I'm still on time—happy birthday!

It’s been so long. But the first day of school was really exciting :-)

Since this knitted stole has a large-scale brioche pattern, color gradients really stand out here. Knitted in cotton yarn, this shawl is a wonderful companion for cool summer nights.

And then I found a few skeins of cotton in my stash. It’s not neglected yarn, because I knew right away what I was going to make from it as soon as I saw it. I crocheted a few potholders from it.

Not much has changed in my Top 3, except that number 1 is slowly pulling ahead of the others. So, number 1:

So far, I’ve really only worked with silk-blend yarns—that is, cotton with silk or wool with silk in all sorts of variations. I’ve noticed that these yarns often have very different properties; sometimes they’re rather brittle, while other times they’re very pleasantly soft. They can also be quite warm. I’d describe artificial silk—that is, viscose—as a typical summer yarn.

These potholders are quick to knit on the side. Of course, there are no limits to the summery color choices.
For this, you’ll need cotton yarn (yardage approx. 69 m/50 g) and knitting needles that are a little thinner than recommended for the yarn, so you get a nicely dense stitch pattern. The pattern is simple; it consists only of knit and purl stitches.

Basically, the pattern can also be expanded very easily to make a wider stole from it. In that case, though, you should plan on using considerably more yarn.
