Collaborative Christmas Poem for CP

Dear users, dear authors,

what do you think about writing a poem together?

Here’s how I imagine it:
  • Everyone writes one line and copies the poem as it stands so far. That way, it stays in context.
  • Every other line must rhyme with the one before it.
  • The poem should be about Christmas and wool.
  • In the end, we should end up with a coherent poem.

Are you up for it?
I’d be happy to start. You can take it from there.
(Please copy the text below and write your line underneath it.)

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles click softly in the parlor so snug
while a turnip in the cooking pot bubbles and chugs.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming away,
while the youngest munches cookies all day.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and knits a stocking - can that really be!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too
while the housework is left long overdue.

The home is filled with the scent of cookies sweet,
on the sofa my kitty sleeps.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking's nearly complete,
but the yarn is low quality - that's no treat.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unravel it, that keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can get some help
from all the helpful CP authors.

Meanwhile she searches for the Christmas ornaments
"Which colors are in? I'll go google that."

And where are all those lovely crocheted stars?
I have an idea:"I'll make them myself", I'd gladly do that.

In a flash, the yarn is already there.
So radiant in yellow, like the sun's warm glare.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question is an easy one.

Checked Crazypatterns, yippee!
There they are already - in the picture, in the snow

One click - this pattern has to be the one.

I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," I'd love to by far.

In a flash, there is the yarn.
So bright in yellow, like the sun.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question isn't hard.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow

One click—this pattern is the one.
I could shout out loud with joy

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that now.

The socks won't let me go
There it knocks again! Who on earth could that be?

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles clatter softly in the warm room
while in the cooking pot the turnip does loom.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming away,
while the baby of the family munches cookies today.

Josefa looks forward to the tree,
and knits a stocking—can that really be!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while all the housework is left to stew.

The apartment smells of cookies sweet,
on the sofa my little cat’s asleep.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking’s nearly done,
but the yarn is a poor-quality one.

Oh dear, what shall I do with it now?
Unravel it—that keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can get some help, no doubt,
from all the helpful CP authors about.

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles:
"Which colors are in? I’ll google through the options."

And where are all those lovely crochet stars?
I’ve got the idea: "I’ll make them myself"—gladly, by far.

Quick as a wink, the yarn is already there.
So radiant in yellow, like sunshine in the air.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question is not a hard one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow they lay

One click—this pattern has to be mine.
For joy I could shout out loud and shine

But what was that? There’s a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that anymore.

The socks just won’t let me go
There’s another knock! Who is it, though?

Let me in! So it rings out from outside

And afterward she crochets a blanket, too;
the housework gets left behind, it’s true.

The apartment smells of cookies baking,

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking’s nearly done,
but the yarn is cheap—not much fun.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow today

One click—this pattern has to be mine.
I could shout out loud for joy, feeling fine

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that anymore.

The socks won't let me go
There it knocks again! Who could it be, though?

Let me in! So it sounds from outside the house
It's me, after all—St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he's got the big stocking with him
what could be in there? I really can't be that dim!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
Tangerines, nuts, and the wished-for soft wool—I really don't want to let them go.

The wool comes first, you understand.
I hope Santa Claus has that well in hand.

Expectantly, Josefa opens the door
happily grabs the packages and thanks Santa Claus warmly for them once more.

So which one has the wool inside?
Oh man, how excited I am—I can't hide.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles click softly in the warm room
while a turnip is stewing in the pot.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the youngest munches cookies through and through.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and is knitting a stocking—I can hardly believe what I see!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework is left for later to do.

The apartment smells of cookies so sweet,
on the sofa my little cat sleeps in peace.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking is nearly done,
but the yarn is a poor-quality one.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unravel it—I'll stay fit somehow.

Josefa can get some help
from all the helpful CP authors.

Meanwhile she searches for the Christmas baubles
"Which colors are in? I'll go Google that."

