June has now begun, and I’ve actually crocheted four new nests in the last four days. They’re drying now after being washed and will be shipped out next week.

I’ve already packed a bag with yarn and a crochet hook for my vacation. I’ll be crocheting a few more nests while I’m there. It’s kind of addictive. ;-)

Monika, you’ve been crocheting away again. Your nests turned out beautifully.

My sweater is slowly coming along, too.

My daughter is having a baby this fall. So my plan is to embroider a sweater and maybe sew a pair of pants to go with it. That’s the plan, anyway. We’ll see......
I’m already knitting the baby blanket out of alpaca wool—it’s coming along nicely.....

@Wollefaden Will it be a summer sweater? It seems to be a very thin yarn and an airy lace pattern

We were invited by friends to their garden last weekend, and for a change I gave something other than a knitted gift. We have more than enough shrubs in the garden, and I always keep a large collection of bottles in all sorts of sizes on hand

Petra, that’s such a unique and cute idea with the bottle. :)
Marion, I already love your sweater—the color combo too—but especially the pattern.
bergli, there are so many cute ideas for babies. You’ll come up with plenty more.

I’m already working on the armholes for my friend’s sweater, so it’ll be done soon.

Today I started designing a summer outfit for my little star (baby doll). It includes a sweater that doesn’t need any buttons at all, and a matching pair of pants. As always with me, the finer details will come together as I knit. I’m already looking forward to the result. Marion, you can look forward to it too. ;-)

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Petra, yes, it’s going to be a summer sweater. I’m still deciding on the style—whether to make it with or without sleeves. The yarn isn’t that thin at all; it has a length of 125 m, but the pattern makes it nice and airy.

Monika, I’m really curious to see what you’re hatching up next. 😉

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone—with this weather ☔, it’s perfect for knitting or crocheting.

Since I can’t continue crocheting my table runner due to a lack of yarn, I’ve moved on to my Halloween decorations. The spider legs arrived yesterday. 😂.

The yarn should probably arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, I used up some leftover yarn and crocheted Fidi. Fidi is a bat from Kika. 😀

Let’s see what I do with the rest of the yarn.

Your bat looks really funny. The wings look interesting and have me curious. No pattern this time?

Hi Petra. That was a pattern from here that I modified a bit. The wings, though, are pretty much the original. I’ll send you the link to the pattern via private message.

Sandra, that bat is so cute! :) That’s something completely different.

I’ve now finished the summer sweater for my girlfriend using bouclé yarn and will send it off tomorrow. It’s basically the counterpart to my red one. Here’s what it looks like:

And since I don’t like working on just one project at a time, I’ve started a shawl for myself using very soft sock yarn. As for the doll’s sweater, I’m still waiting for the right needle, which I hope will arrive in the mail tomorrow.

I always love getting a head start on gifts. I’ve already finished the next Christmas gift for a friend:

Today was my first time working with sponge yarn. It’s so much fun. Now on to the next flamingo

Sandra, you’re really early... Halloween and Christmas still feel so far away to me. But what you’ve created is really beautiful.

I’ve managed to finish quite a few things over the last few days, like this short-sleeved sweater crocheted from a yarn cake. I just love the colors.

I also crocheted this plant basket out of fabric yarn.

We had some tabletop panels cut for one of our sideboards and waxed them; we also sanded down the dining table and re-oiled it.

Now, for the first time in a long while, I’m trying my hand at Tunisian crochet again—it feels totally unfamiliar.

Working hard! Claudia, you make amazing things. The colors of your sweater are awesome!

Sandra, without the description, I would’ve thought your flamingo was a ballet dancer. ;-)
I haven’t worked with sponge yarn yet, but maybe I’ll give it a try someday—who knows.

I do prefer soft, cozy yarn. I’ve almost finished the summer sweater for my little star. Next up are the matching pants. Here’s what the sweater looks like now:

And here’s the shawl I’ve started. It’s nice and soft and fluffy, too.

What amazing things you’ve created again—it’s incredible.
At Monika, the stitches just seem to fly off the needle—it’s wonderful what you’ve made in record time.
The flamingo made from sponge yarn looks great. I haven’t tried working with that yarn yet either.
Fun-Design, the colors of your yarn cake are gorgeous. I especially like this kind of color combination; unfortunately, we don’t have such nice ones here.
I’m still working on using up my leftover yarn (a colorful striped blanket, trying out Petra-Perle’s granny squares...). I don’t have any pictures right now.
So keep crafting, everyone, and I wish you all a pleasant week.

