As someone approaching early retirement, I can organize my time however I like. Whenever I feel like it, I get creative—whether with yarn, beads, or paper. I never get bored. I don’t even know where to start.
People often admire my handmade greeting cards and ask me to make them. It helps me unwind, I enjoy doing it, and I can share that joy when I see the recipient’s eyes light up. That’s a great feeling.
Creating something with your own hands is just wonderful. So, let’s get those needles going :-))
First of all, I have to thank all of you for the lovely birthday wishes. I’ve been really busy, and I’ve only just found the time to read them. Thank you so much—I was really happy to receive them.
I had a wonderful time with my loved ones. One of my sons even took some extra vacation time to visit me for a few days. It was lovely.
Now I’m back to my daily routine. I’m going out dancing a lot, and crafts and needlework are still right at the top of my list. I’ll try to check in here more often.
Have a lovely evening, everyone, and stay just the way you are, with all your wonderful crafts. We’re quite a great bunch here on CP.
Warm regards, Andrea :-)
Oh my, dear Ruth, that’s really tough. When I read all this from the others here, I realize I’m actually still doing okay.
Well, in a situation like that, we’d have to move, because we live on the 3rd floor without an elevator.
I’m sending you all a virtual hug from afar and hoping for some relief or improvement. We’re all reaching that age now where it can happen to anyone. But you wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Most of the time, it’s the kind, lovely people who don’t deserve to suffer like this who get hit the hardest. Oh man. I just can’t get over it. I’m truly at a loss for words.
Warm regards
Andrea
Hello dear Inge,
On this special day of yours, my very best wishes—good health is so important—and just have a wonderful day today. Cheers to you :-)
Warm birthday wishes from Andrea
I don’t really like those kinds of kits. You can never be generous with the included yarn because you never know if you’ll have enough. Sure, they always include a little extra, but that worry is always there while you’re crocheting.
I’d rather buy just the pattern and use whatever yarn I think goes well with it and that I like.
When I was asked to crochet this “Püppi Langstrumpf” doll for a coworker, she gave me one of those crochet kits. The yarn was barely enough, and the actual skirt of this doll was actually much too short according to the pattern. That’s no fun at all.
Wow, Inge, you’re both absolutely amazing when it comes to sewing and crafts. Great outfit. I love the lederhosen, especially with the matching plaid shirt.
Like Ina said, bring on Oktoberfest—these two little guys will steal the show from everyone. I can’t get enough of looking at them either. Awesome!
Thank you, Regina.
It was fun—the instructor explained everything really well. My first oil painting.
Claudia, yes, moving is always stressful and a lot of work. I know how it is. But it’s nice when you still find “treasures” like that—all the things you’ve made over the years.
Here’s my photo

Wow, Veronika, those are such great colors. For me, the mountains of yarn just don’t seem to be getting any smaller either. Lots of yarn cakes are still waiting to become sweaters. I’ve got some UFOs, too. There’s also some cotton yarn in the drawer for amigurumi.
But today was Creative Day at the adult education center. We painted a gorgeous fall scene with oil paints. It was so much fun. I’ll try to upload it and then show it to you. It really helped me unwind. Now it just has to dry, and then I’ll find a nice spot for it on the wall.
Best wishes
Andrea
Yes, really, Inge, that looks so moist—it makes you want to take a bite right away. It’s nice to read how you’re all working together in the kitchen.
Lovely evening greetings from me :-)
That’s true—when you do crafts yourself, you strangely find yourself noticing them while watching TV. They often have those granny blankets draped over armchairs or triangular shawls draped over their shoulders. Well, I definitely notice things like that.
And since I also do beadwork, I’m always checking out what kind of earrings or necklaces the actors are wearing. It’s pretty crazy.
Did everything work for you? It did here for us. But I have my doubts about an evacuation plan in an emergency—that’ll be chaos.
Tastes vary. They used to be “in,” so I wore them back then, too. Where I’m from, we called them “Westovers.” I had one in black, with a white blouse underneath—it looked chic—but from today’s perspective, I don’t like them at all.
You don’t always have to follow fashion. I agree with Ina. I need the “full package with sleeves.”
Yes, I have that mini-handbag pattern, too. I usually crochet these bags for my dolls. Since the kids are grown up and have moved out, a crocheted Advent calendar like that isn’t worth it for my husband and me.
I crochet these every now and then as little gifts for my little dancers.
Years ago, I once made an Advent calendar using these diamond-shaped boxes (the pattern was from here, but I don’t remember who it was by). I only used it once.
Your plum cake (as we call it) looks delicious, Inge.
Wow, your Steffi looks really chic. Bring on fall! Great job, Inge.
I’m still crocheting my C2C crochet jacket, but I have to take a break now because we’re going on vacation on Friday, and I can’t take that huge ball of yarn with me.
I’ll check in every now and then. Until then, have a great weekend!
Lots of love from me :-)
Oh, Ina, I’m going to give your idea a try, but I have no idea how it’ll turn out.
According to the pattern, the attachment is crocheted long to attach the legs to it, and it disappears inside the doll. Maybe I shouldn’t crochet so many chain stitches. We’ll see. Thanks for now.
Have a nice evening, everyone :-)
I baked these cinnamon rolls for the first time today. I think the recipe is from Petra. I tried it, and it turned out great. They taste so good.