And where have all the lovely crochet stars gone?
I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," I'm happy to take that on.

Quick as a flash, there’s the yarn already.
As bright and yellow as the sun.

But where can I get a pattern?

The needles click softly in the cozy room
while in the cooking pot the turnip stews.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the youngest munches cookies right on cue.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and knitting a stocking—hard to believe!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework is left with nothing to do.

The apartment smells of cookies sweet,
my kitten sleeps on the sofa seat.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking's nearly done,
but the yarn is cheap, and not much fun.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unravel it—I'll stay fit somehow.

Josefa can get some help and more
from all the helpful CP authors in store.

Meanwhile she looks for Christmas baubles bright,
"Which colors are in? I'll google that tonight."

And where are all those pretty crochet stars?
I have an idea: "I'll make them myself"—with joy, by far.

Quick as a wink, the yarn is already here.
So radiant in yellow, like sunshine clear.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question is an easy one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow today

One click—this pattern has to be mine.
I could shout out loud for joy divine

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that anymore.

The socks won't let me go
There’s another knock! Who could it be, though?

Let me in! It calls from outside the house
It's me, of course—St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he's brought the big stocking along
what's inside it, I do care, and strong!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
Mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for—I don't want to miss them, no.

The yarn comes first in line.
I hope Santa knows that fine.

Expectantly, Josefa opens the door
joyfully grabs the packages and thanks Santa warmly for them all the more.

Which one has the yarn inside?
Oh man, my suspense I can't hide.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone there.

No yarn at all? That just can't be!
Who swiped it—which woolly imp could it be?

At last I have found it, all sound.
What joy! I'll knit it in the round!

Praise and thanks to the Christ Child dear!
and I'll make myself cozy on the stove bench here.

But Christmas isn't over yet; someone is standing at the door.
After all, it's only a quarter to 4.

and I’ll make myself cozy on the stove bench, mild.

But Christmas isn’t over yet; someone’s standing at the door.
After all, it’s only quarter to four.

Then the smartphone rings too; who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is announcing itself :-)

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles click softly in the warm room
while a turnip is stewing in the pot.

The mulled wine on the stove is already steaming too,
while the littlest one munches on cookies.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and knitting a stocking—I can hardly believe it!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework falls by the wayside.

The apartment smells of cookies,
my kitten is sleeping on the sofa.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking is almost done,
but the yarn is of poor quality.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unraveling it will keep me fit.

Josefa can get help
from all the helpful CP authors.

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles
"Which colors are in? I'll go google that."

And where are all the beautiful crochet stars?
I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," I'd be happy to.

Quick as a flash, the yarn is already there.
So bright in yellow, like the sun.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question isn't hard.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they already are—on the picture in the snow

One click—this pattern has to be the one.
I could shout out loud for joy

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I don't have time for that now.

I can't stop thinking about the socks
There it knocks again! Who could that be?

Let me in! comes the call from outside
It's me, after all—St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he's brought the big stocking with him
what on earth is in there, I really do care!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
after all, I really wouldn't want to miss out on mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for.

The yarn comes first.
I hope Santa Claus knows that.

Full of anticipation, Josefa opens the door
happily reaches for the packages and thanks Santa Claus very warmly for them.

Where is the yarn now?
Oh man, I'm so excited.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone.

No yarn at all? That can't be!
Who swiped it—which woolly little imp?

Finally I've found it.
What a joy! I'll knit it in the round!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll make myself comfortable on the stove bench.

But Christmas isn't over yet; someone is at the door.
After all, it's only a quarter to 4.

Then the smartphone rings too—who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is on the way :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little packages

Josefa can get some help here

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles,

And where are all those lovely crochet stars?
I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," gladly, by far.

Quick as a flash, the yarn is already here.
So bright in yellow, like sunshine clear.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question is not a hard one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow they lay

One click—this pattern has to be the one.
I could shout out loud for joy and fun

Never mind, I don't have time for that anymore.