Best regards, Andrea

The flamingo is beautiful. I really like these dish sponges because they’re sustainable, colorful, and easy to care for. And crocheting with sponge yarn is really fun—it doesn’t scratch while you’re crocheting, either. Maybe if you were crocheting a large piece. But these sponges are done in no time.

I’m currently working on four projects at once (which I don’t really like, but this time I have no choice): my embroidery, a scarf for fall, and a pillowcase (at a customer’s request). I also made a bracelet for my granddaughter; I’m still writing up the pattern for it.

I still need to order the fabric, then I’ll get started on sewing the pants.

Sandra, you’re really working at a breakneck pace with that crochet hook. ;-)

I’m so excited that we’re finally heading out on our trip tomorrow. My two grandchildren and their families are really looking forward to seeing us, too. Finally, we’ll get to cuddle again. The last time I saw the younger one, she was 4 months old; now she’s 13 months.

I’m also looking forward to the camping trip and Lake Constance now. It’s supposed to rain, but the weather will clear up again by the weekend. We’ll enjoy that. And of course, I’ll have plenty of time there to crochet and knit. I’ll be working on some nests again, too.

@Claudia, your sweater turned out beautifully. I also really like your little basket.

@Sandra, your dishcloths are great. They really make me want to get started—I still have some yarn lying around in my closet. And the penguin is really cute.

@Monika, your sweater is in such girly colors. I’m looking forward to seeing the whole outfit. I wish you a great vacation and a wonderful time with your grandchildren. It’s been a long time since we last saw each other.

I’ve been felting again. It was supposed to be a big basket. It turned out to be a small one. The height is okay, but the next one definitely has to be wider.

Dear all, thank you for your good wishes. We’re currently enjoying a camping vacation in the Allgäu and were at the market in Wangen this morning. Tomorrow morning we’re heading to Ravensburg to visit the grandkids. I’m really looking forward to it!

Sandra, the penguin washcloth is super cute. Anton will definitely like it.

Petra, your little basket looks great with those summer colors. I’ve also been crocheting little nests again in my spare time. It’s a great way to use up leftover yarn. The doll outfit will actually be for baby girl dolls. In different colors, it would be really cute for boys too. I’m currently knitting the pants, but I’ll finish them at home next week. I need the doll as a model, but I don’t have her with me.

Ta-da! The bracelet for my granddaughter and the pillowcase (a little monkey) are finished, and the patterns are written! Now I’m only working on two projects at the same time: the embroidery and the shawl. But I have to say, the embroidery is taking forever. Right now, I really don’t feel like working on it.

The spiral socks look really interesting.

I’ve finished another sponge project:

Wow, I didn’t check in here for a few days, and already there’s so much new stuff to see. You’ve all done a great job.

I’m back home today from our camping trip. We finally got to visit our grandkids. The little one, now 13 months old, has changed so much. The last time I saw her, she was 4 months old. The older one is now 4 years old and loves having stories read to her. It was definitely a wonderful week, during which I was rarely online. Last week, I managed to finish 5 nests for wild animals almost on the side. I’ve completely used up all the leftover yarn I’d packed for that. I’ll take a photo tomorrow. I might even crochet a sixth nest.

Now I’m definitely going to keep knitting summer clothes for my little one. The pants are still missing.

So, I’ve finished the next washcloth. Since I suddenly ran out of yarn, the elephant turned out a bit more colorful

And here’s a photo to illustrate my fuzz problem—and that was just 2 × 6 single crochet stitches

You’ve all been busy crafting again.

I’m working on my second spiral sock.

Yesterday we picked a good 1.5 kg of wild cherries.
I froze some of them...
You can imagine what my hands looked like after picking and pitting them.

Hi, I’m checking in again.

My goodness, you’ve all been so busy again and have made such beautiful things.

I haven’t been able to knit much lately. The cherries are ripe early, and there’s always something that needs doing around the house. We painted the windows—that takes a few days.

I really felt that in my wrists. My osteoarthritis didn’t like that very much, so I took a break.
My sweater is coming along again, but just a little slower. I hope I’ll finish it this month. The back is done, and on the front I’m almost at the neckline now.
I can’t wait to wear it.

