This airy summer tunic can be worn in summer, but also in any other season.
The 14-page knitting pattern explains size 38-42 in detail. A different size can easily be adjusted.
What makes this tunic special is that you have almost no seams. It only needs to be sewn together at the top of the shoulder and for a small section under the arm. It is knitted from the bottom up, in the round up to the armhole.
The stitch patterns are described in detail, with all measurements. This means the pattern is also suitable for beginner knitters who have the following basic skills.
- knit knit and purl stitches
- decrease stitches to the right and left
- increase stitches at the side (there is a video tip as a link)
- pick up stitches to knit on (here, the ribbing at the V-neck)
- sew knitted pieces together (at the shoulder and under the arm)
- color changes (for the stripes)
Many steps (including tips) are shown with photos.
You will need the following materials (for the size described here):
- 200 g cotton, yardage 170 m/50 g in red
- 1 x 50 g cotton in yellow – same yarn quality
- One 60 cm or 80 cm circular knitting needle each, sizes 3 and 3.5
- Optional: a longer crochet hook size 3 or 4 for picking up the stitches (if you are experienced at picking up stitches, you can also do it another way)
- A crochet hook size 3 - 4
- A yarn needle for weaving in ends
- A few stitch markers (I make small loops from yarn for this)
The exact measurements of the tunic are included in the pattern.
The pattern can be adjusted as desired for other sizes, both in length and in width. To do this, simply follow the given measurements and recalculate for the width, the length, and the arms or armhole.
