So my goals for March are:

Buy no yarn,
Finish a jacket for Anton using stepchild yarn
At least 3 Punch and Judy puppets:
Seppel, wizard, princess

I’m already looking forward to your projects. :-)

Of course, I’ll be joining in again, because it’s just so much fun to admire each other’s amazing creations. :)

Since I’m currently in a creative phase, I don’t have any specific goals yet. I’ll just let things happen for now.

In any case, I’ll keep using up my stash of yarn and coming up with projects for my leftover yarn. I’m curious myself to see what ends up coming out of it all.

I’ve been sitting on the sofa since Tuesday, sick. And since then, I haven’t managed to get anything productive done. I’ll start knitting with some yarn, but after a few centimeters, I’ll rip it all out again because either I don’t like it or it’s full of mistakes. Then I move on to the next skein. Thank goodness I have plenty of yarn in stock at home......

I’d imagined being “sick” would be so nice—knitting all day—but unfortunately, my head isn’t cooperating. I hope that once my cold goes away, my creativity will come back too.

Now that I’ve successfully finished February, I’ll be joining in again in March.
I don’t have any specific projects yet, but I’ll definitely be trying out the new Crasy Trios and trying to use up a lot of yarn.
Since I couldn’t resist yet again, I bought yarn for a bigger project, and I still have huge amounts of sock yarn lying around here. I have 700g left over from the coat, and I still have some mohair yarn too—we’ll see what turns out of it.

It was the same for me as for Petra.
I’ve had a cold for two weeks now, too. I didn’t really feel like knitting or crocheting either, so I didn’t get much done in February. I have a few commitments in March and won’t have much time either. But I’ll definitely be joining in here and will show you what I’ve managed to get done.

P.S.: The jacket for my daughter hasn’t progressed much yet. But I’m sure it’ll get better.

Hi Petra and Marion,
I wish you and everyone else who’s sick a speedy recovery!
Sometimes the body just needs a break, and it simply takes one on its own. Don’t let it stress you out—you’ll be fine. And then things will just fall back into place on their own. Even an avid skier wouldn’t think of going skiing while sick ;-)

ruthk: Yes, it’s true! A friend of my daughter’s is out on the slopes with a fever!
I wish everyone with a cold or feeling under the weather a speedy and full recovery!

I’ve set some goals for March again: There are several birthdays coming up in April, and Easter is still on the horizon. I’m curious to see what I’ll be able to accomplish—I certainly don’t lack ideas!

Dear Petra and Marion, I wish you both a speedy recovery from the bottom of my heart!

Yes, when you’re sick, nothing really brings you joy. But keep your chin up—things will surely change for the better soon. The beautiful season is just around the corner, and once it’s warmer outside and you’re healthy again, your joy in crafting will return as well.

Petra and Marion: I also wish you a speedy recovery

So, Seppel is finished—he’s not one of my best figures. The gray yarn is a terrible frogging nightmare. It was hard to work with. But now it’s used up too, and even the tiniest little scrap is being thrown away :-)

Now it’s the wizard’s turn.

Thanks. I just realized I forgot to sew the buttons onto the suspenders. They’re right next to me. I’ll do that tomorrow. :-)
Now I hope I have enough yarn for the wizard’s body. It looks perfect. :-)

@Arni your Seppl turned out great. Even with a shirt collar and hair. Simply brilliant.

Thanks to everyone for the get-well wishes. And from me too, get well soon to everyone else who’s under the weather. Lots of rest, lots of tea (it’s supposed to help).

In March, I’d like to finish a crocheted hat and publish the pattern for it.
I already have a new lace and cable pattern ready.

Then I finally want to start on my tablecloth, which I’ve been putting off for what feels like an eternity.

Sandra, your Seppl turned out beautifully again!

Thank you for your kind wishes. I’m feeling better now, but my husband has come down with it.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend—stay healthy, or get some good rest.

Marion: Well then, I hope you have strong nerves :-))) Sick men can be very exhausting.

My husband sees it differently, though. He once told me that I couldn’t understand it—I’d just never been as sick as he was. ... And it was just a regular cold!

I was just down in the basement to grab some more yarn for the Wizard. While I was there, I came across some yarn from my frogging pile. It’s the perfect yarn for a grandma hand puppet. I think I’ll make the grandma one first. I’m really in the mood for it right now. I can practically see her right in front of me. :-)))

Sandra, your Seppel is totally cool! I think it turned out great, and Anton is really going to enjoy it. :)

To everyone who’s been feeling under the weather, I hope you have plenty of time and rest to recover, and that you’ll feel better again soon and enjoy crafting again.

