Have you already started your handmade projects for the Christmas season? Maybe you’re already crafting an Advent calendar?
And should your Advent calendar be filled with more than just sweets?
You can make really lovely things for the Advent calendar from leftover yarn. Here are a few suggestions:

How about these cute finger puppets?

Santa Claus, Rudolf and Frosty the Snowman fit wonderfully into the Christmas season and can fill 3 little doors right away. They are crocheted in no time from just a few leftover yarn scraps and make the long wait until Christmas much more fun for children with cheerful Advent stories.
Here’s the crochet pattern: Finger Puppets Snowman, Reindeer and Santa Claus.

Polar Bear Björn is a cute little keychain or bag charm. With his colorful scarf, he is perfectly equipped for the cold season.
You can find the crochet pattern here: Keychain Polar Bear Björn.

Bookworms are sure to enjoy an original bookmark. The “Frog Prince” bookmark is easy to crochet, even for beginners, and is especially delightful for fans of fairy tales and legends.
You can download the crochet pattern here: Frog Prince Bookmark

This cute sweater with a side button placket for dolls (45–50 cm tall) can be knitted from leftover yarn. It is knitted top-down with raglan shaping and is easy to recreate if you have some knitting experience.

A gift that will be happily received by any doll mummy, and not just at Christmas.

Of course, the sweater also fits teddy bears of a similar size.

With this little bag, toddlers can help with the shopping. It’s also perfect for a play store, ideally filled with lemons and carrots. Of course, the pattern includes all the pieces shown here.

Good and easy to crochet from leftover yarn. The bag also looks very nice with stripes.

I design the cute little critters in my “Restefresserchen” series especially for leftover yarn. Sometimes they’re really simple, sometimes you’ll learn a great new technique, and they always bring a big smile when you give them as gifts :-)
Warmest regards from your Steffi

Crochet Pattern for a Balloon Cover

Leftover cotton yarn is perfect for this. Individual granny squares are crocheted and then sewn together at the end. The ball is ready to use in no time, both indoors and in the garden.

These ornaments don’t require much yarn. Crocheted in many colors, they decorate the tree, a window, or a few branches in a vase.

Basic knowledge of chain stitches and single crochet is required here.

With just a few grams of yarn and a suitable crochet hook, you can make enchanting doll clothes yourself. The doll moms will be delighted, because then they have a bigger selection when playing with their dolls. And a little dress like this always makes a lovely birthday gift for your daughter’s best friend. Here are my suggestions. For more sample images, information, and the pattern, just click on the heading.

I hope you have lots of fun using up your leftovers. Yours, Ina

And finally, something for the knitting fans:
Knitting pattern: ball gown, leftover yarn is enough here, too.

Need a quick gift for a newborn?
Then these Easy Baby Booties are perfect! The crochet pattern shows you step by step how to crochet these adorable booties in just one evening.

Each pair weighs only about 35 g—so you’ll need very little yarn, or even just scraps, plus a size 3 crochet hook.

These cute striped angels are quick to crochet—and often given away even faster :-)

With just a little cotton yarn in matching colors (e.g., Catania or similar) and a size 2.5 crochet hook, you can quickly crochet an entire village of angels ♥

These stick rattles are perfect for leftover yarn in all kinds of colors. They make a wonderful gift for a new baby, a little gift to bring to a baby shower, or just something you can make in between projects—then you’ll have something in reserve.

Here are the patterns:

If you’re still looking for Christmas gifts for the little ones and want to use up leftover yarn in various colors for them, this pattern for a fruit basket with a total of 10 different kinds of fruit is a great choice. It looks especially lovely when a wide range of shades are combined—after all, nature is no different.

Fruit basket for the play shop

For all the patterns, I used a cotton yarn with a yardage of 125 m/50 g and crocheted with a size 3 crochet hook. For more information, take a look at the individual patterns.

And now—have fun crocheting!
