Even dolls need to be fed sometimes. For toddlers, this crocheted food set is just the thing as a starter kit for the doll kitchen. It includes pasta, toast, a fried egg, butter, and vegetables. Everything can be freely combined.

All pieces are very easy to crochet; basic crochet skills are required.

A great beginner project is this pretty round collar, which also makes a nice gift. One leftover skein is enough for it. The pattern is written optimally for beginners. Basic skills are required, however.

Christina, that bookmark looks great!

I’m already working on a new project. It’s going to be a sweater for Linja, this time in blue and white. I’m currently doing the gauge swatch. I already have a rough draft; everything else will come together as I knit. Meanwhile, my shawl is growing steadily.

Coronavirus June 2020: How are you coping with it right now?

Claudia, I wish your sister all the best, too.

We were in Austria yesterday visiting friends and really enjoyed it. There’s no mask mandate there, and sitting in the beer garden—and especially shopping—is such a joy! It’s sooo relaxing! It really felt like a vacation. Since we’re only 30 km from Austria, I’m already thinking about driving there to shop and fill up on gas. Otherwise, I just go to the weekly market and have my organic grocer deliver to me.

Animals and Amigurumi: Cute July Highlights 2020

A little bear as a door guard? Yes, it’s a thing. Here’s one that’s especially popular with kids. No more need for a key to clearly signal that no one is allowed in.

There’s also a door-guard owl that does its job just as reliably. It’s also very practical for working from home, by the way. It’s a sweet way to show that Mom or Dad is working right now.

Both door guards are very easy to crochet using leftover yarn. Everything is explained clearly.

Weekend Plans: The weekend is here :-)

Tomorrow we’re driving to visit friends in Austria—it’s been a while—and we’re really looking forward to it. They have a gorgeous garden, which we’ll of course explore thoroughly and take plenty of photos of. Knitting is also on the agenda again—on Sunday in our garden.

Ruth, you did a great job with that suit. I can well imagine that it wasn’t that easy. The result is truly impressive. I also think the embroidery is beautiful! It’s definitely worth sticking with it.

I’m going to keep knitting my shawl now. The last few skeins are heading out tomorrow. I probably won’t be using as much yarn this month as I have been. That’s because the shawl will only weigh 200 g when it’s finished. And I’ll have to knit a looooot of stitches for that.

I’m currently working on a simple recipe for coconut yogurt and I’m already well on my way. It tastes really delicious.

Stitch markers

I use a small piece of cotton thread and make a loop out of it. That works best for me. The plastic stitch markers kind of get in the way when I’m knitting. For crochet projects, though, they’re easy to clip onto wherever you want to mark something.

Marion, your sweater looks absolutely fantastic! I really like it. Both the colors and the lovely lace pattern.

The summer outfit for my baby Sternchen was finished today too. I might crochet a few little hearts as appliqués. But those will be finished today as well. This is what Sternchen looks like in it now (Marion, you can already look forward to test knitting it).

June was great—I finally got to see my two granddaughters and the kids again. That was really nice.

As for my crafts, I’m wrapping up June with a new baby doll set. I’m currently knitting the headband; once that’s done, it’ll be finished just in time for the end of the month.

July Projects and June Projects 2020: The Crazypatterns Crafting Group

Claudia, you’re so multi-talented and always make amazing things, just like now. I always admire the things I don’t do myself or don’t like to do. That goes for Tunisian crochet and working with concrete, too.

Yes, I really appreciate getting to see my grandchildren and kids again. Of course, that’s become especially clear to me now. We live about 330 km apart, so we don’t see each other that often anyway. We’re planning to meet again in the second half of September.

Sandra, you have quite a large selection of sponges there—they all look very cute. Is Anton getting them all, or are you giving some away?

I’m almost done with the baby doll set—I just need to finish one leg of the pants and, of course, do the tedious task of weaving in the ends. My shawl is coming along nicely on the side.

I wish you all a great start to the week.

Diamond painting

Thanks, Andrea! That sounds really interesting. It’s quite a labor of love. I admire you for your patience.

I used to do paint-by-numbers a lot, as well as large and small embroidery pictures. As a child, I once had a pegboard set with little stones that were square or triangular. You could use them to put pictures together, too. I loved it and, with a lot of patience, kept putting together new pictures again and again.

At the moment, I prefer to stick to crocheting or knitting. But who knows ... you should never say never.

In any case, your pictures turned out great.

Embroidery from My Childhood

I found my very first knitting project—a doll’s scarf. It’s almost 60 years old now and keeps my teddy bear warm.

I also made a little craft pouch like Akela’s back in school. It was prettily embroidered with my name. But unfortunately, it went missing at some point. Such a shame. Back then, it was the kind of fabric that was perfect for cross-stitch, and I still remember exactly what it looked like.
