August Projects: UFO Week starting August 27, rescuing wallflowers and yarn, Best of Leftovers, yarn diet / Yarn Emperor/Empress / rule over this galaxy / Milky Way

It’s great to see the August projects piling up here. There’s going to be quite a collection by the end of the month. I always love getting to admire your wonderful creations.

The purple baby shawl—which matches the new sweater—is also finished. Here’s a photo of it together with the yellow one:

And here’s what the sweater looks like so far:

Count them, please: How many pieces of clothing do you own?

I’m just like Christina when it comes to shoes, since I also have complicated feet. Finding really good, comfortable shoes is almost like winning the lottery for me. ;-)

Since we’re in Bavaria, today is a holiday here. I’ve only ever seen this in Bavaria and Austria.

Marion, those are really cute. :-) Thanks for sharing! So you’ve finished another August project—and maybe even from leftover yarn, right?

How’s it going for you all? Right now, the weather is perfect for knitting and crocheting again, so I’m making good progress.

Today, my baby sweater grew a bit. A photo will follow in the next few days.

I’m still stuck on the bag a little. But yesterday I had a brilliant idea on how to continue crocheting it. Then I’ll probably be able to finish it in August.

I’ve also finished the baby scarf—it matches the sweater.

Sandra, those could possibly be the little teeth.

Marion, you’ll definitely show us your baby shoes in the August thread, right?

Little Helpers Tuesday: Make the most of every minute.

It’s very pleasant today at 25 degrees. Thunderstorm clouds are rolling in, but so far they haven’t reached us yet. So it’s possible to do some needlework outside, too.

In any case, I’m going to keep knitting on the new baby sweater today. And my UFO—the bag—is still waiting for some crocheting to be finished.

Mini Projects to Take Along

For this headband in a pretty waffle pattern, you only need leftover yarn and 2 needles from a set of double-pointed needles. There’s always room for that.

It’s very easy; the pattern explains it very well, even if you’re a beginner with basic skills.

The colors can be changed, and any size is possible—even for adults.

Mini Projects to Take Along

This circular collar only needs 1 (leftover) skein of thin cotton yarn and a 40 cm circular needle. You can take it anywhere.

It's so easy to knit with the pattern that you can do it even as a beginner. You should have basic skills.

Count them, please: How many pieces of clothing do you own?

Oh no, I’d rather not count! I definitely have too much, too.

I have quite a few hand-knitted items—at least 10 pieces. I only started knitting again just under two years ago. If my collection grows from here, I’ll get rid of what I no longer need. I do that every now and then, by the way.

I’m also not the typical woman who collects shoes, for example. I only have a few pairs that I wear until they’re worn out. I even take my favorite shoes to the cobbler.

And my clothes are so neutral that I still wear them even after 10 or even 20 years. I actually have a few favorite pieces like that...

I rarely buy clothes, and when I do, it’s only for basics like socks, etc. Everything else I make myself now.

Have you bought any yarn today? Who treated themselves to something? Who stayed strong?

Congratulations on your self-control, Heike!

I stocked up well in July. Next week I’m visiting Waltrauds Wollkörberl, and I definitely won’t be leaving without some yarn.

After that, it’s time for a yarn fast. I’m running out of space for new yarn. I don’t want to create any homeless yarn, after all. ;-)

How are you today? With weather updates.

After two days of rest, it was over 30 degrees again yesterday and today. But with the cool breaks in between, it really isn’t that unpleasant anymore. Luckily it will be cooler again tomorrow, and thunderstorms are forecast for this evening.

I’m currently working on a new design for a baby sweater. :-) With so many possibilities, making a decision isn’t exactly easy for me, as always.

I’m sure I’ll also get around to knitting and crocheting today.

Best, Monika
