Today isn’t a holiday in Baden-Württemberg either… but since I’m currently on vacation in the Allgäu, today is a holiday for me :-D

Since we’re in Bavaria, today is a holiday here. I’ve only ever seen this in Bavaria and Austria.

The Bavarians do have by far the most holidays. I think they have 5 more than we do. Or maybe just 4. We have Reformation Day now, after all.

In Italy, “Ferragosto,” as it’s called there, is celebrated in a big way. Everyone is at the beach, and the cities are completely deserted. Hardly any public transportation is running, and the museums are closed (as are the stores, of course).
