A New Addition to the Family—Rosalie Is Here

Thank you all! :))

Yes, Ruth, you’re right. I really don’t feel like doing that anymore.

Marion, eventually the time will come when Mäxchen gets a little sibling. And then you’ll be happy about it, too.

Sonja, I’d need a lot more hands and time right now, so I guess I’ll just have to be patient. But little by little, there will be quite a few new things coming.

A New Addition to the Family—Rosalie Is Here

Thanks, Marlies. :))

Yes, that’s true—even baby dolls have their own personalities. She just wants to be called Rosalie. Nothing else felt right. And she immediately felt “at home” with me.

By the way, she used to sit on the couch at her previous owner’s house, too, and was dressed in different outfits every now and then.

Summer Fashion 2022: There are some gorgeous designs here.

A colorful cotton raglan dress is quick to knit and fits perfectly for little girls from about age 2. It even grows with them and can later be worn as a tunic.

There’s also a matching look for the doll (50 cm), made from the leftovers. Exactly the same little dress, just smaller.

For the big sister (3–4 years), you can knit this colorful striped skirt. It has an elastic waistband at the top.

There’s a matching look for the doll (45–50 cm) for this one too, plus a sweater and hairband.

Luna is here!

Oh Marlies, your Luna is soooo cute. She looks just like a real baby. The new clothes look great on her.

I’ve also had a few knitting needles break on me—so far, just the Knit Pro ones. I definitely won’t be buying those again.

My Rosalie arrived today. She’s a real beauty—an artist’s doll by Carmen Gonzalez, with an inscription on the back of her head: name and date 9/1997.

Rosalie is about the same size as your Luna. She measures 57 cm from head to heel. For now, I’ve dressed her in clothes from my stash. But there’s plenty more to come. It’s nice that I now have another in-between size. It’s almost as if we got our new baby girls at the same time. :))

I’ve started a new thread for Rosalie where you can see her too—here:

https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/forum/topic/161893/familienzuwachs-rosalie-ist-da

By the way… my husband was just as excited as I was right away. :)

A New Addition to the Family—Rosalie Is Here

As you already know, my heart belongs to dolls and teddy bears. Just a few days ago, I wrote here that I was done. And I was really determined to stick to that. But what can I say… I just couldn’t resist when I saw this sweet little doll in my swap group. She looked at me… and I was completely smitten.

She arrived today and is currently settling into my “baby nursery.”
Rosalie is a full 57 cm tall from head to heel. She’s incredibly beautiful and intricately crafted, as she was designed by the artist Carmen Gonzalez—the date can be found on the back of her head: 9/1997. Rosalie has a soft body—that’s a must for my dolls. And her eyelashes, for example, are very soft, just like a baby’s. You can even see the roof of her mouth.

That’s how Rosalie arrived at my place this morning. I know that lots of doll moms stop by here and will be happy for me.

For now, I’ve dressed her in something from my stash. And I think that little pink dress looks great on her. The name Rosalie just came to me right away.

Now I’m going to dress her up. I especially love that she’s a different size than my previous dolls. She’s right in between Tommi (50 cm) and Paula (60 cm). I’m already excited to see what I’ll come up with for her. I wish I had 10 pairs of hands right now.

Affordable patterns + patterns on SALE / Discounts + value packs: lots of crafts at a low price / great for using up scraps too

You can crochet these cute gnomes together with the gnome house using leftover yarn. This makes a lovely Advent calendar, for example. The gnome house also makes a great storage basket, for example for yarn plus a crochet hook and small items. The storage basket with the gnomes can also be used as a breakfast set. They also make great egg cups or egg cozies. There are lots of ideas for this value set.

All the pieces are easy to make; the more colorful, the better.

These two door guards - owl and little bear - come together here in a value set. They can be crocheted very easily from leftover yarn and have a very useful function. They show exactly whether the room may be entered - or not. In households with small children, they are great for the bathroom and toilet - or also useful in a home office.

By the way.... just a quick note on the topic: this is as big as it gets....