Here’s what’s left. Half of them have already been eaten. I definitely have to bake some more—then my mom can try some, too.
Thanks for the recipe 😉
Hugs, Andrea
Wow, you’ve all been so busy again. Such great things made from old jeans, and Ina’s lavender sachets… big kudos to everyone else, too.
I’m currently crocheting little things, like these flower dolls, following a video tutorial. Some of the dolls have already been given away. So here are just these two—they’re staying with me

Best regards, Andrea

Christmas is still soooo far away. For now, it’s still time for summer stuff or a little fall decor (pumpkins). Otherwise, I’m continuing to crochet my crochet jacket using the C2C technique, or doing some paper crafts (cards).
Today we had freshly baked apple cake made with batter.

Always delicious.
Thank you, dear Ina.
Yes, I thought of Monika too, with her comments, pictures of her crochet projects, and the dolls and teddy bears. She is still present, and not forgotten, and that is a good thing.
I also read through the whole thread again (I had bookmarked the page, after all). Those were good times. :-)
Mmm, delicious, Ina. Thanks—I’d love a slice with whipped cream. :-)
I stumbled upon this thread again and found even more nostalgic treasures.
I still have two of my children’s books in my collection that I treasure. My parents gave them to me back then.

And this one is from my mom—a bottle opener and corkscrew...

Yes, I baked muffins, oatmeal cookies, and quark rolls again yesterday. Absolutely delicious.
Soon I’ll try the cinnamon rolls (I think they’re from Inge) or the Apple Clouds. I’ll post pictures then, too.
Have a lovely, creative Sunday, everyone—stay healthy!
Hugs from me :-)

Hi everyone,
I baked several things today. I couldn’t find the baking thread.
I made muffins, quark rolls, and tried the oatmeal cookies (recipe from Inge here on the forum). Simply delicious. Thanks for that.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hello everyone,
I crocheted this little doll stroller blanket from leftover yarn using the c2c technique.
Your creations and little dolls are so cute.

I’d like to recreate this jacket.

Finally time to breathe a sigh of relief—everything has aired out. It’s a pleasant 17 degrees outside, and the room temperature is 24 degrees. That makes crafting and DIY fun again. It’s raining right now.
Right now I’m making cards, crocheting little things here and there, and continuing to crochet my jacket (I have this huge ball of yarn for it). The pattern is from here. I’ll have to check again which shop it was from.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone
Stay healthy
Yeah, this heat is really getting to you.
On Sunday there were some hellish thunderstorms and rain showers—we were finally able to air things out, opening all the windows and doors to create a draft. Finally a chance to breathe easy—but it didn’t last long. Everything’s heated up, and there’s not a breath of wind today. Unfortunately, our bedroom faces northeast, so the sun beats down on it early in the morning, and in the afternoon, the sun beats down on the balcony from the other side. You could practically fry eggs out there.
Right now it’s manageable (28 degrees inside, 31 degrees outside)—the fans are running, I’ve got a wet towel around my neck, a cold foot bath, I’m drinking plenty of water, and moving around as little as possible (I can crochet and do crafts from the sofa too *laughs*).
I was actually thinking of asking my parents if we could sleep over at their place—it’s a comfortable 24 degrees in their room, pleasantly cool, and their apartment’s on the ground floor. If this keeps up, we’ll see.
Have a nice evening, everyone—make the best of it, and stay well
To all the winners, my warmest congratulations—great work!
How I’d love a good load of snow right now.
Everything’s sticky: showers, cold foot baths, light meals, jelly dessert, lots to drink...
Hopefully it’ll cool down soon so we can breathe a sigh of relief and air out the place again. Right now, it’s a whopping 31 degrees in the apartment. This isn’t fun anymore.
Great idea. Unfortunately, I read about it too late because I was on vacation.
