Oh dear, so you don’t live in such a quiet place after all. Now I can understand your trips even better. Yes, as I said, there are two sides to everything. And the beautiful summer is already very short up there. You can enjoy it longer here.

Ruth, you always make such beautiful things with those little leftovers. I can totally understand why the amount stays manageable. I can easily imagine that your granddaughter was thrilled. I’m also already thinking about a few smaller projects that can be made with leftovers. I just gave away two drawers full because there’s no way I’ll ever use up this yarn. But I’m sure I’ll find a use for everything else.

I’m happy for you, Andrea. I’ve had to move so many times in my life and let go of so much that I’m all the more delighted to have lived in the same town and on the same street for 21 years now. That’s an absolute record for me. But I’ve never lived abroad before. In any case, I wish you a joyful arrival. Just enjoy the beautiful nature in Norway for now and take a few farewell photos. You won’t be able to do that later.

I highly recommend this to all fans of quick summer recipes. Today I made the chocolate mousse ice cream—it turned out great after just 1 hour in the freezer.

You can knit with cotton even on hot days. If you have a doll or know a little doll mum, you might like the following patterns—they could be just the thing right now. They fit dolls measuring about 43–50 cm, as well as premature babies. Leftover yarn is more than enough for these projects.

Inge, that’s a great idea. I used to sew clothes for my son out of my old, discarded clothes, too.

I’m still knitting my jacket. It’ll definitely be finished in June. Next up are homes for squirrels in need of care again.

That’s a very nice gift, Inge. Something really special.

This colorful little raglan dress will bring you joy while knitting it—and just as much when you give it as a gift. It is knitted as a top-down raglan with a pretty cable pattern, followed by colorful stripes in the skirt. Your child or grandchild will look adorable in it.

Yeah, I always try things on as I go, or I grab one of my RVO pieces and take the measurements. That usually works out pretty well.

maybe it’ll cheer you up to hear that we’re having April weather and it’s only 12 degrees—in southern Germany! We keep getting heavy showers, and even some hail mixed in. Some of the fields are already flooded.

For me, that means I have plenty of time to work on the computer and make myself comfortable at home.

Andrea, I’ve actually used acrylic yarn to knit some of the doll clothes. The new little dress is knitted with 160 m of yarn, and quite a few other things as well. But I’ve also used some with about 120–125 m of yarn—cotton yarn. I prefer cotton or blended yarn with cotton for knitting and crocheting.

Today, for the first time in ages, I went cycling again—at Lake Chiemsee. I was so blown away that I completely forgot to take pictures. With 16 degrees and sunshine, it was a dream. The day somehow went by way too fast. It’s going to be pretty chilly here over the next few days, too—unfortunately. Summer peeked in for a brief moment—and then it was gone again.

Let’s just keep looking forward to the nice days. They’ll definitely be here soon.
In the meantime, we’ll keep ourselves entertained with yarn and needles.

Thanks for the lovely photos, Inge. I love the Rhön, too, because I was born there—in Fulda. We used to go on Sunday trips out into the countryside there often. When I was 11, I unfortunately moved to northern Germany and really missed the mountains. Back then, I felt just like Heidi in the movie.

My yarn is doing great—it’s deeply loved and looking forward to being worked up. After stocking up twice—and I mean really stocking up—I’m all set for a few more months.

It’s really nice to have a creative hobby like this. My mom also sewed and designed her entire wardrobe all by herself. As a kid, I always “had” to wear the clothes she sewed and knitted herself, and as a teenager, I didn’t find it funny at all. But today, I can’t help but admire her. Her sewing machine was her whole world, and she was totally happy and in her element.

A few years ago, blackbirds nested on our balcony. We even sat there, and they didn’t mind at all. They were so clean that the umbrella we’d set up under the nest didn’t get dirty. It was so sweet to watch it all up close.

Petra, unfortunately, we don’t have a craft store nearby. So I have to rely on the internet. But I actually like it quite a bit. The color selection at Drops is huge. Algawo.de carries all the varieties, and you can also see which colors are in stock there. That’s my favorite shop because the shipping is fast, too.

The little dress is knitted with Drops Safran. Now it’s finished except for one appliqué, and the colors are beautifully vibrant. Here’s the new photo:

Yeah, the males sure are rough with them. Wow, and he even has four ladies to choose from. Who knows, maybe we’ll end up with some little tortoises after all. They’re sooo cute when they’re small. I once had one on my hand.