There it knocks again! Who is it, though?

Oh man, he's brought the big stocking along
what could be in there, I care so strong!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
Mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for—I don't want to miss them, no.

The yarn comes first, no delay.
I hope Santa knows that, I pray.

Full of expectation, Josefa opens the door
gladly grabs the packages and thanks Santa warmly for them once more.

Now where is the yarn inside?
Oh man, how excited am I!

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn must be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone there.

No yarn at all? That can't be right!
Who swiped it—which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it now.

And where are all those lovely crochet stars?
I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," that's my kind of task by far.

Quick as a wink, the yarn is already here.
So radiant in yellow, like sunshine clear.

But where can I find a pattern for this?
The answer to that question is hard to miss.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow they lay

One click—this pattern has to be mine.
For joy, I could shout out loud and shine

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that chore.

The socks just won't let me go
There it knocks again! Who is it, though?

Let me in! comes the sound from outside
It's me, of course—St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he has the big stocking along
what's inside it, I just can't stay calm!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for—I don't want to miss those.

The yarn comes first, that's my plan.
I hope Santa Claus understands, that man.

Full of expectation, Josefa opens the door
joyfully grabs the packages and warmly thanks Santa Claus for them all the more.

Which one has the yarn inside?
Oh man, my excitement I can't hide.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone to spare.

No yarn at all? That just can't be right!
Who swiped it—which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it at last.
What joy! I'll knit it in rounds, holding fast!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll make myself cozy on the stove bench for a while.

But Christmas isn't over yet; someone is standing at the door.
After all, it's only a quarter to 4.

Then the smartphone rings too—who could be on the line?
Surprise: more yarn is announcing its arrival :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little packages.
Where is there still a free little corner for all these advantages?

After a short thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There's still room, you see!

But—oh dear—now I've discovered it too soon:
Someone had already hidden something there in that room.

There lies a little package with a red bow,
Inside is no yarn, because it smells like soap, you know!

Now mischief is sitting right on my back
I'll just let the whole thing "sink in" and unpack

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles click softly in the cozy room
while in the cooking pot, the turnip starts to stew.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the youngest munches cookies through and through.

Josefa looks forward to the tree,
and knits a stocking — I can hardly believe what I see!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework is left with nothing to do.

The apartment smells of cookies so sweet,
my kitten sleeps on the sofa seat.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking’s almost done,
but the yarn is poor quality, which isn’t much fun.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unraveling it keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can get some helpful aid
from all the helpful CP authors made.

Meanwhile she looks for Christmas baubles bright,
"What colors are in? I’ll google that tonight."

And where are all those lovely crochet stars?
I have the idea: "I’ll make them myself," gladly, by far.

Quick as a flash, the yarn is already there.
So radiant in yellow, like sunshine in the air.

But where can I get a pattern from here?
The answer to that question is clear.

Checked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already — in the picture in the snow they lay

One click — this pattern has to be mine.
I could shout out loud with joy, feeling fine

But what was that? There’s a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that anymore.

The socks just won’t let me go
There’s knocking again! Who can it be, though?

Let me in! comes the call from outside
It’s me, of course — Saint Nicholas!!

Oh man, he has the big stocking with him
what’s in there, I really do care on a whim!

I’m so curious, I want to know,
tangerines, nuts, and the wished-for soft yarn I don’t want to forgo.

The yarn is first in line.
I hope Santa knows that fine.

Full of anticipation, Josefa opens the door
joyfully grabs the packages and thanks Santa warmly for them once more.

Where is the yarn in here?
Oh man, I’m so excited, my dear.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone there.

No yarn at all? That can’t be right!
Who swiped it — which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it, yay.
What joy! I’ll knit it in rounds today!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I’ll get cozy on the stove bench for a while.

But Christmas isn’t over yet; someone’s at the door.

But — oh no — now I’ve already discovered it before:
Someone has already hidden something there for sure.