Marion, even though you weren’t feeling your best, you did a great job on that doll sweater. I’m sure you’ll show it off here too.

Speaking of doll clothes...
I’m really in the mood to knit even more doll clothes now. Marion inspired me with her super-cute doll. It’s actually the same size as my granddaughter’s.

Since my birthday is coming up soon and I’ve fallen in love with this doll, my husband spontaneously said he wants to give it to me as a birthday present. Gosh, I have such a wonderful and patient husband! Even after 31 years, I still love him for that. :) Because he has no trouble living among teddy bears and mountains of yarn… and now the dolls are multiplying, too.

A new design is already starting to take shape. I plan to knit a little doll for my next grandchild. It’ll be 30 cm tall and knitted in a baby-safe way. Of course,

it’ll get some clothes, too. I’m really looking forward to my new projects. I’ve also almost finished the crocheted jar for my sister-in-law, and I’ll show it to you guys soon.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Love, Monika

Sandra, I’m already curious about the granny. Meanwhile, I’m struggling with the locomotive—it’s not quite what I imagined; it looks a bit wobbly, even though it’s not quite finished yet. Yesterday I bought some new spring yarn to make a shawl for my mom for Mother’s Day—I’m already so excited. I know I should finish the train first and wrap up my other UFOs, but that shawl is just so tempting...

Sofi: I know that too—when you have a new project in mind, it’s hard to finish the old one. That’s exactly how I feel right now. I’m still working on the wizard at the moment. ... But in the back of my mind, Grandma is calling :-))))
I think the wizard will be finished by tomorrow evening at the latest, and then I’ll get started on Grandma.

So, here’s my first finished March project.

It’s Monika’s sweet baby sweater on my little darling.
Monika fell in love with it right away, just like I did when I bought it back then.

Marion, that doll is absolutely adorable—and so is the sweater, of course.

Hehe, I just couldn’t resist and ended up starting my shawl for my mom after all. It’s turning out to be harder than I thought—I’ve had to rip it out a zillion times—but I’ve made a start. The locomotive is completely finished so far, but it didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted. I’ll show it to you once the train car is finished too. But, as I said, the shawl is much more interesting right now.

Marion, your sweater turned out really cute. And I’m getting my doll tomorrow, too. I’m as excited as a kid. :)

Delaila, your butterfly turned out very pretty. You make great things out of beads.

DreatOwl, your pattern looks pretty, too. I can’t wait to see more...

Here’s the not-yet-finished crochet-covered glass for my sister-in-law:

And here’s the new little sweater in the same size as Marion’s doll/teddy bear sweater. My granddaughter is getting one for her doll for her birthday.

People are already hard at work here again! You’ve conjured up some amazing things! Sandra, your Seppl is really cute, and I also really like Marion’s Schlütti.
I also really like Deleila’s beaded pendant and Monika’s creations. I hope I didn’t forget anyone!

I haven’t been sitting idle either! I crocheted a door wreath for the Hippos and started a toe-up sock yesterday with my new Crasys needles.

Thanks, CreatOwl! :) Just a quick question: Are you Marlene or Lisa?

Marion, I’m excited to see your new creations… you’ll definitely show them to us, right?

This morning I unraveled half of the new little doll jacket again. I didn’t really like the pattern placement. Now I’d rather redo this part so that I’m truly happy with it.

Unfortunately, my doll still hasn’t arrived today. :( According to the tracking info, it went off in the wrong direction somewhere along the way.
Let’s hope it arrives tomorrow. It’s being eagerly awaited and will have a photo shoot right away. :) I already love it dearly.

The beaded pendants by deleila—but that would be too fiddly for me. :-)

Creatowl: As someone who doesn’t knit, I can’t really picture your pattern. I’m curious to see what it looks like when it’s bigger.

Minika: I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the doll arrives tomorrow.

Well, Monika, the “fifth season” has begun in parts of Germany. Depending on where she’s coming from (the Rhineland???), you’ll probably have to wait a little longer for your doll. It’s like a public holiday there. But “on Ash Wednesday, it’s all over...” ;-))

I’m soooo in love with my “Sternchen.” It actually arrived today and was given a warm welcome. Here’s what it looked like when it arrived:

And then she got to model the sweater right away—look how great it looks on her and how well it fits:

The only things missing from the Schlüttli in her size now are the sleeves and the buttons. The try-on went really well.

Marion, I hope you get well soon. Trust your body—it’s very smart. ;-)

Whenever I see your amazing creations here, I get more and more tempted to toss my tunic in the corner and start something new... it’s just been taking way too long now.
At least the end is in sight, but I haven’t been able to motivate myself to keep crocheting for the past 3 days.
I’m sticking with it, though, and won’t start anything new... I hope.