Marion, you’ve been so busy! It doesn’t always have to be (just) crafts, after all. It sure looks like you’ll be able to show us your sweater soon, doesn’t it?

Sandra, you’re really going into mass production with your sponges. Each one is prettier than the last. The owl is so cute.

I crocheted the 6th nest yesterday.

And I’ve made a bit of progress on my shawl, too. I’ll start on the doll’s pants tomorrow. It’s sooo nice to finally be knitting again!

Your projects are sooo beautiful and sooo diverse... I love it.

Monika, I’m glad you were able to enjoy some time with your family—right now, you really realize how important that is.

My Tunisian crochet project is taking forever; I had to rip out quite a bit because I’d overlooked a mistake.
I feel like I’m only making progress at a snail’s pace.

Over the last few days, I’ve been working with concrete again; I still had some cement and sand left over from last year and wanted to use them to make insect watering stations.

When I got to the last bit of cement, I ran out of sand, so I used some colorful decorative sand instead—I wonder if it’ll hold? I’m curious to see.
It certainly looks interesting, though.

Claudia, you’re so multi-talented and always make amazing things, just like now. I always admire the things I don’t do myself or don’t like to do. That goes for Tunisian crochet and working with concrete, too.

Yes, I really appreciate getting to see my grandchildren and kids again. Of course, that’s become especially clear to me now. We live about 330 km apart, so we don’t see each other that often anyway. We’re planning to meet again in the second half of September.

Sandra, you have quite a large selection of sponges there—they all look very cute. Is Anton getting them all, or are you giving some away?

I’m almost done with the baby doll set—I just need to finish one leg of the pants and, of course, do the tedious task of weaving in the ends. My shawl is coming along nicely on the side.

I wish you all a great start to the week.

Marion, your sweater looks absolutely fantastic! I really like it. Both the colors and the lovely lace pattern.

The summer outfit for my baby Sternchen was finished today too. I might crochet a few little hearts as appliqués. But those will be finished today as well. This is what Sternchen looks like in it now (Marion, you can already look forward to test knitting it).

Sandra, you’re totally obsessed with sponge yarn. All your pieces are beautiful.
I know the feeling—two years ago, I also crocheted a lot of pieces. I still have some leftover yarn and will definitely keep crocheting and knitting.

My first project for July is finished.

I’ve been crafting again. My neighbor has so much lavender in her garden that she let me cut some for myself. Now I’ve rolled up some lavender bunches, which I’ll put in my closets with my yarn.

It smells wonderful and keeps the moths away.

I have so much lovely lavender too. I could make that as well.

You’ve all been so hard at work again! The idea with the lavender wands is really original. But won’t the flowers crumble off over time? I’ve really only ever seen lavender pillows and sachets.

I’ve been sewing something again in my spare time. My grandson asked for a skydiver’s suit with a hat for his teddy bear.

It wasn’t that easy, because the teddy has a pretty chubby and stocky build. I had to design the sewing pattern myself, and I’m not very experienced at that. Now I’m hoping that everything will fit the teddy. We’ll try it on this weekend!
Other than that, I’ve been working on my embroidered picture. It’s quite a test of patience because progress is pretty slow. Often I don’t feel like working on it at all and would rather put it aside. But I know that if I do, it’ll become a never-ending UFO. No, I’m sticking with it!
Here’s what it looks like now:

Ruth, your outfit for the teddy bear looks great.
The embroidery picture is getting prettier and prettier, even if it’s only progressing slowly
.

I cut the pattern for the lavender wands out of a magazine years ago. Since I’ve now gotten the lavender, I looked for the pattern. I also found videos online that explain it really well.
The lavender is in the middle, the stems are placed around it, and the ribbon is woven in tightly. I don’t think anything will fall out.

I’ll just wait and see; I’ll know next year.

Ruth, you did a great job with that suit. I can well imagine that it wasn’t that easy. The result is truly impressive. I also think the embroidery is beautiful! It’s definitely worth sticking with it.

I’m going to keep knitting my shawl now. The last few skeins are heading out tomorrow. I probably won’t be using as much yarn this month as I have been. That’s because the shawl will only weigh 200 g when it’s finished. And I’ll have to knit a looooot of stitches for that.