There lies a package with a red bow,
Inside there’s no yarn; it smells like soap, you know!

Now mischief is tickling the back of my mind
I’ll just let the whole thing "sink in" for a time

Because soap in the oven isn’t something you find every day,

The socks won't leave me alone
There it knocks again! Who can it be, unknown?

Let me in! comes the voice from outside the house
It's me, of course—Santa Claus!!

Oh man, he's brought the big stocking along
what's inside it, I care about that strong!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
Mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for—I don't want to miss them, you know.

The yarn comes first, that's the plan.
I hope Santa Claus understands that, man.

Full of expectation, Josefa opens the door
gladly reaches for the packages and thanks Santa Claus warmly for them once more.

Which one has the yarn inside?
Oh man, how tense I am, wide-eyed.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn must be in there somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone to spare.

No yarn at all? That can't be right!
Who swiped it—which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it, dear.
What a joy! I'll knit it in the round right here!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll make myself cozy on the stove bench for a while.

But Christmas isn't over yet; someone is at the door.
After all, it's only a quarter to 4.

Then the smartphone rings too—who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is announced for me :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little parcels.
Where is there still a free corner for those?

After a moment's thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There's still room, you see!

But—oh dear—now I've already discovered it beforehand:
Someone has already hidden something there, unplanned.

There lies a package with a red bow,
There's no yarn inside; it smells like soap, you know!

Now mischief is whispering in my ear
I'll just let the whole thing "sink in" here

Because soap in the oven isn't something you find every day.
Does anyone have another question about that, by the way? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is somewhat amazed,
after all, she'll soon be 100 years of age.

A suitable hiding place was found after all,

Meanwhile the knitting needles make their rounds, sometimes slow and sometimes quick, "Has a hiding place been found?"

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn must be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone there.

No yarn at all? That can’t be right!
Who swiped it—which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it here.
What joy! I’ll knit it in rounds, my dear!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I’ll make myself cozy on the stove bench for a while.

But Christmas isn’t over yet; someone is standing at the door.
After all, it’s only a quarter to four.

Then the smartphone rings too—who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is on its way to me :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little packages.
Where is there still a free corner for all these packages?

After a moment’s thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There’s still room, you see!

But—oh dear—now I’ve already found it beforehand:
Someone has hidden something there, just as planned.

There lies a little package with a red bow,
There’s no yarn inside; it smells like soap, you know!

Now mischief is tickling the back of my neck
I’ll just let the whole thing “sink in” a sec

Because soap in the oven isn’t something you find every day.
Does anyone have any questions about that? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is a little surprised,
after all, she’ll soon be 100, age-wise.

A suitable hiding place was found after all.
Meanwhile the knitting needles keep making their rounds through it all.

What do you think—where might this hiding place be found?

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles click softly in the cozy room
while in the cooking pot, the turnips stew.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the youngest munches cookies through and through.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and knits a stocking — I can hardly believe what I see!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework is left with nothing to do.

The apartment smells of cookies sweet,
my little kitten sleeps on the sofa seat.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking’s nearly done,
but the wool is poor quality, not much fun.

Oh dear, what shall I do with it now?
Unraveling it keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can get help and more
from all the helpful CP authors galore.

Meanwhile she looks for Christmas baubles bright,
"Which colors are in? I’ll google that tonight."

And where are all the lovely crochet stars?
I have an idea: "I’ll make them myself," gladly, by far.

Quick as a flash, the wool is there.
So radiant in yellow, like sunshine in the air.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question is not a hard one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already — in the picture in the snow today

One click — this pattern has to be mine.
For joy I could shout out loud and shine

But what was that? There’s a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that anymore.

The socks just won’t let me go
There’s another knock! Who could it be, though?

Let me in! comes the call from outside the house
It’s me, of course — good old Santa Claus!!

Oh man, he has the big stocking with him today
what’s inside, I really can’t say!

