Hi,
as you might know, I’m always on the lookout for new trends and stuff like that. I’m not always completely up to date, and some of the trends I find might not actually be real trends, but you can always give them a try. One day I’ll finally create my own trend, and that’ll be really great. But not just yet—right now, I’m still lagging a bit behind the trends.
But I found a new trend in the shop at crazypatterns—a really good one, actually: beautiful comfort blankets, and plenty of them, too. In all shapes, colors, and sizes.

Take a look—there are currently 12 of them, so I think we can almost call this a new trend, since the patterns aren’t particularly old; they’re actually almost brand-new. )
So, I just think you can spot trends and developments in the DIY world by looking at the newly uploaded patterns.
Have you crocheted a cute comfort blanket, or is that just not your thing?
Well, there’s one sewing pattern in there now; the rest are crocheted—none are knitted. Aren’t comfort blankets available in knitted versions?
Aren’t comfort blankets not only great for babies but also for crochet beginners? Some of them—especially the ones with a little head on them—look pretty challenging, so maybe they’re not just for beginners after all. And I think they have to be sturdy, too—you don’t want them to fall apart when the baby plays with them or chews on them.
Happy crocheting, everyone—whether you’re making comfort blankets or anything else.

I thought those had mostly been grasping toys so far. But I guess I'm not quite up to date. ; )

Thanks. Those are pretty DIY trends in the blog

Can you wash the cuddle cloths, then? Okay, that's the wrong question. It always depends on the material. Especially with things like this, baby toys and so on, I think it's really important that you can wash them too. The baby is sure to chew on them and all that.
Okay, in that case I would also find organic wool important if the child is going to chew on it anyway, and not just wool that can be washed. I assume that would be cotton rather than sheep's wool or virgin wool. I think cotton is much easier to wash than sheep's wool. Well, I assume you can't go wrong with the lint-free baby yarn you can get in stores. The baby could swallow lint or choke on it.
Hey… You can also buy these kinds of comfort blankets made of fabric in almost any store that sells baby items.
They should be washable, and that depends on the right material. For the neonatal unit where I always crochet donations, I sometimes make little comfort blankets like this, too. I make them out of cotton, since the hospital washes them at 60 degrees, and cotton can just barely handle that. The ones made of polyacrylic—aka baby wool—unfortunately can’t withstand it. But at home, you don’t wash them at 60 degrees; you’d put them in the 30-degree wash cycle.
