Are you doing well?

Dear Waltraud, I’d love to visit you at your new shop in spring. I’m already saving up … because my “wool diet” will be over by March at the latest. ;-) I’m really looking forward to it!

We’ll talk on the phone — I’d love that.

Take care and sell your yarn so you can completely redo everything in your new shop. I really hope you can!

Warm regards, Monika

Are you doing well?

I’m doing great, too. I’m almost done with my new projects, which I’m really enjoying. Other than that, I’m busy using up my leftover yarn. ;-)

The sun was shining brightly today, and I already got a taste of spring while out for a walk.

Josefa, I’m glad you’re doing well, too!

Yarn diet until the end of January + UFO week from January 24–31 + Show off your January projects

Yes, Heike, I agree with you. It’s just the most beautiful and harmless addiction in the world. :-)
We’ll stick with it—at least until the end of January. It’s only three more weeks...

Yarn diet until the end of January + UFO week from January 24–31 + Show off your January projects

I’ve been really good so far and haven’t bought any new yarn, even though the temptation was huge. Because my favorite online shop was having a sale... *sniff* and *pat on the back*.

Now I’ve taken photos of my leftover yarn, which I’m going to use up now, at least some of it. I’ve already started. But I won’t reveal what it’ll be until it’s finished.

I’m going to make something beautiful out of these leftover bits of yarn (or at least parts of them):

I’ll use up my stash little by little, since that’ll surely take months. I’ll keep sticking to my “diet” — let’s see how long I can hold out. ;-)

How is your leftover yarn doing?

As soon as my two main projects are finished, I’ll be putting my leftover yarn to use. I already have some pretty good ideas for that.

It’s easy when the leftover yarn is all the same quality and yardage.
It’s harder when the leftover yarn is a hodgepodge of all sorts of different yarns. But there’s a use for that, too...

I’ll check in when everything is ready—with a before photo ... and maybe an after photo as well.

Creative Ways to Use Leftover Yarn

Leftover yarn is perfect for crocheting this cute gnome family. They look adorable in any color. What makes them special is that you can fill them with all sorts of little treasures.

As gift wrapping, they look just as good as they do on the breakfast table as egg cozies.

They are quick and easy to crochet and still leave plenty of room for creativity, for example with the faces. Children big and small will love them.

@ Wollefaden
Wow, you really are busy. After that great sweater, now the next piece. The color combination looks fantastic, by the way, and so does what you've already knitted. I also really love working with slipped stitches.

@ Christiana

What you've started there looks great too. Are those going to be gloves?

I'm still working on my two projects, but I don't have much time for them right now. Since I'm writing patterns for them and don't have the right light in the evenings for the detail photos, it's taking longer than usual. But it'll get there... ;-)

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Best, Monika

How are you all doing?

I also had a very peaceful start to the new year. Luckily, the storm wasn’t as severe here as forecast.

Right now, I’m finishing up two projects—one crocheted and one knitted. This week, I’m setting aside plenty of time for them, and it’s really enjoyable.

I already have some ideas for how to use up my leftover yarn. A bigger project won’t get started until February.

The most important thing is that I’m feeling well. Dear Ida, I hope you get well soon! Make a point of treating yourself to some rest—it’ll definitely do you good.

Take care, everyone!

Best, Monika

A round collar with many uses—for example, as a shoulder warmer. Very practical on cold days with sweaters that have a neckline. The collar can also be worn well as a turtleneck.

Best of all: This shoulder warmer can be finished quickly almost in passing, even by beginners.

You might even get the creative idea to use it as a baby skirt. ;-)

New + exclusive

Here is the pattern for the matching baby jacket to go with the previous pair of pants, which is knitted from the same 6-ply sock yarn and also fits sizes 62 to 80.

The knitting pattern, consisting of knit and purl stitches, is very easy to knit, even for beginners with basic skills. The “purl-side” version shown here was used to match the pants. As you can see, the pattern looks great from both sides.

The best part: The baby jacket is knitted from the bottom up without any seams and can be finished quickly.

I’d also like to join in on the good wishes here.
Above all, I’d like to thank my fellow authors for their support with any questions I had. That was incredibly valuable to me as a newcomer here.

And I’d also like to thank my customers. Today, I was delighted to see that one customer has already made six purchases from me. She was one of the first, which makes me especially happy.

I’m looking forward, together with all of you, to a successful year in which we’ll continue to have a lot of fun with our projects.

Stay healthy—or get healthy! That’s the most important thing.

Warm regards

Yarn diet until the end of January + UFO week from January 24–31 + Show off your January projects

My goodness, Josefa, you’re really hitting the ground running this year and making sure there’s never a dull moment here. :-)

I’d love to join in—I’ve already put myself on a yarn diet anyway. This time, I’ll have no trouble sticking with it until January 31. I’m not sure yet how much of my yarn mountains I’ll be able to work through.

I don’t have any UFOs at the moment, because I’m currently finishing up two projects. Let’s see how things look by the 21st. I’m sure there’ll be something new on the needles by then. I’ve actually got some new ideas for small projects using leftover yarn. So this works out pretty well.

Photos will follow when I’m ready.

Warm regards to everyone from Monika

Warm Winter Clothing

This cozy, warm cardigan made of pure natural fibers (merino wool and alpaca) is just the thing for cold days. It has a figure-hugging fit, looks great, and keeps you snug and warm.

The waffle pattern is easy to knit and has the added benefit of both hugging the body well and being very stretchy. That’s why this cardigan fits sizes 38 through 42.

The cardigan also features practical pockets and is knitted from the bottom up using the raglan method. There are seams only on the sleeves, which are crocheted together at the end.

Difficulty level: medium - some knitting experience is required

Warm Winter Clothing

Children need warm and comfortable clothing. That’s where these leggings come in just right. They also have the advantage of growing with your child for a while, from approx. 1.5 to 3 years.

The leggings can be knitted from any sock yarn with the same yardage. I knitted them from pure natural fiber—merino wool with alpaca content (Drops FLORA).

They are knitted in one piece from top to bottom, so there are no seams. Even beginners will get along well with the pattern.
