Kick off the new week with energy

And if your boss catches you crafting under your desk—you’re definitely allowed to do it during your lunch break! A small pot holder is perfect for a quick project on the side.

You can find the pattern here.

Made with colorful cotton, it makes a gray workday more bearable and is also very easy to knit. Knit stitches and purl stitches—that’s all it takes. And a small scrap of cotton, of course.

Kick off the new week with energy

Also a project that can be hidden under your desk :-)

A crocheted scarf with fringe.

Easy to crochet, and with thick yarn it’s finished in a flash. One workday is enough.

Kick off the new week with energy

If Monday is a workday for you, I have a shawl here that you can also knit on the bus or train on your way to work. Or even under your desk—you don't have to tell your boss that was my idea.

Here’s the pattern.

The shawl is very easy to knit and still very striking with its attractive pointed edging. You can use whatever yarn you feel like, and the size is entirely up to you, too. When you run out of yarn, or just don’t feel like continuing, you simply stop.

Happy

Sitting in the garden, happy and content, listening to the birds and knitting a shawl—what could be better?

Triangular shawl with a scalloped edge.

The pattern is easy; the shawl basically consists only of knit stitches. It includes a few unusual increases, which then form the edge.
The shawl can be knitted in any yarn and any size.

New Knitting Patterns in July

If you’re looking for a relaxing and beautiful triangular shawl, we’ve got you covered :-)

Take a look at this.

The shawl is knitted from the bottom tip upward, and you can use any type of yarn. The pattern works with all yarn weights.  This shawl is easy to knit; you just have to pay a little attention to the edges, but you’ll get the hang of it quickly.

Wool from Ireland?

Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about Irish wool :-(
I just know from a friend in England that English wool is apparently terrible because most sheep are raised for meat rather than wool, and apparently that’s a separate breed whose wool is very scratchy. But it’s possible that things are completely different in Ireland.

Finding Comfort for the Soul

When life gets turbulent, it’s comforting to have knitting needles to hold onto. A simple, meditative pattern helps immensely.

How about an infinity scarf?

Knitted with thick yarn, this is a project that comes together very quickly. It takes about as long as it takes for the clouds to clear again. The pattern is simple—you just need to know how to knit and purl.

More Exciting Than a Bedtime Mystery

It’s incredibly exciting because no two rounds are alike. A lightweight hat in a lace pattern—varied and full of surprises—a knitting thriller :-)

You can find the pattern here.

Don’t let that put you off—that was just sensationalist advertising language :-) The hat certainly isn’t difficult, but it does require a bit of attention. It’s worked in sock yarn; you’ll need 150–170 m, depending on the size.
The pattern is available in two sizes, written out in full and also shown in a knitting chart.

Finding Comfort for the Soul

A shawl to snuggle up in is always useful. Especially when your soul has taken a bit of a scratch.

Take a look.

This is a rectangular stole that is knitted in a simple lace and cable pattern. Use a soft yarn for it, and it will become a wonderful shoulder warmer.
The pattern is written out row by row and also shown in knitting charts.

Finding Comfort for the Soul

When things aren’t going so well, cheerful colors work wonders for me. Maybe you’d like to knit a few colorful pot holders?

You can find the pattern here.

For one of them, all you really need is some leftover cotton, preferably a thicker yarn, and no special skills. Knit and purl stitches are all you need. You’ll have a quick sense of achievement.

Happy Weekend

If you’d like to get ready for fall, you can do so with a knitted scarf.

Since the scarf is knitted from sock yarn, it doesn’t feel heavy in your hands in warm weather and, once finished, is also a soft accessory that drapes nicely. The pattern is a simple rib and lace pattern.

Happy Weekend

One lovely project is this unique crochet scarf, which can easily be finished over the weekend using thick yarn.

You can find the pattern here.

The pattern is simple, and the result is very striking.

Happy Weekend

At the weekend, you also have time to tackle slightly more complicated patterns. Not that it’s difficult — you get into it quickly — but this lace stole does take some time to finish.

You can find the pattern here.

My original was knitted from pure merino wool, but basically any yarn can be used. Some people have already knitted the stole in cotton as well.
The pattern is written out row by row and is also shown in a knitting chart.

Cozy Blanket – What Material?

Something that feels nice and isn’t too heavy. Cashmere would definitely be an option, especially since it’s a milestone birthday.
A relative who works at a nursing home once gave me this tip: when making something for older people, patterns with a bit of “texture”—something you can feel—work well. As eyesight declines, people often use their hands to orient themselves.

What have you been crafting today?

I haven’t done anything today yet. Yesterday I dug out a blanket once again that I’ve been knitting for what feels like an eternity.