I’m so curious, I want to know,
mandarins, nuts, and the soft wool I wished for — I don’t want to miss them, oh no.

The wool is first in line for me.
I hope Santa knows that, you see.

Full of expectation, Josefa opens the door
happily grabs the packages and thanks Santa warmly for them all the more.

Which one has the wool inside?
Oh man, how excited I feel inside.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The wool must be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone to spare.

No wool at all? That just can’t be right!
Who swiped it — which woolly little sprite?

At last I’ve found it, what a delight.
What joy! I’ll knit it in the round tonight!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child dear!
and I’ll make myself cozy on the stove bench here.

But Christmas isn’t over yet; someone is standing at the door.
After all, it’s only a quarter to 4.

After a short think, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There’s still room, you see!

But — oh dear — now I’ve found it beforehand:
Someone has already hidden something there, unplanned.

There lies a package with a red bow,
Inside there’s no wool; it smells like soap, you know!

Now mischief is whispering in my ear
I’ll just let the whole thing "sink in" here

Because soap in the oven isn’t something you find every day.
Does anyone have another question, by the way? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is a little surprised, it’s true,
after all, she’ll soon be 100 too.

A suitable hiding place was found after all.
Meanwhile, the knitting needles make their rounds without a stall.

What do you think, where might this hiding place be found?
Could it perhaps be somewhere back there, all around?

suddenly the doorbell rings; it’s my neighbor, Mrs. Schmidt

from all the helpful CP authors.

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles
"Which colors are in? I think I'll google it."

And where are all the lovely crochet stars?
I have an idea: "I'll make them myself" - I'd love to.

In a flash, the yarn is already here.
So bright in yellow, like the sun.

But where can I get a pattern?
The answer to that question is not hard.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hurray!
There they are already - in the picture in the snow

One click - this pattern has to be the one.
I could shout aloud for joy

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I don't have time for that now.

I can't stop thinking about the socks
There it is again! Who on earth could it be?

Let me in! comes the call from outside
It's me - St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he's brought the big sock along
what's in it? I really want to know!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
because I certainly don't want to miss the mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for.

The yarn comes first.
I hope Santa knows that.

Josefa opens the door full of anticipation
happily grabs the packages and warmly thanks Santa for them.

So where is the yarn now?
Oh man, I'm so excited.

In the first parcel there's a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in there somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone.

No yarn at all? That can't be right!
Who swiped it - which woolly little imp?

At last I've found it.
What a joy! I'll knit it in the round!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll make myself comfortable on the stove bench.

But Christmas is not over yet, there's someone at the door.
After all, it's only quarter to 4.

And now the smartphone rings too, who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is on its way :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more packages.
Where is there still a free little corner for them?

After a short thought it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There's still room there!

But - oh dear - now I've spotted it already:
Someone has hidden something there already.

There's a little package with a red ribbon,
There's no yarn inside, because it smells like soap!

Mischief is now playing on my mind
I'll just let the whole thing "sink in"

Because you don't find soap in the oven every day.
Does anyone still have a question about that? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is a little puzzled,
after all, she'll soon be 100.

A suitable hiding place was found after all.
Meanwhile the knitting needles go round and round.

What do you think, where might this hiding place be found?
Could it perhaps be somewhere back there?

exactly, there's still space back there in the cupboard
and also in the stove bench.

Oh, there are still many hiding places,
in Grandma's cupboard there in the hallway.

Now then, quickly, put it in there,
the doorbell suddenly rings, it's my neighbor Mrs. Schmidt

No one was expecting her, I suppose

The needles click softly in the cozy room
while turnips in the cooking pot stew.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming away,
while the youngest munches cookies today.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and knits a stocking—I can hardly believe!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework simply falls through.

The apartment smells of cookies so sweet,
on the sofa my kitty is fast asleep.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking’s nearly done,
but the yarn is cheap, not a good one.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unraveling it keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can get help, of course,
from all the helpful CP authors.

