Romantic, Feminine, Ruffles, Pastels, Fringe, and Tassels

For new and leftover hippies alike (you know, the ones with flowers in their hair), this summery cotton scarf is just right; it’s remarkable because it is both knitted and crocheted. An extraordinary accessory for extraordinary people.

You can find the pattern here.

Romantic, Feminine, Ruffles, Pastels, Fringe, and Tassels

Romantic and a little old-fashioned, this crocheted shawl features a lace pattern and a ruffled edge. It always reminds me a bit of the good old days, back when ladies still wore lace collars. Well, I don’t know whether those times were really that good, that’s just what people say. In any case, the shawl is a reminiscence of that time.

The pattern can be found here.

Download exciting designs: striped, patterned, dotted, checked, with waves and stars

The waves in this braided bracelet just happen naturally. It’s knitted from cotton scraps. I don’t want to give too much away—but you can make this, too!

Here is the pattern.

You can discover lots and lots of dots on this scarf. But I have to warn you, it’s not exactly easy because it is knitted using the double-face technique. That means the colors are mirrored on the opposite sides.
There are several different dot motifs here, all shown in knitting charts. For materials, you’ll need yarn with a yardage of 150 m per 50 g in two different colors and 3 mm knitting needles.

You can find the pattern here.

First names for stitches :-) That would be a nice idea for a forum game :-)

Yellow and Orange: More Sunshine // Download Sunny Designs

You can knit pot holders in every color imaginable. In yellow, they bring sunshine into the kitchen. All you need is cotton yarn and matching knitting needles. The pattern is simple. You should know how to do knit and purl stitches.

Yellow and Orange: More Sunshine // Download Sunny Designs

A shopping bag in sunny colors lifts your spirits—that much is certain. And if you make it yourself, you’ll get double the joy: first while knitting, and then while shopping.

You can read more about it here.

So far, 0 :-) Yesterday I finished a shawl; now I just have to weave in the ends and block it, and then I might get back to working on my sleeveless top. Would a rough estimate of the number of stitches be okay too?

Which techniques do you find really difficult or complicated?

I don’t really find anything that difficult. Basically, with all needlework techniques, the main thing is simply to do them. Some techniques require more concentration than others.
What I personally don’t really like to knit are bobbles. I find they’re easiest to do with a crochet hook, but they’re still the fiddliest stitch I know.

How are you? What are you up to? How's the weather?

For a change, the weekend was very relaxing. There’s a thunderstorm raging outside right now. So I figured I’d put off my shopping until tomorrow and just laze around for a bit :-)

Advanced: Download new, challenging patterns

Not exactly for beginners ... so you should know how to knit lace patterns for this scarf. But you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful piece that can be worn as a wide scarf or as a shoulder shawl. Its charm comes from a sea of flowers that runs along its entire length.

You can find the pattern here.

Using Up Leftover Yarn: Last-Minute Mother's Day and Long Weekend

If you’re not quite sure how to wrap those diamonds for Mom, we’ve got you covered. A little knitted pouch is perfect for the job. A few leftover bits of sock yarn (preferably one of them red), a set of double-pointed needles, and you’re all set. You’ll easily have time to finish it before Mother’s Day.

You can find the pattern here.

What do your friends and family think of your hobby?

My family and friends are very supportive of it now, even though at first there were some who gave me that funny smile—as if they didn’t take it all very seriously :-)
The reaction to my professional work has also changed over time. I have one friend who’s really jealous. And my husband now sees it in a different light, too, after initially thinking it was all just a crazy idea. I feel much the same way as Ursulapetra—he doesn’t quite understand why anyone would spend money on “something like that.”

These little pouches are knitted from colorful leftover sock yarn. If you know how to knit in the round, you can make these too.

Beginner Patterns: Easy to Follow / Stunning Designs

You won’t get by with leftover yarn alone here, but this knitted triangle shawl is still absolutely suitable for beginners. All you need to know for it is the knit stitch. Personally, I like the shawl best in sock yarn, but you can easily use other yarns as well.

Here’s the pattern.
