Crocheting nativity figures is a contemplative and creative activity during the Advent season. Here you can really let your creativity run free and use up small colorful bits of leftover yarn at the same time.
One figure each day—and then you'll have a beautiful, unique nativity scene. By the way, these nativity figures also won't mind if little children want to play with them! You can decide for yourself how many figures you want to crochet.
It's best to start with the
Holy Family
This set includes the patterns for Mary, Joseph, the Christ Child in the manger, the poinsettia, as well as the ox and donkey.
That gives you a basic set of figures to display. If you still have time and feel like it, you can expand the nativity scene however you like, e.g. with the
Shepherd scene.
Here you get the patterns for the Angel of the Annunciation, 3 different shepherds, and 2 different sheep.
And later you can add the
Three Wise Men
as well: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar with their gifts and their pack animals—camel, elephant, and horse.
The nativity figures are about 10 cm tall. For each figure, I noted which yarn and how much of it I used. That way you can compare it with your stash and choose a suitable yarn. This is how your very own, one-of-a-kind nativity scene is created, and it is sure to find many admirers.
I hope you have lots of fun crocheting. It's best to get started today!
