My most popular crochet pattern for leftover yarn:

Fish Fridolin

Just the right size for a keychain or bag charm, and fun in any color. So you can crochet your way through your leftover yarn box and have your own colorful school of fish.

Here’s the pattern for Fish Fridolin

Have fun crocheting

I like to create a seasonal table in my hallway in the Waldorf style, with cute crocheted flower children. My grandchildren especially are always delighted by it and are happy whenever there’s a new flower child to admire.

The flower children can be crocheted wonderfully from leftover yarn you already have, since you only need a very small amount of yarn for them. They are about 12 cm tall. I worked bendable wire into the arms and legs so you can bend the limbs however you like. This lets the flower children take on all kinds of different poses. Each flower child has its blossom with it.

The newest flower child is the poppy:

With its little red dress and cap, it is a cheerful splash of color in the flower meadow.

Flower Child Dandelion
The dandelion naturally belongs in the summer meadow too. The flower child has stretched out comfortably in the shade of its dandelion puff and is enjoying the sunshine.

Flower Child Forget-Me-Not
The forget-me-not is blooming in the meadow too. The little flower elf dances happily around her blossom. She is wearing a light blue dress, and on her head she has a wreath of forget-me-not flowers.

For the upcoming weekend, I’ve chosen three different crochet projects as suggestions. Depending on the yarn used, the first two motifs can be crocheted as a cuddle cloth, a gentle washcloth (e.g. to protect the eyes when washing hair), or a potholder. The third motif is a bit more extensive—you can mentally crochet your way straight to Paris :-) The placemat is an absolute eye-catcher, and it puts you in a good mood even while you’re crocheting it.

All three projects are worked using the tapestry crochet technique. The color not currently needed is crocheted in, so the back looks nice too. It’s very easy, really fun, and of course it’s explained in great detail in the pattern with lots of helpful pictures.

If you prefer knitting, you can also find all the motifs as double-face versions in my shop.

Or how about tablecloth weights?

You can crochet or knit all sorts of different things from leftover yarn. In the end, you’ll be surprised by the combinations that emerge.

Crochet pattern for a triangular shawl - here I combined about 400 grams of larger and smaller leftover yarns.

Cotton yarn scraps are perfect for dishcloths. For this pattern, just a few grams are enough, since you can crochet each row with a different color. I love giving them as gifts along with a dish towel.

Knitting pattern for baby booties - here, too, small amounts of yarn can be put to good use. Some practice with a cable needle is helpful.

You can use up leftover yarn with the Rachel triangular shawl. It is not difficult to make. You can find the detailed pattern in my Blickfang-Design store.

The weekend is here. During the day you’re out in the sun, and in the evening you feel like doing something creative. You can easily crochet or knit a small handmade project in the evening sun, too. Here are 3 suggestions for you - simply picked by me because they’re what I’d feel like making right now. I hope you enjoy looking at them and making them yourself.

Warm regards from Ina

Doorstop “Sandbag”
In summer, doors and windows are often open everywhere, and then a draft can quickly come through and the door slams shut. To keep that from happening, I crocheted some doorstops. They weigh about 4.5 kg and are filled with small pebbles that are inside a cotton tote bag. You can use them indoors or outdoors. And now I don’t have to worry about my grandson’s little fingers anymore either.

Doll Clothing Swing Series
You always have a few bits of leftover yarn around to crochet a few doll clothes for your daughter or granddaughter. Here you can choose from 6 models, which of course can also be wonderfully combined with each other. My granddaughter really loves these colorful handmade doll clothes. Her favorites are dresses, summer hats, and bags ... just a girl ;-)

Advent Calendar

And now here’s an insider tip: If you crochet lots of little colorful bags now, you can create a lovely Christmas calendar for your loved ones in winter. A little surprise goes into each bag. You can decorate the little bags standing up or hanging. The 24 little number tags are included in the pattern as a printable template. After Christmas, you can of course fill them with sweet surprises for Easter or children’s birthdays and delight your guests with them.