I’ve given in again. A new doll is moving in with me—I just discovered her in my swap group. She’s 60 cm tall, so my Paula won’t be the only one of her size anymore. So my next knitting patterns will be in this size again. After all, she needs some pretty clothes, too.

Now I’m just looking forward to meeting the little one. I just have to figure out how to break the news to my husband… :))

Luna is here!

Oh, I see—I’m exactly in the right place here. :))

Marlies, I know Pimboli too—I have a tiny little one. It’s sooo cute.

Mel, how wonderful that you’ve gotten yourself a baby doll now. You’ll definitely show her to us, won’t you?

Oh, Veronika, if only you knew… as a child, I also much preferred playing with teddy bears, and they ended up in the doll stroller too. My mother wasn’t happy about that at all, because she had given me an expensive Schildkröt baby doll. But it was far too stiff for me.

Only now, with all these lovely soft dolls available, am I making up for lost time as a doll mommy. And yes, the teddy bears have just as important a place with me too. Whenever I say, “That’s enough now…” one of those shaggy little fellows looks at me and says, “I really want to come home with you.” How can I say no to that?? …

Of course, I make clothes for all of them, except for a very few. It’s just so much fun, and designing and (mostly) knitting these things is one of my absolute favorite pastimes. I’ve already got quite a bit planned that I’m going to make.

So of course I never get bored. Our living room has turned into a doll and teddy room with a knitting workshop. I’m really grateful to have such an understanding husband. :))

Luna is here!

Yes, Marlies, it’s a truly wonderful hobby, and I pursue it with lots of love and enthusiasm. I really shouldn’t even start looking… because then I’d definitely be tempted too. The “doll mom” in me is still very much alive.

28 or 32 cm is already pretty small. I’m so curious to see what arrives for you next.

My twins are 35 cm, and they can talk to each other. It’s sooo cute—I could listen to them and watch them for hours. By now I have four little ones like that, and they’re almost fully dressed.

Then there are the bigger ones at 50 and 46 cm—and the very big one, Paula, at 60 cm. I almost forgot—there’s Lena, too. She’s the one with the pretty little dresses.

You see… there’s no room for more. (grin)

Ruth, yes, the little pants naturally have a variation of the mowi heel for the feet. It looks so cute in such a tiny size.

Marlies, how nice to have you back here again. :) I just admired your baby, little Luna. She’s sooo cute!
You know, sometimes you just have to let go when someone or something isn’t good for you, even if they’re your closest relatives. You handled that well with Luna.
As for knitting, I’m much faster at it than I am at crocheting. Knitting doesn’t bother my arms at all, but when I crochet, my joints start to hurt after a while. Everyone just has their own preferences.

Andrea, the edges on the knitted washcloths look just as good with both versions. I tried both and couldn’t really decide. The fact that the edge looks good is also thanks to the pattern.

Marlene, your jacket is really coming along nicely.

I’ve finished the pants for Tommi and already have the next pair on the needles—this time for Sternchen. She’s a few centimeters smaller, and you can really tell the difference in the legs. I’ll post photos in the next few days. I also have a hooded jacket for Juna’s little baby on the needles.

Now I hope you all have a lovely evening with your needlework.

Upcycling: Sustainable April Highlights / Do you have any great upcycling ideas right now?

Ina, using bubble wrap for padding is a great idea! I hadn’t even thought of that yet.

My husband’s headphones—the foam ones—broke. And now he wants me to make him some out of wool, since they’re more comfortable on the ears. That’s how I came up with the idea for these headphone cushions, and I crocheted some for myself right away. All you need is a few small scraps, and they’re done in no time. So why buy plastic when you can make them so cheaply—and much more beautifully—out of cotton or wool?

Wowwww, Ina!! I’m deeply impressed—first by your hard work and the dedication with which you’ve taken up sewing. And second, by the incredibly beautiful results.

I think the shirt looks fantastic on you. You look really youthful in it, and you can definitely be seen wearing it.

Anja, that sounds great. Yes, cats are the best therapists. Someone once told me that they actually have healing powers when they lie on certain parts of your body.