I’m currently working on a simple recipe for coconut yogurt and I’m already well on my way. It tastes really delicious.

Oh, how cute, Marion! That cat looks so adorable. :)

I’ve started a new project—a sweater for Linja. This marks the start of my Christmas gift-making.

And my shawl is also growing steadily. For some reason, I always need to have at least two projects going at once.

Now that I’ve got a few days of office work behind me, it’s finally time to write the pattern for the baby doll set. It’s too hot for me to sit outside this afternoon anyway, so this works out perfectly.

Ruth: That suit really suits Reddy… I also hope Teddy made it through the jump okay.

Marion: The cat really turned out great.

Monika: I’m curious to see how the sweater for Linja looks when it’s finished.
Your shawl already looks great.

I haven’t had much time to write these past few days… but I’ve been creative.
I’ve completely used up my sponge yarn.

And then I’m currently planning Anton’s birthday… yes, he’ll be 7 in September… But I’m always early with a lot of things. 😂

It’s going to be a firefighter-themed birthday… Anton loves Fireman Sam.

Since the pandemic started, he’s been allowed to watch TV every now and then…

As soon as the food or tea starts steaming, he has to put out the fire. That means he runs to the living room drawer, grabs a flashlight (radio), radios Fireman Sam: “Fireman Sam, come here, there’s a fire, I have to put it out,” then he runs over to the food and pretends to put out the fire 😂😂

And that’s why:

I crocheted him without a pattern, just based on a real-life model...

Oh man, I’m so proud.

Next up is a radio set... so that poor flashlight doesn’t always have to take the hit.

Great, Sandra! With your talent, I’m sure there will be more firefighter gear to come. How about a helmet? When my grandson was going through his firefighter phase, he didn’t want to wear any other hat
😆

Yeah, Ruth, I’ve already thought of that too.... 😀

Let’s see what else comes together... I have so many ideas

Wowww - Sandra!! You’re absolutely amazing! I think the fire extinguisher turned out incredibly well; it looks like a real one. And you even made it without a pattern. Respect! I’ve been saying it for a while now: you have a talent for designing, and maybe one day you’ll become a designer here after all.

Your other crochet pieces look great too. I’m curious to see what the walkie-talkie will look like.
My goodness, Anton will already be 3 in September. I remember exactly how you announced here that he had just been born. It all goes by so fast. I can see that with my two granddaughters too.

The sweater for Linja has grown a bit, and so has the shawl. That was the progress as of yesterday. I’ll take some more photos tonight. I haven’t had that much time for knitting the last few days.

Sandra, your fire extinguisher turned out great.

I’m really curious to see what else you’ll come up with before Anton’s birthday.

I actually wanted to knit a patchwork blanket, buuuut I think it’s going to be a pillow instead, using the old leftover yarn and unraveled yarn from my mother-in-law
I’m curious to see how it turns out in the end

Wow, Bergli, that looks great! It’s definitely going to be a pretty pillow—and very unique. A great idea for using up leftover yarn.

Bergli, that pattern looks really interesting. What’s it called? Or what keywords should I search for on the vastness of the web to find more information? A great idea for using up leftover yarn.

I’m still knitting my blanket. The baby has already arrived—4 weeks early—and it’s a girl. But never mind, the next baby is on the way, and maybe this time it’ll be a boy.

I’m now up to over 1,000 stitches per round, and it’s growing very slowly now.

@WollwunderPetra
Thanks 😊
This is a kind of braided pattern.
Usually, these patterns are the same color “row by row.” Since I have so many small scraps of yarn, I used a different color for each square. That means there are a lot of ends to weave in 🙈—sometimes I knit the ends right in, but I can’t do that for all of them...... 😋

@mowi19
I’m glad you like it 😊

@ Petra
Blue is also great for girls 🙂
Did you know that blue used to be the color for girls and red the color for boys? That only changed when sailor suits became fashionable. (I read that somewhere once.)

My daughters said—when I was knitting a little blue sweater and a little pink sweater (since I don’t know yet if it’s going to be a girl or a boy)—that I was “racist” 😁. Girls can wear blue too, and boys can wear pink 😋

I agree with you. If the baby hadn’t arrived before I finished the blanket, I would have given it away. But I’ll definitely be working on the blanket for a while longer until I finish the last few rounds. So another blanket was given away instead. The mom was definitely happy to receive it. It’s gotten so cold here again, so the baby will definitely put it to good use.

