In fall and winter, nothing beats felted house slippers!
You can take my word for it, because I’ve been making them for my family and friends for many years. Everyone loves them, because there’s nothing cozier than coming home after a long day and slipping into your felted slippers.
You can make them in all sizes, styles, and favorite colors. Felt is breathable and temperature-regulating. That means feet are always kept reliably warm without overheating. Excess warmth is simply released outward through the fibers. They adapt to every foot, so nothing pinches—and the thick felt cushions your step. Felt also doesn’t absorb odors; if needed, you could simply put them outside to air out for a while.
If you feel like making them yourself, just click on the headings. They will take you to more sample pictures, further information, and the pattern. In the pattern, I explain everything in detail: how to knit them, felt them, shape them, and add “anti-slip” to them. I hope you enjoy making them and always have warm feet.
Warm regards from Ina
Felted shoes with a roll collar
-> Here we knit the felted shoe and put it in the washing machine for felting. Separately, we knit a roll collar in matching colors, which is then sewn onto the shoe.
Children love colorful shoes ...
The girls like them in pink, dusty rose, or hot pink ...
And the gentlemen’s preferred colors are anthracite or gray ...
One-Step felted booties
-> Here the shoe and the collar are knitted in one piece, then they go into the washing machine for felting. If you like, you can sew on a little eye-catcher.
These belong to my daughter-in-law ... she loves gray and pink, so there you go—I was happy to fulfill her wish:
And for the kids, I prefer light green with gray; girls and boys can both wear that:
Neon blue combined with light green is lovely too. For small sizes, leftover yarn is enough:
Felted moccasins
-> This is the version for spring, summer, and fall. Just a bit lower than the felted boots and in a moccasin shape. The shoe is knitted, then we crochet 2 more rounds, and the washing machine takes care of the felting.
With the moccasin shape, the felted shoe doesn’t look so shapeless, but has a more defined shoe shape.
They also look great in bright yellow. And you only need a little yarn. For children’s sizes, the shoe sole is coated with latex so they won’t slip. Children grow quickly, so leather soles aren’t really worth it yet. For adult shoes, though, I would prefer leather soles. You can buy them ready-made or DIY them ... if you’re interested, just browse through
