Hi, I just took another look at the newsletters I still had saved. I noticed the following:
In the newsletter from August 12, 2015, I had already seen the Minions in a newsletter a few days earlier, and the sneakers that look like Chucks had also been included several times before. In the newsletter from August 14, 2015, the little sheep had already been in an August newsletter, the pink and purple ballerina flats were already in the newsletter on August 12, and the door wreath was also included on August 12. On August 16, 2015, the ballerina flats were included yet again, along with many patterns that had already been promoted in recent weeks, and the sheep were there again too.
The newsletter from August 20, 2015 again included lots of shoes and socks that had already been in various August newsletters; somehow you don’t really see any new products.
And the ballerina flats are in there again too.
Just a few examples from the August newsletters... I simply find them boring. And sometimes the items don’t go together at all.
I’ll go ahead and give it a try too...
I’ve been paying close attention to this—personally, I think there’s a bit too much focus on crochet patterns. I’d like to see a few more knitting patterns. While there are always a few included in the newsletters, crochet generally makes up the majority. This is also the case on the homepage, where crochet content clearly dominates.
I would be in favor of specialized newsletters. You specify your interests (crochet, knitting, or sewing...) and then receive newsletters tailored to those interests. This will certainly involve some programming effort, but in the long run, I think it’s a good idea.
I have a different opinion when it comes to Christmas patterns in “summer.” June or July is too early (I’m busy with fall decorations and Oktoberfest), but in mid- to late August or September, I’d definitely look forward to Christmas newsletters and inspiration. Especially in the DIY area, you also have to allow enough time to finish things. And since the weather (at least where we are) is already quite rainy and gloomy again, and I light candles in the evening to make things cozy, I’m definitely already thinking about what my Christmas decorations will look like this year.
I received a new newsletter yesterday, this time on the topic of “scarves and shawls,” and I liked it very much (even though none of my shawls were included, but that doesn’t matter; they were probably chosen at random).
I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all to make newsletters directly theme-based, for example by adapting them to the season and then selecting matching designs.
If the subject line already mentions something like “shawls,” then people who are interested will click through much more selectively.
I think it would be great if, as an author, you could find out in advance what the topic of the new newsletter will be. It worked that way recently, after all. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quick enough. Too bad!!!!!!!!
Maybe you could always share this information. That way, newcomers would also have a better chance to prepare and might at least be mentioned.
Thank you
Best regards, Dorigurumi
I really don’t know what all of you are complaining about. I think the newsletter is great. The occasional focus on crocheting suits me perfectly because I prefer crocheting to knitting. Almost all the crochet ideas are so clever that they immediately make me want to make them myself. And that’s my only problem with the newsletter: there’s always something in there that I’d love to make. A second pair of hands would be helpful. I’m also grateful to my many friends and acquaintances who keep snatching up my “creations.” Eventually, my apartment would run out of space. My husband always gives me such a suspicious look when I’m rummaging through my yarn again or—even worse—have bought new yarn. But he’ll just have to deal with it! So, please keep up the great work!
May I ask what criteria you use to put together the newsletters?
I don’t know if I’m the only one who’s noticed this, but first of all, I keep seeing the same patterns in them, and mostly ones that have already been sold multiple times.
As a beginner myself, I’d really like to see more support for newcomers through promotions for their shops and products.
I noticed this again during the last sale.
First came the shops that had already made quite a few sales and are quite successful, and then, waaaaaay at the back, the newcomers.
Not everyone has the time and patience to click through over 40 pages (I didn’t get any further than that because my computer is pretty slow).
I’d love it if you’d also feature a new or established designer in your newsletter from time to time—that way, even the less successful ones get a chance when you showcase several products (if available) from the same designer. In the next newsletter, you could feature different designers, and so on… This way, products from both established and new designers could be showcased.
I unsubscribed from your newsletter a while ago because it almost always promotes the same patterns. It’s a shame, but I can always browse the site on my own.