Instead, I’ve started working on my little Easter gifts.
I made owls out of modeling clay and painted and decorated a few eggshells—which, by the way, resulted in a delicious cake.
Since I don’t have enough empty eggshells yet, I’ll probably have to bake again… a nice side effect!
I’ve already assembled the first eggs, and I really like how they turned out.

Wow, Sandra, your grandma turned out great! I really like it. It seems to me that you’re getting even better with every figure.

Claudia, your owls in eggs turned out absolutely adorable. The recipients are sure to be delighted. A really pretty decoration.

Marlene, the start of your tablecloth is already looking very nice. You’ve still got quite a bit ahead of you. I can’t wait to see the finished tablecloth.

And last night I knitted a hat for my little one that fits perfectly. Here’s what it looks like now:

Now I’m working on a matching pair of pants for her. :)

I’ve got some beer liqueur simmering away right now...

My sweetheart brews his own beer, and unfortunately, the last batch didn’t turn out right… no carbonation and pretty sweet.
Of course, I don’t want to throw it all away, so I’m experimenting with it now.

Somehow, it smells very Christmassy in here right now—beer is simmering with vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, lime zest, and ginger… I’m curious to see how it turns out!

Arni, I think your grandma is awesome. She’ll definitely end up looking all tattered and worn at some point, just as beloved cuddly companions are supposed to.

I’d love to crochet a blanket like that for myself, too, Marlene… but unfortunately, my sweetheart isn’t on board with that.
He thinks it’s “too much yarn”…
In any case, it’s definitely going to turn out really great.

Marion, the pants are actually already finished—except for weaving in the ends. Yes, they’re knitted without a gusset. I tried it, and it fits the doll perfectly.

Now I’m starting the second pair of pants, which my granddaughter will get for her birthday. That one will be a red-and-yellow combination.

Hi landlady, it’s great to have you join us here. Your dragonfly pattern looks very pretty.

My photos sometimes shift around here, too. My tip: pay attention to where the cursor is when you upload them. That’s exactly where the photos will appear.

I always leave a paragraph, or one blank line, between two paragraphs and place the photo there. I’m sure you’ll manage it too.

Landlady, when I upload pictures here in the forum, they always end up right at the beginning of the post. I then select them, cut them out, and paste them where I want them to be.
I think this works differently depending on the device you’re using...

By the way, welcome to the forum.

The liqueur turned out pretty well, and I also made some beer jam. It’s amazing what you can make with beer...

Today I made a cheesecake; for the crust, I dried some of the spent grain (that’s the boiled grain left over after brewing...) and ground it into flour... Since the crust doesn’t need to rise, this was my first attempt with spent grain flour... It tasted good, but the effort involved in drying and grinding it is pretty significant—I don’t think I’ll do it again.

By the way, fresh spent grain bread is also very tasty...

Hi Claudia, I’m always amazed at all the things you can make with beer. I’ve actually tried making beer jam myself once, for my dad for Christmas. I haven’t tasted it myself yet, though—but he thought it was delicious.

I also really like the set for Sternchen.
And hopefully everyone who was sick is healthy again by now!

It’s great to have you here now.

I’m almost done with the second pair of doll pants. The red-and-yellow set needs to be mailed by Friday at the latest so it arrives in time for Linja’s birthday. Her doll will definitely look cute in them. I’ll show it here again once it’s completely finished.

I’ve also already finished a little sock for Sternchen. That’s totally cute, too.

Ida, I think it’s great that you’ve rediscovered embroidery for yourself, and I’m already really excited to see the final result.
My second sock is almost finished. My husband would just like the cuffs to be longer so he can fold them over. (It’s not like I asked him beforehand...) I’ll have to go back and adjust the first one too—luckily, I haven’t woven in the end tail on that one yet.

Thanks, Mel. Well, I don’t knit around the clock—it’s usually an evening-long activity, plus 1–2 hours during the day. Little things like this just get done quickly.

Now the second pair of pants is finished—the red-and-yellow ones that my granddaughter will get. Here are both pairs together. I like them both:

And here’s what my little star looks like in the red-and-yellow set (which Linja got for her doll for her birthday):

And I’ve also finished a little doll sock—here it is:

The sock fits my little star perfectly.

