☞ Question of the Week: What do you fill your Advent calendars with?

Dear CP users and CP authors,
Christmas is just around the corner, so it’s only natural to start thinking about Advent calendars. After all, you’ll need to buy—or crochet, sew, knit, knook, craft, or embroider—one by December 1.
And then, of course, you’ll need to fill it and hang it up or drape it nicely.
What do you put inside?

Feel free to share what kinds of Advent calendars you used to have, which ones you have now, which ones you really love, and which ones you’re not so crazy about.

P.S. If you’d still like an Advent calendar, just check out this thread or the shop.

With chocolate, Surprise Eggs for the kids, Bayern lottery tickets, perfume sample packs, mini toys, gummy bears—I just mix together whatever I happen to find at the store so there’s something for everyone in the family :-)

Hi,

we only have an Advent calendar for the child, so what we can put in it is limited to child-friendly things :-)
Chocolate, Lego, pens, etc.

Best regards, Marion

I fill my kids’ Advent calendars with little things (chocolate, rubber bands, stamps, hair ties and clips, stickers, erasers...).
Best regards,
Karin

Our Advent calendar for the kids is filled with little treats: Surprise Eggs, gummy bears, Fritt, Mini-Knoppas, Mamba, etc.—a colorful mix of chocolate, wine gums, and chewy candies. :)

My friend Andrea loves to sew and enjoys my crafts. That’s why she received 24 little hand-folded packages filled with creative goodies. See for yourself:

Now you're probably thinking, “Ina's friend is so lucky—such beautiful things.” Yes, my dear friend Andrea often surprises me with something special too: last year she gave me an Advent calendar with homemade cookies and vintage Christmas decorations from the flea market. She had arranged everything in a hatbox. There's so much love in it all; that's the most important thing about any homemade Advent calendar.

Hi, Advent calendars aren’t just for little kids—my daughters, who are 25 and 27, still insist on self-filled Advent calendars, and we put in whatever is needed at the time.
So sometimes tools have even ended up in the Advent calendar.
Otherwise, for girls, it’s simply hair clips, earrings, etc.—yes, even underwear and stockings are welcome with my girls. Candy makes an appearance now and then, too.
Back when the two of them were younger, there was always something for coloring and crafts!
Vouchers for game night, craft time, movie afternoons, and so on have also found their way into the Advent calendar.
It’s just nice to put some thought into the recipient—I think that’s the most important thing!

I really like chocolate, but in my opinion, the chocolate from store-bought Advent calendars is always very chewy and dry. For this year, I’ve come up with the idea of a tea Advent calendar—a new type of tea to try every day. Of course, I bought that one, too.

The Advent calendar for the friend who sews is truly wonderful.

I was actually planning to lose a little weight, but this might not be the best time of year for that.

Just chocolate or a few little things.

A few days ago, I saw an ad for Advent calendars for couples on special offer.
Can ideas like that also be used in the DIY sector? Is it okay to post links here? I have no personal connection to this shop.
Sunny greetings
Sidney

Back when I used to fill Advent calendars… a long time ago—there were all sorts of little things like toy cars, erasers, Lego, Playmobil, and the like… and when at some point those little items became unnecessary because there were too many of them, I used puzzles—I’d put one together once and then distribute connected sections of it (after taking it apart again, of course) among the 24 little bags.

Then the kids got to do the puzzle without a reference picture.
That was a nice idea.
And when that was no longer popular, there were only chocolate calendars. ;)

@Sidney,
that can certainly be linked to. It’s probably too late for this year, but there’s still plenty of time until next Advent to put partner ideas into practice.

I don’t fill mine at all—I prefer 100g bars of chocolate, and not just one per week.
