Fun experiences with your pets

Those are such funny stories. :) Just like in a storybook.

We used to have a tomcat, too. I had to watch him very closely to make sure he didn’t steal anything. One morning at breakfast, he was walking behind me on the radiator, and before I knew it, he’d snatched my slice of bread off my plate. I didn’t notice right away and was wondering what had happened. Then I saw my bread under the table and the cat happily munching on it.

I also once forgot to take a cheesecake off the table. Well… it ended up half-eaten. Luckily, I noticed it soon after; otherwise, he would’ve definitely gotten sick.

Ruth, I just helped a friend publish her children’s book. There’s a cat named Puschel in it, too. And the book is called “Grandma Tells Funny Animal Stories.” The author is Uta Winkler, and she experienced all of these stories herself. I read the book in one sitting.

November Projects 2021, Part 2: the Crazypatterns Crafting Group

You’ve created such beautiful things. I’m just popping in for a moment…

Anja, I figured as much about the HSP. :) Welcome to the club.

Marlene, I hope you’ll soon have everything sorted out and loooads of time for crafting. I’ve moved so many times and have always felt that there’s a certain magic to every new beginning. That’s already evident in your view of the birds.

Sonja, your loop scarf really suits you! Great photos. I can show you my progress so far, too. I’m just past the halfway point and can’t wait to wear it. The Drops Flora yarn is sooo cozy and soft, and the colors are a dream (for me). By the way… you always keep us in suspense with your new projects. What are you hatching up this time? ;-)

Here’s how my loop is coming along:

Thank you, dear Imelda! It’s nice that we have something in common.

Steffi, I wish you a speedy recovery, too. Sometimes a little rest does you a world of good and works wonders.

Marlies, I actually still have some of my son’s baby clothes, but only a few pieces left. Some of them went to the grandkids. I even still have a bath towel from when I was a baby—it’s almost 70 years old now and still holding up. I hope you enjoy your anniversary dinner.

I’m now 1/3 of the way through the loop, but it’s not quite ready for a photo yet. I had a lot of other things to do today. I’ll get back to knitting tonight.

Have a wonderful evening, everyone, and take care.

Crocheting with Leftover Yarn

This doll diaper for 43–50 cm baby dolls is a super cute and quick project for using up leftover yarn. I don’t know any toddler who wouldn’t love it, especially since the diaper is so easy to use thanks to the Velcro fasteners.

Go to the crochet pattern

The Scrap Eaters Gang lets you use up lots of different leftovers, including buttons and toilet paper rolls. Even children can get creative with this one.

Go to the crochet pattern

These cute little heart baby booties are also crocheted from leftovers. Very simple and quick. A baby can never have enough of them.

Go to the crochet pattern

A shopping bag for the pretend shop can also be crocheted quickly from leftovers. Then you can put lemons and carrots straight inside, and giving it as a gift is a real joy.

Go to the crochet pattern

Toddlers love feeding their dolls. This food for the play kitchen makes it even more fun. They get the same food they have on their own plates, for example toast with butter and a fried egg or pasta with vegetables.

Go to the crochet pattern

Small leftovers are definitely enough for these two door guardians—the owl and the bear. It’s best to crochet both right away, because everyone will surely want one for their room. Very easy to make and very cute and useful—even for the home office.

A whole family of elves can be crocheted from leftovers—even for an Advent calendar. Since they are quick to finish, you can still start now.

A tissue box should always be within easy reach, preferably in every room. With this cover, those ugly cardboard boxes look really decorative. They’re always a hit as gifts.

Do you set a € limit for yarn when you want to make a specific pattern???

Thanks for the tip, Veronika. That’s very helpful for us authors. :)

Steffi, I feel exactly the same way as Veronika. With such large projects, quality is important to me. Either I don’t do it at all, or it just costs more. I have to say, though, that there is also good yarn available at affordable prices.

Wow, you guys, you’re absolutely amazing! I really can’t keep up with everything you’re writing here.

Petra, that’s such a great idea—gift wrapping made from old clothes. If only I weren’t such a slacker when it comes to sewing. But I like your shirt so much that I might give it a try myself. A turtleneck would work too. A flower vase made from a turtleneck… I imagine that would be really funny.

Ines, I feel the same way as you. For me, movies are more like radio plays, too. ;-)
Your new creations look absolutely charming again.

Marlies, that’s such a cute door wreath and perfect for a pantry. Now I know why it’s called a “cheese wreath.” I’m never in the mood for fiddly little projects like that—otherwise, I’d definitely crochet one just like it.
That cardboard find of yours is so cute. Unfortunately, I don’t have any items like that left from my son’s childhood.

Dear Anja, Marlies, and Steffi. I’m sending you a heartfelt hug, too, and I think it’s really great that you’re opening up about having your own dark moments and not always functioning the way the world would like you to. I, too, have my weaknesses and can relate to a lot of what you write. I’m highly sensitive (known as an HSP), and that isn’t always easy. I used to think I was just way too sensitive or too anxious. Today, I’ve come to accept it and know that many people feel the same way. Crowds aren’t my thing, nor are places that are too loud, and I rarely drive anymore—and never at night. To this day, I still can’t swim because my fear of water is far too great. Without my husband, my life would certainly have turned out differently. He’s brought out sides of me that I didn’t even know existed before. I’ve learned to focus my attention more on the things that bring me joy. My favorite saying is still: “Whenever you think you can’t go on anymore… a little light comes from somewhere.” :) Yes, I can say that’s actually always been the case.

