The great thing about homemade decorations or functional items is that, for one thing, you can choose the colors to suit your personal taste. And for another, there’s a lot of love that goes into them. That way, even something practical can become a heartfelt gift.

Tapestry crochet also offers so many possibilities for creating wonderful decorations and useful accessories yourself. This crochet technique is very easy, and of course it is explained in detail in the patterns—single crochet stitches are used, and the color not currently in use is crocheted in. This makes the back look nice, too. Here are my suggestions:

A bouquet of flowers creates a festive atmosphere in any room. With a bouquet made of paper, you also don’t have any work to do, because it won’t lose any leaves even after months.


 
These flowers are approx. 25 cm tall, and their blossoms are approx. 8 cm wide.
The flowers are also well suited for beginners and don’t require any special prior knowledge—just a little patience and accurate work.

Here are a few popular toys for children, some of which are decorative and also useful.


The bag that fits perfectly on a Puky, tricycle, or balance bike. It has a double bottom and is crocheted with a sturdy pattern. Recommended for advanced crocheters.

You can crochet this doll food for a toddler’s play kitchen. The following ingredients can be used to put together either a breakfast or a lunch. The pattern includes toast, a fried egg, butter, noodles, and various vegetables.

This ladybug pot holder is a pretty, colorful eye-catcher in the kitchen. It’s very easy to crochet and is sure to bring joy when given as a gift. For me, it’s indispensable in the kitchen and in daily use.

This little pouch for 10 tissues is a pretty decoration and fits in any handbag. It’s very easy and quick to crochet from leftover yarn, and I’ve given it as a gift many times. It’s always been a big hit. You can even hide small gifts inside it.

Here’s some pretty packaging for the large tissue boxes. I’ve given them as gifts many times—always in the recipient’s favorite colors or to match their decor. The tissues are transformed into a pretty decoration that looks great in any room. Easy to crochet and a great way to use up leftover yarn.

These cute little gnomes with their gnome house make a charming decoration and are also something very special as an Advent calendar. The house can be crocheted as a storage basket. You can use up lots of colorful leftover yarn here—to the delight of children of all ages.