And I’ve finished something else to give as a gift. My sister-in-law had asked for a crocheted cover for a jar that’s meant to hold flowers. Here’s what it looks like now that it’s finished:

Thank you all so much for the compliments on the embroidered picture. They’re supposed to be crocuses. Last week (when it was still spring), I took this photo and then created a counted chart using the colors I had on hand. I’m using regular cotton scraps. Here’s what the original looks like:

Oh, you’ve all been busy.

Your doll clothes look great. And with the little buttons, they’re surely very easy to put on, too.

@ iglinz: Embroidering from just one picture? Hats off, I wouldn’t dare do that. I always look for a ready-made template. But I’m excited to see it.

The thing with the beer sounds exciting. Beer jam. Is it sweet like jam made from fruit? I definitely need to ask Mr. Google sometime.

I’m still working on my started knitting projects and have two projects / patterns going at the same time.

The weather here is so gloomy, stormy, and nasty that you don’t want to go outside or take good pictures.

In between, I’m working on sprucing up a “street find.” After I scrubbed it properly and it had dried, it now has to dry again because I sprayed it with white paint. After that, some fabric is supposed to go inside.

And then there was a new wax bunny for my Easter collection

The bunny on the far left is new. Used up all the white leftovers.

For someone who thinks I haven’t experienced anything, my report turned out pretty long.

Wow, you’ve all been so busy. There’s really a lot going on here—great! :)

Petra, your wax bunny looks great. Did you make it using a special mold?
I also like your street find—I would’ve taken that basket home too.

Ida, I think it’s impressive to embroider a picture from a photo. It’s sure to turn out great! Embroidery files are in high demand here at CP too, from what I’ve noticed.

This morning I designed a sleeping bag for Sternchen and got started on it right away. I’m also going to knit a smaller version of it for my granddaughter’s baby doll. I still have quite a bit of leftover yarn from the baby sleeping bag. That way, my stash gets put to good use at the same time.

Now I’m going to get back to writing the pattern for the doll pants.

Claudia, your bunny turned out beautifully. When I saw the picture of your street find, it occurred to me that I actually have two of those.
They’re just sitting around somewhere. Maybe I should spruce them up too.

I can already show you something new. There are more to come.

Those little chickens are so cute.

I used a cake pan as a mold for the bunny.

Marion, there’s quite a clucking going on in your pretty chicken coop! I’m already looking forward to crocheting it myself!

Petra: That bunny is great.

Marion: The Schlüttli is very pretty. I like the colors. It’s so northern German :-)

The chickens are so cute.

Monika: I’m already looking forward to seeing the sleeping bag.

I finished my princess today

So Sandra, I really have to say, you’re getting better with every figure. The princess turned out very pretty. It must be fun to play with her.

Marion, your flock of chickens turned out really cute. I can almost hear them clucking.

Petra, I figured you’d used a cake pan, because somehow the bunny looked familiar to me. ;-)

The sleeping bag is turning out totally cute—just like one for a real baby, only smaller. I made good progress tonight. The front is almost done. Let’s see how far I get this weekend.

Thank you very much. I’m noticing that my motivation to make hand puppets is waning a bit right now. I’m going to do something else for a while.

I already have a jacket and Snoopy in the works anyway.

I wish you all a good night.

So, my toe-up socks are finally finished! I struggled with the cuff—since my husband has thick calves, the bind-off edge had to be especially flexible. I had to redo it twice, but now everything fits perfectly, and he put them on right away yesterday :) But now it’s time for something bigger again—those tiny little stitches are really exhausting! I really admire Monika and Marion—after all, their doll clothes are all made from thin yarn. I also really like the lovely results from everyone else!

Nadeleule: The socks turned out beautifully! What yarn did you use? Mine are finished too—thanks to the gloomy weather during the holidays—and my husband put them on right away as well. I’ll show mine too.
Sandra, you’ve really become the queen of hand puppets! They’re all absolutely fantastic!

The yarn is from Al.i’s latest sale. It knitted up quite nicely—I’m curious to see how it looks after washing.

I think the socks are great, too. That reminds me—I also have a pair of socks I started somewhere on my Crazy Trio needles—I should finish them sometime. I really like the princess, too. You’ve all knitted such amazingly beautiful things while I’ve been struggling with my shawl, but that’ll be over soon because I’m already at the decrease stage.

Thanks for your nice comments.
Sandra, the princess turned out beautifully again. I understand that you want to work on something different in between. I crocheted some baby shoes, and then I felt the same way you do. That’s why I made the chickens. In between, I worked on the Schlüttli, and then I’ll make a few more shoes.
You’re right, the Schlüttli has a Nordic look. That’s why there’s a matching hat, too.
Mel, your socks look great, too—lovely colors. I haven’t knitted any toe-up socks yet.

