Summer 2019 / Fall 2019: Curious yet?

This vest has slimming stripes that are simply crocheted onto the finished vest. Bouclé cotton was used here, but any wool or cotton with a similar yarn weight can be used.

I wear this vest all summer and fall, as it can be combined in so many ways.

The pattern describes size 40/42. Easy for experienced knitters to knit.

March Projects: Part 2.

Claudia, your projects turned out really beautiful. I also really like the pattern in both of them.
I’ve never heard of this technique before; it sounds difficult. But the result is impressive. What are you planning to make from it?

I’m still working on the little sleeping bag for a 20-cm-tall baby—the doll by Linja. I’ve kind of lost my motivation for it over the last few days.

And then my husband had another great idea, which I put into action right away.

We’re now taking drinking glasses with us in the RV. And we’ve been going back and forth on how to store them in the cabinet so they won’t break. Bubble wrap came to mind. And what did my husband say? “You could just crochet covers for them!” I’ve already finished two glasses, and they look really great. Four more glasses are still waiting to be covered. I’m making two of each in matching color combinations. The next ones will be dark red, white, and orange.

It’s a really nice garden project. Spring has arrived here. :)

Here’s what the finished glasses look like:

Your smallest or largest project? The most important project?

Wow, I’m thrilled by what I’m seeing here! :) Especially the beautiful wedding handicrafts—they’re simply unbeatable.

My smallest project was actually not that long ago: the ear pads for my headphones.

My biggest project was probably my thick poncho. I was so glad when it was finally finished.

My favorite project… well, there are actually quite a few. I love knitting baby clothes the most—they’re all among my favorites.

My most important project… I can’t really name just one there either. All the projects commissioned by my family are important to me; I especially enjoy making those.

March Projects: Part 2.

Oh Sandra, your Snoopy and your bride and groom turned out really well. Both are works of art in their own right.

Marlene, your tablecloth is really taking shape beautifully. Great!

Claudia, your tunic turned out great. Congratulations on your perseverance!
Yes, that whole thing about devices staging a mass suicide—I know that too. Luckily, that feels like decades ago now. All our appliances are behaving themselves, and some of them are really quite old by now. Our car, though, is currently in the shop. The exhaust finally had to be replaced after 11 years.

Ah yes, the neglected yarn. Yesterday I pulled out two balls of a thicker acrylic yarn that had been lying around for a long time and started knitting a swatch. My goodness, it sheds like crazy. I don’t even want to think about the microplastics that are released when it’s washed. Today I decided to throw it away. It’s just no fun—especially when there’s soooo much lovely yarn waiting to be turned into pretty projects. Sometimes decisions like that just have to be made.

I still have to tell you something about the doll clothing set with trousers and a sweater. My granddaughter and I shared a birthday yesterday. I got a video of her unwrapping the presents, and I really had to laugh. She’s used to getting knitted things from me. This time, though, it was the dolls’ turn for the first time.

She unwrapped the trousers, held them up in front of herself, and her comment was: "But those don’t fit me at all." And she was grinning from ear to ear: "They’re for the baby!" So at first she thought of her little sibling—and only then of her doll.

Sweet, isn’t it?

This pretty tissue box—decorated with butterflies and hearts—is a real classic, and not just in my shop. Think of the toilet rolls people used to crochet covers for; here, it’s simply a tissue box.

It’s also well received everywhere as a gift, for example for a birth. After all, you always need tissues for a baby. In this box, they’re decoratively hidden away.

Tip for environmentally minded folks: instead of napkins, just place this pretty box on the dining table. It has worked well for us, and everyone thinks it’s great.

March Projects: Part 2.

OMG, you’ve all been so busy! Things are really hopping here—how cool! :)
You’re away for just one day, and there’s already so much to see.

Mel, what you’re saying about your yarn sounds really good. So far, I’ve only worked with synthetic chenille yarn, and I’ll definitely never do that again. I haven’t tried it with cotton yet.

Ida, your embroidery turned out great. I could imagine that some people would want something like that too. It’s quite an art that you were able to recreate it so well from a photo.

Sofi, I think the pattern on your scarf for your mom is very pretty, and I love the colors too. Your mom will definitely be thrilled with it.

Marlen, I’m excited to see your tablecloth. Sounds really good.

Petra, your embroidered bunny is cute, too. I remember embroidering little Easter cards myself many years ago. They were a big hit with the recipients. If I had more time, I’d really love to start doing that again. It’s really contagious. The toads are out and about again here, too. Unfortunately, we saw a lot of them yesterday on our walk that hadn’t made it to the pond. In the spring, the baby toads are always hopping around our garden. They’re totally cute, and we’ve already built a barrier so they don’t all tumble down the basement stairs and we have to go pick them up.

I was also busy over the weekend and finished knitting the sleeping bag for Sternchen. There are three different ways Sternchen can wear it. I don’t have a photo of one of them yet, but I can show you two of them here. Doesn’t she look absolutely adorable in it?

March Projects: Fun with crafting, nice company, all the popular title highlights.

Mel, your socks look great!
The yarn for the doll clothes isn’t that thin—just regular LL at 125 m/50 g. They’re great to knit on the side. The sleeping bag, though, is made with thicker yarn and goes relatively fast. I’m already working on the back piece.

Christina, I think your bunny dishcloth is really cute, too.

I just got inspired by a granny square pattern here in a birthday thread. I downloaded it and will be crocheting some granny squares again now and then. That’ll use up quite a bit of colorful leftover yarn. Plus, I could use a few more coasters.

In any case, I don’t have any UFOs left now, and I think that’s great.

It’s nice to see so much going on here. I love stopping by to see all the amazing things you’re making.

Josefa, I think a follow-up thread would be great, because this one is already pretty long and there’s a lot to scroll through. ;-)

Wow, you’ve all been so busy. There’s really a lot going on here—great! :)

Petra, your wax bunny looks great. Did you make it using a special mold?
I also like your street find—I would’ve taken that basket home too.

Ida, I think it’s impressive to embroider a picture from a photo. It’s sure to turn out great! Embroidery files are in high demand here at CP too, from what I’ve noticed.

This morning I designed a sleeping bag for Sternchen and got started on it right away. I’m also going to knit a smaller version of it for my granddaughter’s baby doll. I still have quite a bit of leftover yarn from the baby sleeping bag. That way, my stash gets put to good use at the same time.

Now I’m going to get back to writing the pattern for the doll pants.
