If you look at the posts in the sewing subforum, you’ll notice that there isn’t a huge selection there.
But there are some wonderful sewing patterns in the shop. And we actually do have quite a few users here who ask every now and then how sewing works, but it’s just not a huge crowd.
But I mean, everyone needs basic skills like hemming or sewing buttons back on, right?
It just occurred to me while I was writing my

—that’s also something you should teach kids.
How do you guys actually handle it when you have something that needs sewing? Throw it away, buy a new one, or just fix it up with a needle and thread or a sewing machine?
I have a few sewing patterns for sale in my shop. The bag is selling pretty well, but the other items aren’t doing so great. On Dawa… (I’m not sure if I’m allowed to spell it out here) sewing patterns do better. I haven’t gotten around to writing a pattern for sewing on buttons and shortening pants yet—it might be a gap in the market, but I think beginners would rather take an in-person sewing class; it’s easier to understand that way. Anyway, I’m currently working on some Christmas blankets, which I’ll list here as well.
@cadiylu,
As far as I can remember, I haven’t welcomed you to the forum and the site yet. So: welcome, have fun, and of course lots of success.
Of course you may spell out dawanda; we’re not that strict here.
Patterns for sewing on buttons, shortening trousers, stitching down hems or trouser pockets - I think that could be a great addition to the range on Crazypatterns.
If someone nowadays, or in 2015, has questions about sewing, where do they go, especially for such “little things”? I’d ask Google. People google absolutely everything these days. Of course there are already good sewing tips on the internet, but you have to search for them laboriously. If users here on CP see that, besides the ever-popular crochet patterns and knitting patterns, there are also sewing patterns, especially covering the basics of sewing, I can easily imagine that they would buy or read them. I’m sure you know the phenomenon: you go into a shop because you need something specific, and then you discover two or three more things you hadn’t thought of at all, but because they’re there, look good, and remind you that you need something in that area, you’re happy to take them with you or buy them. Maybe you’d simply like to give it a try.
Thanks, Josefa, for your kind wishes. I’ve really hardly been seen on the forum. I’ll think about the idea of patterns for sewing beginners—maybe after Christmas.
Hi everyone,
Well, I have to tell you that I got into sewing through crazypatterns. I’d be thrilled to see more sewing patterns, including for older children, since mine are now sizes 146 and 152. The selection there isn’t nearly as large as it is for the smaller sizes.
Best regards
Petra