Wow, Petra, that blanket looks amazing. I really love it.
I’m totally cool with the colors, too. My granddaughter (the older one), for example, loves blue. As a baby, she even wore a blue onesie. And these days, there are plenty of men who wear pink shirts or T-shirts, which I think is great.

Now I’ve finally taken some photos to show you of my current projects.

My shawl is almost finished. I want to use up the rest of the yarn, but the skeins are already really small. Here’s what it looks like now:

And here’s what the sweater for Linja looks like. I won’t continue knitting it until the shawl is finished.

Right now, I’m really enjoying baking and am going through my personal baking books. I just found the recipe for crispbread after a long time. It tastes super delicious and is quick to make. I’ve also started baking bread with sourdough starter again. That’s another great thing! It tastes unique, is very easy to digest, and you don’t need yeast. Here are a few photos:

That crispbread looks delicious. With sesame seeds?

I’m looking forward to seeing your shawl when we get to see it finished

Yes, that crispbread has sesame seeds in it. :)

I had an idea this morning since we have so much lavender in the garden.
I just didn’t feel like sewing. So I came up with a simple solution and put it into action right away. The lavender is now packed into tea bags and hanging on the inside of the closet doors.

I’ve also created a thread with photos and instructions on how to do it:

I’ve finished another project.

Unfortunately, the original instructions didn’t match my decor.
I put some thought into it, and that’s how this cool Knut came to be.
He’s now holding my door shut, and he does it perfectly.

I’ve already admired Knut in the gallery. He turned out really cute.

Wow, Marion, I like your Knut, too! :) He looks funny and somehow reminds me of a bouncer—which is exactly what he is. Great idea! What did you stuff him with?

By the way, that’s still on my list—to knit or crochet something that stands in front of the door and keeps it open. I’ll get to it eventually...

By the way, I’m finishing my scarf today. And then I’ll move on to Linja’s sweater.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

I stuffed Knut exactly as Petra described in her pattern. In the legs there are old tights filled with granulate.
I actually had some on hand, and finally I could use it.

So, my “Autumn Leaf” shawl is finally finished. I’ve been working a lot on my embroidery project in the meantime and haven’t gotten much crocheting done. But I hope to finish the embroidery in 1–2 months (!). (I’m not really cut out for projects that take that long. I’d like to tackle more small projects again now.)

Ruth. The shawl looks great.

The radio set for Firefighter Anton is finished.

He can take the microphone out.

Ruth, your shawl looks absolutely fantastic! It was really worth sticking with it.
Sandra, you’re the best with your great ideas for Anton. You did a really great job.

My shawl is now finished too, and I’ve finished the back of the sweater for Linja. Now I’m knitting up the front, and then I’ll do the sleeves and the neckline.

Monika, your shawl is great. The colors will definitely go with lots of shirts.

ruthk, your autumn leaf is truly the essence of fall. The color gradient is fantastic, and the shape is very unique, too.

After a month, I’ve finally finished my blanket and just cast off the last stitches. Now I just need to weave in the ends, and it’s done.

WOW, you’ve made some amazing pieces again.

Ruth, that fall shawl has great colors and looks wonderful.
Sandra , your walkie-talkie for Anton turned out great.
Monika , I really like your shawl too, and the sweater for Linja is turning out beautifully as well. Those are my colors.
Petra , your blanket has gorgeous patterns—all that hard work was really worth it.

I just started working on a doily using filet crochet—it’s going to be a gift.

Thanks, Petra and Marion! :)
Petra, your blanket turned out really pretty, too. I really like it.

I’ve already knitted up the front of my sweater today and joined one shoulder. And then, when I got to the second shoulder, I realized I’d miscounted somewhere. Now I have to rip out the shoulder and unravel all the way down to the neckline. Waaah! ;-) And it wasn’t even that hot today. Tsk, tsk...

Still, I enjoyed spending the whole day outside today.

My knitting project is coming along... I still don’t know if it’ll be a blanket or a pillow...
I could also knit two panels (approx. 1.50 m) and join them, or maybe “just” make a pillow (50x50)... we’ll see.... so far I’ve knitted about 25 cm in height and about 50 cm in width... I have plenty of yarn
