Forum game: Let’s decorate a house with handmade crafts :)

I just had an idea. We all love crafts, and everyone creates them in their own unique way.
How about we use them to decorate a house?

No matter what you make or what materials you use—it could be anything from handmade items to embroidery, knitting, crocheting, or whatever else you can think of—

we can work together to beautifully decorate a house.

Let your imagination run wild. I’m excited to see what we’ll come up with here.

Feel free to upload photos, but please only your own! That’s the only way to avoid copyright infringement.

Oh, how pretty—you’ve already set up such lovely things. Awesome! :)

Door hangers as “guards” are a must, too. They show whether you’re allowed into the room or not. Since the house has several rooms, I’m contributing two different ones right away.



Now let’s head to the bathroom: You absolutely have to have a cotton dispenser this cute:

How about something spooky? After all, it’s October—Halloween month. Here’s a little something you can hang just about anywhere...

A mug warmer is especially nice this time of year.

A glass covered in crochet – you can light a tea light inside it. Or use it as a flower vase.

There’s still sooo much to decorate. I’m sure you’ve made some really great things. You can show them here. Pretty items made of concrete and clay would be interesting too...

And for the garden by the house, there’s also a homemade insect hotel. It’s not only decorative but also very useful.

Wow, the house is getting prettier and prettier. There’s still so much more…

The wreath featuring the fairy tale “The Star Money” is perfect for the kids’ bedroom door.

It’s not exactly a decoration, but it’s an absolute must for our breakfast. Here are our homemade rolls. There’s enough for everyone. :-)

A cat bed made of warm sheep’s wool is a must-have, too. The kitties want a cozy spot as well :)

Who’s made their own dog and cat toys? We absolutely have to add those to the house.

Here are a few gnomes with a house… there’s plenty of room for all sorts of knickknacks.

A customer wrote to me saying she crocheted a balloon cover for her dog, and he’s going crazy playing with it. So I’ll contribute my ball to the mix




But I’m not sure if it can withstand cat claws......

Then I’ll contribute the colorful little mice so the cats have something to play with!

I’m still in the mood for spooky decorations… so I’m contributing my ghosts and a (red…) lantern—it won’t be long until Halloween.

Great! It’s going to be really cozy here.

There’s still something missing… a cuddly teddy bear. They’re an absolute must for me.
Here’s one I made myself.

This would definitely fit in a room or the hallway, too.

There are still so many things missing here—for example, your handmade animals, egg cozies, placemats, flowers, even cakes or cookies, etc.

I’ll contribute a granny-style placemat.

Klemmi, the window gnome, helps us keep the windows open when there’s a draft. 

In our house there are 2 house cats—Miezi and Mauzi. So of course we need 2 cat beds, too. Everyone needs their own little kingdom. That’s why Mauzi has his own warm, soft, and thick felted cat bed.



Besides the 2 cats, 2 children also live in the house: little Lisa (6 years old) and big brother Paul (9 years old). They both like playing together, especially with the Ludo game that Mom crocheted herself. Together with Mom, they also baked the game pieces for the game themselves in the oven. That was really fun. The game can also be rolled up nicely and put in a backpack when you go to Grandma’s.



And when they play, Lisa and Paul like sitting on the floor best, on the round colorful rug:



And when they get cold, they get themselves a blanket. Lisa wants the colorful one with lots of little bobbles. It’s so beautifully colorful and her favorite blanket.



Paul would rather have the really fluffy one. Grandma knitted it for him when he was still a baby. It’s very soft and smells like him, because it’s his. Lisa is only allowed to have it sometimes, when he lets her. Then they both cuddle under it and play hide-and-seek from their mother, who is calling them to dinner.



Sometimes Lisa and Paul argue, too. That happens with siblings when one of them can’t count properly yet and the other thinks they cheated at Ludo. Then they quarrel and each goes to their room. Lisa prefers to play with her dolls then. Mom crocheted the clothes for her dolls, too. Her friends are always very jealous that she has such pretty doll clothes.

Grandpa built her really wonderful doll beds for Christmas. And Grandma sewed the bedding for them. Lisa even got to choose the fabrics from Grandma’s stash. Oh, there were such pretty ones, and she just couldn’t decide. But she actually always likes rose and pink best.






Lisa and Paul then play by themselves for a little while, but soon they’re sitting together again and laughing with each other.

A happy family, right? And they live in a beautiful house that we all furnished together. Maybe something is still missing?

Great, now we have a window gnome in the house. :) It looks fantastic.

The dining room table could still be generously set… I’ll start with a few egg cozies.



We’re also missing doorstops for the doors. Who can contribute some?
