Dear users and authors,
gradient yarns, or Bobbels, are all the rage right now and make for wonderful accents.
This thread is a place to share patterns that look even better when made with gradient yarn.

@Authors
Please post relevant patterns along with a photo, link, and text that includes information on materials, techniques, difficulty level, and what makes the project special. Good luck!

I created my crochet pattern for the Loop Margery specifically for gradient yarn, known as a “Bobbel.” The pattern is especially geared toward beginners who may never have crocheted with a Bobbel before. It’s crocheted in rounds, so no increases or decreases are necessary. The size of the loop can be customized; the pattern explains how to do this.

The pattern uses chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet.

A 3-ply Bobbel with a length of 750 m was used.

You can find the pattern here: Loop Margery

The baby blanket from my set of 3 for the crazypatterns summer promotion was knitted with gradient yarn that I had wound especially for it! The blanket is very light and soft and can also be worn as a shoulder wrap!

I’m totally thrilled with bobbel yarn. That’s why my shop has several shawls that were crocheted with a gradient yarn. One of them, for example, is the shawl "Mara". It was crocheted with a bobbel, 4-ply, 800 m yardage, and a size 4 crochet hook. The pattern is also suitable for crochet beginners with a little experience.

I designed some of my knitting patterns this year with gradient yarn. I used plied yarn with 3–8 strands and worked with needle sizes from 2.75 to 5.  There is something for both beginners and advanced knitters.

Gradient yarn doesn’t necessarily need elaborate patterns to make an impact. Often, a simple design shows off the yarn especially beautifully and also allows beginners to knit wonderful pieces.

You can find more detailed information in the descriptions in the shop. And I have added a small list of online suppliers I enjoy working with to the patterns. The three-piece winter set (created from an experiment) will be published next week.

I wish you all lots of joy

The pattern for the Peara crochet scarf is absolutely ideal for beautiful designer yarns.

Materials needed:
  • approx. 100–200 grams of yarn (or 800–1,000 meters)
  • crochet hook appropriate for the yarn used (if you crochet tightly, use a larger size)
  • beads (e.g., rocailles—the hole should be large enough so that it
  • doesn’t sit too tightly on the yarn)
  • a piece of very thin wire for threading the beads
  • a sewing needle for weaving in ends
This scarf is very easy for beginners to make, since it consists almost entirely of double crochets and chain stitches.
The pattern is 11 pages long and includes a detailed photo tutorial on how to crochet the beads into the edge and the flower pattern, a written version, and charts.

And best of all:
In October, you’ll get a whopping 20% discount on the pattern! So don’t wait—

The pattern for the Asteria poncho is an easy beginner’s project. The shape of the five points is created through skillful increases and decreases.
This pattern can be knitted for sizes ranging from 12 months up to adult sizes. Only the yardage required changes.

Yarn requirements:
- For a 12-month-old, you’ll need approx. 550m of 5-ply gradient yarn
- For adults, 1200m or more of 4-ply gradient yarn

The adjusted stitch distribution for different gauge or yarn is easy to calculate.
- Formulas for calculating other sizes are included in the
pattern.
What skills do you need?
• Casting on
• Knit and purl stitches
• kfb (knit-front-back) increase
• Knitting stitches together
• Binding off

The basic techniques listed are not explained in the pattern.

Mimikry
A Möbius without a Möbius cast-on, no sewing, but with a color gradient? Sounds like an April Fools' joke, but it isn’t one

Over 17 pages, you’ll find a detailed pattern for this beautiful Möbius, which actually manages without the annoying Möbius cast-on. The product is also “seamless.” That means you don’t have to sew to achieve the typical Möbius shape either. You only have an approx. 5 cm long seam at the transition from the cable to the Möbius.

What do you need to know?
-  casting on stitches
-
 knit and purl stitches
-  cabling
-
 yarn overs
-  knitting stitches together
-
 increases

At the end of the pattern, you’ll find photo tutorials for individual sections that explain new techniques in more detail. The photo tutorial is intentionally placed at the end of the pattern so you can decide for yourself how much of the pattern you actually need to print in order to save ink.
I hope you have lots of fun with this new knitting experience!

Everything included:
•Pattern as a PDF for instant download
•Written pattern
•Cable pattern as a chart
•Photo tutorial as additional help for beginners
•Suitable for beginners
•Adaptable to any size

You’ll need these materials at home:

•200 m solid-color 4-ply gradient yarn
•750–900 m 4-ply gradient yarn
•Alternatively, sock yarn or yarn in sock-weight thickness
•3.5 mm circular knitting needle (80–100 cm)
•1 stitch marker
•Yarn needle
•Scissors

Dear crafting enthusiasts,

this easy-to-knit shawl gets its stunning effect mainly from the color gradient in the skein.

A lace shawl for beginners
The pattern consists of just two rows that alternate repeatedly. You’ll only need 2 skeins of color-gradient yarn (“Daphne Lace” or “Lace Top by Lanas Stop” or “Schoppel Zauberball Lace 100” or another yarn—even a solid-color one—with a yardage of approx. 50 g/400 meters). You’ll also need a circular knitting needle and a size 4 crochet hook.

Click here for the pattern . I hope you enjoy working on this project.

Warm regards from “Ina strickt”

Oh, I still have something lovely for you that gets its special charm from the color gradient. Pointed hat and triangular shawl were knitted with 6-ply “Meilenweit” sock yarn by Lana Grossa, which comes in many beautiful color gradients. For the hat and shawl together, you need 1
skein of 150 g. Of course, you can also use yarns from other manufacturers.

The hat is knitted with knit and purl stitches. The shawl is also knitted with knit and purl stitches as well as yarn overs. It has a small crocheted border made of single crochet and double crochet. You should already have basic knowledge and some crafting experience, since not every step is illustrated. This pattern is free and you can find it here.

Best wishes and have lots of fun making it, “Ina strickt”

A new project with a cake yarn.
Here, a 200g skein of 4-ply cake yarn “Rainbow” by Relana was crocheted.
A total of 800m with a 4.5 mm crochet hook.

The zigzag loop scarf  Keny  looks very delicate with this cake yarn.

The ART DECO cape and hat are knitted from NORO gradient yarn (NORO Silk Garden) combined with rich black. The black makes the colors glow even more. The cape and hat are available individually or as a value set. The pattern is very detailed and includes many pictures. In fact, ART DECO is much easier to knit than the result suggests.