Meanwhile she looks for Christmas baubles bright,
"Which colors are in? I’ll Google that tonight."

And where are all the lovely crochet stars?
I’ve got the idea: "I’ll make them myself," and gladly by far.

In a flash, the yarn is already there.
So bright in yellow, like sunshine’s glare.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question isn’t a hard one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they already are—on the picture in the snow today

One click—this pattern is the one for me.
I could shout out loud with glee

But what was that? A knock at the door!
Never mind, I don’t have time for it anymore.

I can’t tear myself away from the socks
There’s knocking again! Who is that, gosh?

Let me in! comes the call from outside the house
It’s me, of course—St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he’s brought the big stocking along
what’s inside, I really do care, and strong!

I’m so curious, I want to know,
mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for—I’d hate to let them go.

The yarn is first in line.
I hope Santa Claus knows that just fine.

Full of expectation, Josefa opens the door
happily grabs the packages and thanks Santa Claus warmly for them all the more.

Where is the yarn in here, then?
Oh man, how excited I am again.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone there.

No yarn at all? That can’t be right!
Who swiped it—which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it now.
What a joy! I’ll knit it in the round somehow!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I’ll make myself comfy on the stove bench awhile.

But Christmas isn’t over yet; someone is standing at the door.
After all, it’s only a quarter to four.

Then the smartphone rings too—who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is on the way :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little packages.
Where is there still a free corner for all these bundles?

After a short thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! It still fits in there, you see!

But—oh dear—I’ve already discovered it before:
Someone has hidden something there for sure.

There lies a package with a red bow,
There’s no yarn inside; it smells like soap, you know!

Mischief is breathing down my neck now
I’ll just let the whole thing "sink in" somehow

Because you don’t find soap in the oven every day.
Does anyone have another question to say? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is rather amazed,
after all, she’ll soon be 100 one of these days.

A suitable hiding place was found after all.
Meanwhile the knitting needles keep making their rounds in the hall.

What do you think, where might this hiding place be found?
Could it perhaps be somewhere back there, around?

exactly, there’s still room back there in the cupboard
and also in the stove bench, undiscovered.

Oh, there are still many hiding places to share,
in Grandma’s cupboard out in the hall there.

But now, quickly put it in there,
suddenly the doorbell rings; it’s my neighbor Mrs. Schmidt out there

No one expected her at all, I’d say

So now we quickly dash to the door without delay.
Mrs. Schmidt only wants to borrow 2 eggs...

The wool comes first.
I hope Santa knows that.

Someone has hidden something there already.

There’s a little package with a red bow;
it doesn’t contain any yarn—it smells of soap!

The impish mood is getting the better of me,
I’ll just let the whole thing “sink in” for a bit.

After all, you don’t find soap in the oven every day.
Does anyone have any questions about that? ;-)

The needles click softly in the warm room
while in the pot the turnip starts to stew.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the youngest munches cookies through and through.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and knits a stocking—can this really be!

And afterward she crochets a blanket as well
while the housework falls by the wayside, you can tell.

The apartment smells of cookies baking,
on the sofa my little cat is napping.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking is nearly done,
but the yarn is poor quality, which is no fun.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unravel it—that keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can go and get some aid
from all the helpful CP authors who have patterns made.

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles bright,
"Which colors are in? I'll google that tonight."

And where have all the pretty crochet stars gone?
I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," I'll gladly get that done.

Quick as a flash, the yarn is here already.
As radiant in yellow as the sun, so steady.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question isn't a tricky one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow they lay

One click—this pattern has to be mine.
With joy I could shout out loud and shine

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I don't have time for that anymore.

The socks won't let me go
Then it knocks again! Who is that, though?

Let me in! comes the sound from outside
It's me, of course—St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he has the big stocking with him
what's inside, I really do care on a whim!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for—I don't want to let them go.

The yarn comes first of all.
I hope Santa knows that call.

