure no sheep are mistreated. Unfortunately, that’s often the case with cheap yarn.

One of my favorites is the yarn from Finkhof (de), which feels really nice. Otherwise, I like to order yarn from Drops. They have a wide selection, and I’ve always been satisfied so far.

I usually order online. When I’m in the Ravensburg area, Finkhof has a stand at the markets and you can buy directly from them.

I have plenty of yarn in stock, and I love it. :) I took a nine-month break from buying yarn to free up some space in my closets. Now I’ve restocked and am enjoying the wide selection.

Hihi... Marion, that’s such a funny way to put it. Yes, you’re a super secret agent and a test knitter of the very finest kind. :-)

I’ll just tell you this much: it’s all about the color event. I’m totally in love with my project, too—especially since these are absolutely my colors this time. Just let yourself be surprised—you’ll get to see it on October 4.

Today I’m going to keep knitting the socks and write up some patterns that are still waiting to be finished.

I’m going to unravel the doorstopper I started because I don’t like how it’s turning out. After the socks, it’ll be time for the sleeping bag for the doll(s). I’m still figuring out how to crochet the pattern. Like 90% of my designs, it’ll probably come together as I go. I always find that especially exciting. :)

Have a fantastic day, everyone, and enjoy your crafting!

Warm regards, Monika

September Projects: Have Fun, Everyone.

Claudia, you and your scarf look wonderful! It really suits you.
I’ll show you photos of the wobbly stones soon.

I’ve already snapped up something on the swap page again and will be getting two Bobbel cakes. I’m really excited because this will be my first time working with them. I’m not exactly sure what I’ll make with them yet.

Right now, I’ve almost finished the scarf—or rather, the loop—for my friend. I just need to knit it together and weave in the ends. Here’s what it looks like now:

I also picked up a pattern I’d bought a long time ago and, just for fun, knitted myself a loop scarf out of some leftover cotton yarn I didn’t really like. For that, I always used two strands in two different colors. That made the loop nice and thick—and colorful, too. Here’s what it looks like:

Yesterday I also started knitting socks for Linja, and I’m currently playing around with the pattern a bit. Here’s what the first sock looks like so far. Maybe I’ll be able to finish it by Monday.

September Projects: Have Fun, Everyone.

Oh Claudia, Lake Constance is truly enchanting. We lived there for several years, and our children and grandchildren still live there. So we get to enjoy it again and again whenever we visit.

The Waldviertel region is simply fantastic! What caught my eye there were the “wobbly stones” — that’s what they’re called. Large, rounded boulders that somehow remind me of the elf stones in Iceland. That really fascinated us, and it certainly won’t be our last visit there. Such a beautiful landscape. I won’t be able to show you any photos until later — they’re on my husband’s memory card.

We drove back home today because the weather is supposed to get pretty wet and stormy starting tomorrow. So I was able to almost finish knitting the scarf for my friend this evening. This is what it looked like this afternoon. I’ll show you the final result in the next few days.