This is a space I love very much. Here, we’re allowed to be just as we are. And we have something that connects us: our love of crafts. I’m truly grateful for that—just as I am for every new day I get to experience.

Sonja, I couldn’t have said it better myself. I wholeheartedly agree with your words. You have a gift for leaving a few rays of sunshine everywhere you go... your name suits you perfectly.

Ines, what you went through so soon after your wedding... I have the utmost respect for you! My friend—we were 20 at the time—went through the same thing. She suddenly found herself alone with two small children. And some time later, she found her new love in a friend of my husband’s at the time. She’s still with him today. You’re happily married now, too. I think experiences like that make us appreciate life so much more. That’s certainly how I feel.

So, now I’ll show you how far I’ve gotten with the DF Loop. I’ve finished a quarter of it—after successfully unraveling the Möbius Loop. It feels so nice and cozy. I’m already looking forward to wearing it.

Toddlers are perfectly dressed now in these warm suspender leggings. Nothing can slip out of place. The straps are adjustable, and the waistband can be folded over at first. This way, the pants will grow with your child for a while from age 2 and up.

Handcrafting Animals: Are your animals already in the Christmas spirit?

Why not give lucky ladybug oven mitts as a gift? Everyone is sure to love them. And this splash of color is guaranteed to be an eye-catcher in the kitchen.

The lucky ladybugs are very easy to crochet, even for beginners with basic knowledge.

Baby's first cuddly bear is also very easy for beginner knitters to make. Even leftover yarn is enough for this. Great as a gift for a birth, too.

A very special gift that is not only cute but also useful—these two door hangers. Both the bear and the owl have two sides. One says "Stop," the other says the way is "clear." For kids, it's an absolute hit, because most of the time they aren't allowed to lock their room. But for a home office, too, a door guard like this is a humorous way to work in peace.

Easy to crochet with leftover yarn.

Make Beginner-Friendly Christmas Designs Now

You can find a decoration made from leftover yarn that’s really easy to crochet here. The stars can be hung on the tree or on gifts, and can also be used as appliqués. Yeah, Steffi, I already did that with this package. I wanted to make it up to 70 euros. But I’m not going to buy any more skeins now. Everything’s fine the way it is. First, I’ll knit it up.

Sandra, the beer garden is really a very nice idea that you’ve brought to life.

Steffi, I’d leave the sweater as is. At first glance, you can’t see any seam. I think you have to know about it; otherwise, you wouldn’t notice it at all.

By the way... I’m turning into the “Unraveling Queen” this month. I had the exact same experience with the loop as Sonja did. Last night I was happy to have finished the first 5 rounds. Then, unfortunately, I realized I’d knitted a Möbius loop. So this morning I had to unravel everything. Now I’ve finished the first round again—but the way it’s supposed to be.

Petra, thanks for being happy with me. I would have used the pink-looking color for my cardigan. I liked that one too. Now it will become stripes in the men's cardigan. I'll make something else from the rest later.

Marlies, thank you too for being happy with me. Your cheese door wreath looks interesting. Why do you call it that? I can't really tell yet what it will look like when it's finished. What do the colorful pieces in it mean?

Anja, I'm cracking up reading your lines. Your humor is unique. :)
You'll surely show us your new love, the Turkish yarn, when you have it, right? I'm looking forward to it. A good-mood shawl, now that's a really great idea. Colorful is always good. I'm already thinking about how to knit up different colors nicely. I know that kind of chaos all too well. Since I've been here, though, and we had the UFO weeks, that's history. What has stayed is that I always have several projects at once. That way it doesn't get boring.

Steffi ... I have to smile. You write so humorously too. I almost don't want to say it ... but I'm toying with the idea of buying more of some colors from the yarn that was just delivered. Then I'll still get the same dye lot. I'm still wavering ... we'll see whether the yarn calls loudly enough: "I want to come to you!" Then I won't be able to say no...
Drops Love You comes in several qualities and weights. I have the 9 now, that's the recycled yarn. It's very sturdy, and I like working with it when I'm making sturdy things with needles - both crochet and knitting. I had knitted the shawls with it. For DF, I prefer the thinner one with 180 m yardage.
The picture of your sweater can't be seen. Upload it sometime, I'm curious what it looks like now.

Marlies, how wonderful that you’re here with us now! Your Waschi turned out great.

Petra, wow, your acorn is huge. It turned out beautifully. I could imagine using it as gift wrapping if the little cap were knitted separately... Your other decorations look pretty, too.

So, now I’ll share with you the yarn package I ordered. Yes, I received it today and celebrated it thoroughly and with joy. The yarn feels soooo great—it’s cozy and soft. I could bathe in it.... :) I also knitted a gauge swatch right away for my Peter’s jacket. I’ll probably need more than 10 skeins for that, so for now, he’s the only one getting a jacket. I can knit something else with the rest, eventually. I also picked out yarn for the loop scarf that I’ll be test-knitting for Sonja. I’m really looking forward to it and got started right away. The swatches are knitted from the jacket yarn and the red yarn I’d already shown you. As you can tell, I’m totally in a yarn frenzy.

And here’s my package with its contents. The yarn was packed in 3 layers.

2nd layer, middle:

3rd layer, bottom:
