Hello everyone,
everyone is probably familiar with this: there are always bits of leftover yarn in the yarn basket that are too good to throw away, but not enough to make anything larger with.
That’s why this thread gives you the opportunity to discover patterns that are well suited for leftover yarn. Have fun
.

@Providers + Authors
You probably have patterns that can be made well with leftover yarn. Please introduce them here. Two patterns per author, each with a link, image, and at least four lines of text. Please also mention what type of craft it is and how much leftover yarn you need at minimum.
Have fun.

Whether as a bag charm, keychain, or small gift, the Wuschelinis want to be part of everything—whether as jungle animals, fresh from the farm, or from Christmas land. The illustrated pattern is also suitable for beginners. In addition to basic crochet skills, working with a knitting spool is also part of the pattern. A description of the procedure is included in the pattern. An alternative without using a knitting spool is also provided.

The Wuschelinis are also perfect for using up leftover yarn! Required materials: crochet hook size 3.00
knitting spool cotton yarn (100% cotton) stuffing For the eyes: googly eyes for sewing on or gluing on.

So grab your hook quickly and dig out the knitting spool again.

You can find the patterns at: https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/store/ErnstWuschel

Help, what should I do with all my leftover yarn in the cupboard?
Here you have the opportunity to turn leftover yarn of all kinds into really pretty slippers.
The slippers are crocheted with multiple strands. That makes them nice and warm, and in bright, colorful shades they look fun too.

You can also make something very beautiful and useful with leftover sock yarn.
The crocheted hot water bottle cover not only protects against hot water bottles that are too hot. No, it covers the hot water bottle, keeps it warm for longer, and is nice and cosy too.

Autumn is hat season...!
And winter will soon be here too.
So for the gloomy, cold, and foggy autumn days, I have various hat patterns for you that are especially suitable for using up leftover yarn. Because you can use lots of different colors here, creating wonderful colorful hats during the gray season...simply great for bringing a little more color back into your day.

Here is my first suggestion for you...the Buam No4...a cool hat for cool boys...but of course also suitable for girls

To the pattern: [please click]

My second suggestion is in green and purple. However, lots of different colors can also be wonderfully combined here. For example, each row can be made in a different color.

I’m happy about every visitor to my shop. Just stop by and take a look; maybe there’s something there for you. I hope you have a lovely day.

How long does a piece of leftover yarn have to be for you to still be able to do something with it without having to throw it away? Is half a meter enough? I’d like to know where the line is for throwing it away.

For my wall clock “Owl Magic,” you’ll need scraps of cotton yarn in weight 2.5–3.5 (e.g., Schachenmayr Catania) in various colors.
With the detailed pattern, you can quickly create a colorful, cheerful clock! Ideal as a small gift to bring along or as a present, for example!
In my shop, the clock and the appliqués for owls and hedgehogs are also available to buy separately, so everyone can design their very own individual clock!

A great shawl that can be made in a single color or using lots of leftover yarn is my “Auenland” shawl.
It’s sure to look great when the garter stitch ridges between the flower pattern are worked in different leftover yarns!

The pattern is written in an easy-to-understand way and includes both knitting charts and a written version. The pattern is easy to remember, so you can comfortably knit this shawl while watching TV. ☺

The Kontiplaso scarf is great for using up leftover yarn. If you have lots of solid-colored
leftovers from knitting socks, each stripe can be knitted in a different color, giving you a wonderfully colorful scarf. The scarf is easy to knit because it consists of many knit and purl rows. In between, a lace row is knitted each time, which is very memorable and can quickly be knitted from memory.

A very simple crochet pattern for a scarf, collar, neck warmer, neckerchief, roll-neck collar, or loop scarf for beginners by oksik. It’s crocheted in one piece using only single crochet stitches, without any complicated decreases or increases anywhere. The finished neck warmer has a simple geometric shape, but thanks to the unique ribbed pattern, this crocheted scarf still holds its shape beautifully and the collar fits nicely. A crocheted scarf like this makes a perfect Christmas gift and is also suitable for men or children. There are also several ways to wear it. If you like, you can embellish this scarf with a button or a flower, or crochet it in multiple colors. This crochet pattern is therefore perfect for using up leftover yarn.

