Hello to all readers and authors here in the Crazypatterns forum,
especially for children, Advent would be sad, gray, and dreary without a pretty Advent calendar. There’s hardly anything more exciting for children than the anticipation of Christmas, which builds step by step as they open a little door or bag every day during Advent leading up to the 24th. But there are also plenty of adults who wouldn’t want to miss out on an Advent calendar for anything in the world.

Here on CP, we have lots of wonderful Advent calendar patterns. If you’d like to make one—or even several—of these to keep for yourself or give as gifts, you should start now so you’ll have enough time to fill them. Advent calendars also always make wonderful decorations.

@Contributors / Authors
Each of you can post up to two Advent calendar patterns in this thread. Please include a good photo, at least four lines of text, and information about the craft technique used, the materials, the difficulty level, and, of course, why readers should make your Advent calendar in particular.

I wish all of you—and especially the children whose Advent will be made even more special by the CP Advent calendars—a wonderful Advent season.

This Advent calendar consists of 12 pairs of baby socks that you can knit from leftover yarn. What makes it special is that you can use the socks afterward. It makes a great gift for an expectant mother (filled with various little things for mother and baby).
The socks are quick to knit and suitable even for beginners, since they are knitted using just two needles.

A slightly different kind of Advent calendar.
The angel’s dress can be filled with small gifts.

You can choose to use numbers or leave them out—whichever you prefer.

The angel is very large and makes quite an impression. With pretty tea lights (battery-operated) and artificial snow, you can create a wonderful decoration or eye-catcher.

The pattern includes several variations, e.g., an angel with real hair and with crocheted hair.

Perfect for beginners.

Quite a bit of chocolate would fit into the Advent calendar with the little socks.

This colorful Advent calendar is guaranteed to bring a joyful pre-Christmas season to your children, grandchildren, or your best friend. The little colorful pouches are quickly crocheted from leftover yarn. You could arrange them on a tray with festive decorations or hang them on a coat hanger. This way, the Advent calendar can be hung anywhere or given away already filled.

You’ll receive a detailed, illustrated 20-page step-by-step pattern that’s suitable even for crochet beginners. The printable template for the red Christmas stars with the numbers 1 - 24 is included.

This Advent calendar in the form of a small wall hanging will bring you joy year after year. You can either crochet or knit the little pockets, depending on your preference and skill level. It is crocheted in one piece, and thanks to a trick, the pockets are always lined up exactly above and next to each other. There is room for a small sweet treat and a rolled-up voucher. The print templates for the numbers 1 - 24 as well as the little vouchers are included.

How about an Advent calendar made of ice skates?

It’s not only a beautiful decoration, but also makes children’s hearts beat faster. They’re a special eye-catcher on an old sled, skis, or in a frosted window. The ice skates are easy to crochet with leftover yarn and can be filled individually.

Have fun crocheting and decorating.

I make Advent calendars from cardstock, for example this one:

Since this calendar consists of many individual compartments that are glued together, you need to work very carefully. The calendar is very sturdy and can be reused many times, so the effort involved in making it is definitely worth it. Templates for it are available here .

The Advent calendar below can also be made easily by craft beginners. However, since it also consists of 24 individual compartments, you should start crafting early enough. Templates for it are available here .

My daughters love homemade Advent calendars filled with little gifts—
here’s a really unique idea:
each little animal has room in its belly for a gift.
You can mix and match the animals, or—
if the work is too much—just hang a few little packages in between!
If you want, you can also use the animal as gift wrapping for a present!
There are so many possibilities!!!!
8 animals are finished, but a few are still in the works

You can find the patterns here in my shop:

Dadade wishes everyone a wonderful, stress-free holiday season

I always knitted the little socks for this Advent calendar in pairs so they can keep a baby's feet warm after Christmas. You can use up all your leftover yarn for them. You can hang the little socks on a cord with small clips or on a branch and fill them with all kinds of treats.

Knitting the socks for the Advent calendar in pairs is a good idea. 24 divided by 2 is 12—logical—but 12 different patterns still provide enough variety so that the sock pattern doesn’t get monotonous. Once the socks are hung up, they’ll definitely look great as Advent decorations, too.

Advent calendar “St. Nicholas bags”
Every day during Advent, not only children look forward to it. With shining eyes, you open the next door of the Advent calendar. But it doesn’t always have to be a paper calendar with chocolate. The little bags can be placed in a bowl, for example, or hung on an artificial fir garland. You can then attach the garland to the stair railing or around the door frame, which also brings Christmas spirit into the house right away. The pattern also includes 6 different versions of tags. Simply print them on thicker paper or cardstock and cut them out. The little bags can also be used as packaging for smaller gifts, so the pattern can be used all year round.

Advent calendar “Gnome” + bag “Gnome”Gnomes are simply a must during the Christmas season. The small bags are perfect for use as an Advent calendar, size approx. 10 x 12 cm.
But they’re not just for hiding small gifts during the Christmas season—why not hand each little guest a filled little bag at a children’s birthday party, for example? I’m sure all the children’s eyes will light up.The large bag is a great handbag for little ladies and is sure to attract lots of attention.
The size is approx. 20 x 25 cm.

With these crocheted pouches, an Advent calendar is quick and easy to make.  The little bags can be made in endless color combinations, which is also a great way to use up leftover yarn.