Full of anticipation, Josefa opens the door
happily grabs the packages and thanks Santa warmly for them once more.

Now where is the yarn inside?
Oh man, my excitement I just can't hide.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone to spare.

No yarn at all? That can't be right!
Who snatched it—what woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it, my delight.
What joy! I'll knit it in the round tonight!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll make myself cozy on the stove bench for a while.

But Christmas isn't over yet; someone is at the door.
After all, it's only quarter to four.

Then the smartphone rings as well—who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is announcing itself to me :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little packages.
Where can we find a free corner for all these packages?

After a moment's thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There's still room, you see!

But—oh dear—now I've discovered it too soon:
Someone has already hidden something there this afternoon.

There lies a little package with a red bow,
Inside there's no yarn, because it smells like soap, you know!

Mischief is now sitting on my neck
I'll simply let the whole thing "sink in," what the heck

Because soap in the oven isn't something you find every day.
Does anyone have another question, pray? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is a little surprised,
after all, she'll soon be 100, quite wise.

A suitable hiding place was found after all.
Meanwhile the knitting needles make their rounds and call.

What do you think, where might this hiding place be found?
Could it perhaps be somewhere back there, around?

exactly, there's still space back there in the cupboard
and also in the stove bench, undiscovered.

Ah, there are still so many hiding places,
in Grandma's cupboard there in the hallway spaces.

But now, quickly, put it in there,

No one had expected her, I suspect

Oh God, oh God, what stress,

Someone has already hidden something there.

There lies a little package with a red ribbon,
There's no yarn inside; it smells like soap!

Now mischief is sitting on my shoulder
I'll just let the whole thing "sink in"

Because you don't find soap in the oven every day.
Does anyone have any questions about that? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is a little puzzled,
after all, she'll soon be 100.

A suitable hiding place was found after all.
Meanwhile the knitting needles make their rounds.

What do you think, where might this hiding place be found?
Have fun in my shop:

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles click softly in the cozy room
while a turnip simmers in the cooking pot.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the youngest munches on cookies.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and is knitting a stocking - I can hardly believe it!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too
while the housework falls by the wayside.

The apartment smells of cookies,
my little cat is sleeping on the sofa.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking is almost done,
but the yarn is poor quality.

Oh dear, what do I do with it now?
Unraveling it keeps me fit.

Josefa can get help
from all the helpful CP authors.

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles
"Which colors are in? I'll go google that."

And where are all the lovely crochet stars?
I have the idea: "I'll make them myself," I love doing that.

Quick as a wink, the yarn is already there.
As radiant in yellow as the sun.

But where can I get a pattern?
The answer to that question is not hard.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they already are - in the picture in the snow

One click - this pattern has to be the one.
I could shout out loud for joy

But what was that? There's a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for that now.

The socks won't let me go
There it knocks again! Who could that be?

Let me in! That's what sounds from outside
It's me, after all - St. Nicholas!!

Oh man, he has the big sock with him
what on earth is in there? I really do care!

I'm so curious, I want to know,
I really wouldn't want to miss out on mandarins, nuts, and the soft yarn I wished for.

The yarn comes first.
I hope Santa Claus knows that.

Full of anticipation, Josefa opens the door
happily reaches for the packages and thanks Santa Claus very warmly for them.

Now which one has the yarn in it?
Oh man, how excited I am.

In the first little package is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The yarn has to be in one of them somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone.

No yarn at all? That can't be!
Who swiped it - which woolly imp?

At last I've found it.
What joy! I'll knit it in rounds!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll make myself cozy on the stove bench.

But Christmas isn't over yet; someone is at the door.
After all, it's only quarter to 4.

Then the smartphone rings too; who could it be?
Surprise: more yarn is on the way :-)

Aunt Auguste arrives with even more little packages.
Where is there still a free little corner for them?

After a moment's thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There's still room in there!

But - oh dear - now I've already discovered it beforehand:
Someone has already hidden something there.