Made during a dreary week of vacation! The wrapped bunny is flying to South America tomorrow; the other one will be given away at the end of April.

The princess turned out great. Is that contagious? I’ll show her to my grandson—let’s see.... I definitely like your group.

The rabbits (dishcloth, potholders?)—a great Easter gift.

Mel, your socks look great!
The yarn for the doll clothes isn’t that thin—just regular LL at 125 m/50 g. They’re great to knit on the side. The sleeping bag, though, is made with thicker yarn and goes relatively fast. I’m already working on the back piece.

Christina, I think your bunny dishcloth is really cute, too.

I just got inspired by a granny square pattern here in a birthday thread. I downloaded it and will be crocheting some granny squares again now and then. That’ll use up quite a bit of colorful leftover yarn. Plus, I could use a few more coasters.

In any case, I don’t have any UFOs left now, and I think that’s great.

It’s nice to see so much going on here. I love stopping by to see all the amazing things you’re making.

Josefa, I think a follow-up thread would be great, because this one is already pretty long and there’s a lot to scroll through. ;-)

You’re all so fast—I can’t even keep up with looking at everything. Christina, that’s an adorable gift.
But the princesses, socks, doll dresses, and chickens turned out great, too!

Hi Petra.
You asked about the beer jelly... yes, it’s sweet too—just like regular jelly.
By the way, it’s actually surprisingly delicious; at least I didn’t taste the beer right away. Since it’s cooked just like regular jelly, most of the alcohol has evaporated...

It definitely gets a thumbs-up from me.
I do think, though, that the result will vary greatly depending on the beer you use…
Since my base was already quite sweet, I cooked it with 3:1 gelling sugar, by the way.

Oh, and we’re adding vanilla and cinnamon to the jelly too...

I started my new project last night. The spring-like colors of the chenille yarn were so inviting that I said, “Okay, come downstairs with me—you’re going to become a cozy poncho sweater.”
Since it’s cotton chenille, it’s also great for spring and cool summer evenings.
I think the poncho sweater is going to turn out great!

I think all your projects are great.

My tablecloth is coming along nicely.
Yesterday I finished the second color change of my Bobbel, and I’m currently on “round” 35.
I find it funny to talk about “rounds” since the tablecloth is going to be square.

@Fun-Design Thank you for the info. It definitely sounds exciting. With cinnamon—maybe also wintry? Christmassy? You're always looking for something special as a small gift.

Good morning

Mel, I’m really excited to see your poncho sweater. Are you making another one of those great cable patterns?

I can now show you my doll’s new pants, too.
Made from Monika’s pattern; I made them shorter and knitted the matching pattern to go with the Schlüttli.

I’m already excited to see your poncho sweater, Mel.
And Marlene, I’m also curious to see your blanket once it’s finished.

Marion, your little one looks sooo cute in that outfit. She’s just begging to be hugged.

I’ve actually already finished the sleeping bag for my little star. I was hard at work last night and this morning, too. Now I just have to sew on the buttons and weave in the ends. I’ll write up the pattern for that, too.

This is what the sleeping bag looks like right now. My little star looks absolutely adorable in it. Once it’s finished, I’ll show you a picture of her lying inside it.

Monika, I like your sleeping bag. I also think Sternchen looks cute in it. The colors go perfectly with her blue eyes.

Did you use the same pattern? It matches well.

Mel, I’m excited to see your pincho. What’s the chenille like to work with?
Marlene, your tablecloth is coming along really well!
And Marion and Monika, I see you’re caught up in doll fever. They’re going to be so stylishly outfitted!

Marion, it’s the pattern you used for the suit. I was planning to use that for the sleeping bag anyway.

Ida, yes, I’m actually in the middle of a doll craze. It’s so much fun to dress up the little one—everything looks really good on her, without exception. And this way, I get to put my leftover balls of yarn to good use, too.

My granddaughter will unwrap her package on Tuesday. I’m already curious to see what she’ll say about the outfit. After all, she shares a birthday with me. :)

Ida, the chenille yarn (Nerissa by Louisa Harding) is gorgeous! (Here’s a picture of the beginning.) It’s wonderfully soft and easy to knit with. It doesn’t shed fluff at all and even survived unraveling the gauge swatch perfectly. But it’s 100% cotton, which might be what sets it apart from acrylic chenille yarns that often shed fluff.

Petra, there’s just a little cinnamon in there… since I love using cinnamon all year round, I don’t necessarily think of it as a Christmas thing…
apple cake with cinnamon, sweet potatoes with cinnamon butter… chai latte… I love cinnamon.