I love crochet flowers — do you too? My crochet book is full of patterns for
unique crochet flowers that I designed myself. It also includes patterns
for crochet leaves, crochet tips, and a pattern for a simple infinity scarf.
The book is very affordable and full of ideas. The leftover yarn in your basket
won’t be there much longer! The book (61 pages) is available at a really affordable
price in my shop. Lots of pictures of the flowers and work-in-progress photos make
crocheting easier.

This crochet pattern for a bow and a headband offers a variety of ways to express your creativity. These bows are perfect for attaching to Christmas gifts or crocheting a stylish bow tie for your loved one. You can use them to embellish a hat, bag, or sweater—even basic pieces become a real eye-catcher with a bow like this. Little girls love wearing hair clips or hair accessories with bows. The nice bonus is that you can use up your leftover yarn while creating something beautiful.

For all cat fans and dog lovers. A cute way to use up leftover yarn. As a keyring or bag charm.
10 - 20 g of leftover wool/yarn, the right crochet hook (2-3), a little stuffing and, if you like, two small eyes if you don't want to embroider them. Chain stitches, single crochet, increases and decreases. Then the charm is almost finished :-) Anyone who has crocheted from time to time will enjoy making the cat and/or the dog.

A detailed, illustrated e-book (14 pages) guides you through 11 different patterns. It explains step by step how to make the decorative egg.

Sock Knitting Course for 4-ply yarn, using newborn baby socks

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This is an illustrated sock knitting course using baby socks size 15 knitted from 4-ply sock yarn and consists of a total of 4 PDF files:

  • Main pattern
  • handwritten sketches
  • baby sock chart for sizes 15–20
  • sock chart for sizes 22–47.

Also included is a brief baby mitten pattern, since parts of the baby sock pattern can be used for it.

Don’t be intimidated! It is harder to describe the process than to knit the socks.

Materials needed:
approx. 15 g 4-ply sock yarn for the baby socks, approx. 10 g 4-ply sock yarn for the baby mittens, for adult socks up to size 44: 100 g sock yarn; if larger, 150 g is required. Set of double-pointed needles size 2.5, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle.

The baby socks can, for example, also be embroidered and used in various ways—not only as baby socks— e.g. as “packaging” for money gifts or sweets, as an Advent calendar, as a keychain (it looks prettier when made proportionally smaller), and more.

Another wonderful way to use up leftovers is this

Knitting pattern for preemie socks/baby/doll socks/keychain..

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Sweet preemie socks for a total foot length from 4.5 cm can also be used as doll socks or keychains or as money-gift packaging, or even to decorate a Christmas tree – there are no limits to your imagination..

The PDF pattern in combination with the sock chart can be used for additional sock sizes up to shoe size 20.

The download includes 4 files:

  • PDF preemie sock chart up to size 20 for baby socks
  • PDF pattern for the individual preemie socks, 4.5 cm to 7.5 cm total foot length (23 pages incl. pictures)
  • Detailed illustrated PDF pattern explaining the principle (using newborn socks –17 pages)
  • PDF handwritten sketches (using a newborn sock – 2 pages)

General knitting skills (as well as knitting stitches together) are sufficient.

Required materials for 1 pair of socks up to newborn size: approx. 10 g 4-ply sock yarn, or leftover yarn. You will also need a set of double-pointed needles size 2.5, measuring tape, scissors, a yarn needle for weaving in ends, and possibly a key ring.

Have fun knitting up your little leftover yarn bits!

Konrei is a bracelet made up of several identical parts.
A circle is crocheted from a magic ring, chain stitches, slip stitches, and double crochet stitches.

The one-page PDF file contains a written-out pattern.

The material needed for the bracelet (16.5 cm long) is approx. 5 grams of size 10 filet crochet thread.

To the pattern: *click*

Granny Squares can also be knitted, as the two models show.
The grannies are worked from a knitting chart, with the symbols also explained in writing.
Both squares require a total of 7 g of yarn for needle size 3.
Experience with lace knitting is helpful.

Felt yarn and merino yarn were knitted and crocheted together here for little doll shoes.

For this triangular shawl, I crocheted 400 grams of all kinds of different yarns. I also used the smaller leftover yarn scraps and always joined the yarns with the Frankfurter knot. That meant there wasn’t much weaving in to do, and my leftover-yarn jar was empty very quickly.
